Thanks, Bellsmom! I wish I could do that myself. I have MBR pics, but they're espresso maple in a dark bathroom. They're also a neat combination of cabs. :) And everyone for the compliments! I'm really happy with how they're coming out. It might take me forever to paint or stain, but in the meanwhile everything's going in them instead of boxes piled against the wall. I actually find the skinny, 4-drawer drawers useless. That's why I originally ordered 3-drawer. My plan, someday, is to do what I did with the (extra) cabinets in my MBR. I took out two drawers and one set of drawer glides. I cut out the face frame and put in a single deep drawer. Like the big ones on the 3-drawer. Then, I attached the drawer fronts back onto the big drawer so it looks just like it started. Deeper drawer are much more functional than 2.5" deep drawers. Now I can put stuff actually in them. With 18" cabinets, the drawers can only be 15" deep. Need all the space I can!

Susan, the town just across the river is Paducah, Kentucky. It's in a *lot* better shape than Cairo, IL. I had a heckuva time getting people to talk to me when I first went to Cairo in 2003, to do research for my book. I've done a lot of traveling and a lot of interviewing, but I have *NEVER* seen such a tight-lipped bunch as the residents of Cairo, IL. And then I met a fellow-history lover who lived in Cairo and he introduced me around and got people to talk to me. He was an angel and a wonderful blessing. He showed me this huge cement slab on the corner of the main drag and a nice wide side street. It was once a busy intersection. He explained that this massive cement slab was once the site of the community swimming pool (in the early 1960s). It was "whites only" and when some black kids got in the pool, there was trouble. And then a black soldier was found hung in the local jail and riots started and the National Guard was called in to restore order. The race riots were awful and the town never did recover. Population plummeted and people just packed up and left. There's a book on this topic titled, "Let my People Go" and I have a copy (but I can't seem to find it right now" and it's a pictorial history of this awful time in Cairo's history. Thanks everyone! The main color is Shady Willow by Behr, and the trim is Nesting Dove. I love Behr. We had never used it for exterior before, but I started using it on the interior of this house when we moved in, and it just covers so well. The last time I painted the exterior of a house, I used American Tradition and there's just no comparison. Behr is much better paint. It's funny, because we have a stained glass side light that dh was not fond of, and actually wanted to take out when we first moved in. I liked that it was hand made, and so we kept it. Now that the house is painted, though, the side light looks a thousand times better. I'll add a picture of it when I get back from taking my son to preschool.

AWWWW! How could any nasty old landlord ask you to give up those two little cuties! Sadie looks a lot like my Chiquita except that she has some white on her neck and chest.The facial expression is the same.She will soon be 15 years old.Peanut looks like my DD's little Claudia that she lost 2 years ago.They are cute Jamie.I love Chis!

I had the same thought as Lilliepad--you mean those itty bitty dogs are what the landlord didn't like?? Sheesh! They are adorable. Thanks for the pix.
