Monday Night's Dinner Plans?

Gorgeous summer day again. Boy, September has been warmer than all of August.

I took a couple of steaks out yesterday to grill, but we didn't feel like them yesterday, so we had them tonite. Boiled potatoes and sauteed cauliflower.

One of the stores has cauliflower for 99cents each. It's out of our way, and the regular stores that we shop at, had it for $1.49 and $1.69. Big difference. I'm going to get a couple of heads for 99cents while the sale is still on.

We are going to have salmon patties with zucchini, carrot mini quiches. Trying two new recipes.

Today was a beautiful sunny day and I was busy all day;didn't get home until 5. Hubby made most of the dinner for us and my sister: potatoes and onion packets on the grill, perfectly done steak and green beans. I made a squash from a neighbor's garden that I prepped with apples, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Oh, Schoolhouse, that always happens to me. I love Chinese food and think I'm taking just a little dab of this and that. Ha! Used to be an old saying that you were hungry an hour after eating Chinese food. Sure not true in my case! Mary, we're supposed to be down into the 40's tonight. Isn't this the whackiest weather? I'd be delighted to come for dinner any time :-) Glenda, your planning paid off. 30 is a lot and it surely does sound (and look) like a good time. Nice of you to outfit the chef! Shirley, good for you for taking the day off! I do that probably more than I should, but no apologies here. Everything that needs to be done will still be there tomorrow. Or even worse, need to be done again tomorrow! Sometimes we just need to relax and regroup! Raven, I've never seen premade pizzas in the deli. Just frozen, which taste like cardboard to me. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I'll ask--that'd be easier. They have the toppings and everything on, right?

I don't think young adults are quite aware of how fast 'time flies'. Our DS didn't marry until his late twenties -- which is fine. However, they didn't start a family for years. Our DGS is six. Last May I think our DIL was startled to be turning 38. So...as of February we have DGS and DGD...and that will be all. (DIL's last pregnancy was termed at-risk, simply because of her age.) Meanwhile, DH and I are Seniors. Our prime baby-sitting days are over! lol

Monica, pot pie is very time consuming--at least it is for me. I buy mine already made :0 I'm sure yours is better. Wow Shirley, I wish that green bean fairy would come to my house. Your dinner brings back memories of my childhood and that's a good thing. Azzalea, that sounds so good. "We" decided to order a pizza instead. Haven't had it for a while and it sounds pretty good. Especially the part where I don't have to cook. We're getting the ham, pineapple and bacon on thin crust from Pizza Hut--delivered! :-)

I'm glad that you mentioned your worries about GMO, Jean, and that I could help. I know that I would HATE not having sweet corn (on or off the cob) . About the pesticides.....most will be found on the husks and silk. Once those are removed and the ears washed, the harmful chemicals are pretty much gone. Pork chops are a favorite at our house......pork, in general! I don't know which way that I like it best. (Whatever is on my plate, I guess!)

Too many irons in the fire today that I wasn't expecting, so Stouffers Fish w/mac/cheese was the right thing for me to have.

We went to Costco Sunday and stocked up on goodies. Tonight is their fresh made stuffed bell peppers. They are so good. They are in the oven and smelling good.

I made a casserole of potatoes, diced bacon, onions and cheese. I then scrambled some eggs and made breakfast burritos for tomorrow morning with the casserole. So we've got dinner and breakfast made. YAY!

Last night we stopped at Bob's Steakhouse and brought most of our steak home with us. Tonight I heated them up on the indoor electric grill, They were as good tonight as last night. We had hashbrowns with them.

We had salmon patties, mashed potatoes, green beans, beets , sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. It was all good!

Yesterday I made a batch of beef stew that turned out really well.

decided at the last minute to drive along with dh to his dr's appt...we stopped at arbys on the way home just a plain sammie and diet drink but gee it was really good...

Happy Anniversary Carabubble!

DH has gone back to low carb, so it was hamburger patties and steamed broccoli for us.

Bengardening, aren't indoor grills wonderful? I asked for one on Freecycle, and a member gave us hers. It's a griddle/grill and it was too big for them and literally in new condition.

We love using it on the balcony to keep the smells out of the apartment and use it often.

Jasdip mine is probably from the 60's I think. My sister bought it at a thrift store, but it didn't have a power cord with it. If you remember a couple of months ago I asked if anyone on here could tell me where to get one. The company was out of business. When I was in Michigan I always looked in the thrift stores to see if I could find one. One day I found one for a dollar and I thought even if it doesn't work I am only out of a dollar. When I came home I tried it and it works. We really like to use it.
