Supper Time!

I have already had mine, a sandwich spread sandwich, a small bowl of Great Northern bean soup, sweet cherries and some milk. Izzi and I took a ride on the big rig and got the mail at the end of the drive and then took a long ride out back. I usually only cook for my self most evenings with husband getting his supper in town and eats it on the way home. What are you having this evening?

I'm going to a holiday gathering tonight so have no idea what I will be eating. But since I'm not the one cooking it (catered affair), I know I will enjoy it!! I have a ham bone in the frig just waiting to be turned into pea soup, so maybe I'll do that tomorrow (thanks, Rhizo!!). And fried oysters are about my most favorite thing ever, so those sound wonderful too but not something I'd make at home.

Seagrass, here is the 7 can soup recipe: 1 can each of Mexican corn pinto beans black beans Rotel kidney beans diced tomatoes (I use petite) chili (they say without beans though I can't see what difference that would make. I use a local chili called Skyline but any canned chili will do) Mix it all together and simmer about 20 minutes. The chilis in the Rotel give it a little zip. At least it's a zip for me who eats most everything plain. :) I really liked having it over rice. You don't have to do that but it was really good that way.

I made a big pot of split pea soup, with some chopped ham, carrots and onions. I made pumpernickel croutons to add to your bowl, if desired. Pea soup is a big favorite in our families. The sprites from next door and their grandpa shared our supper, and the older sprite was my assistant in the kitchen. She is ten and has been passionate about cooking for three years. Seriously! She made an apple crisp for dessert; she selected it from my grandmother's recipe box. I'm going to give her that box when she's 16.

It was DiGiorno Pizza (thin crust supreme) a salad and non alcoholic beer. We make two meals out of the pizza, so lunch is ready for today. But I want to tell you about our breakfast this morning. Decided on the spur of the moment to go out to a local Mom and Pop restaurant that is known for really big servings. We both ordered a "Keto Scramble" new on their menu. It was to die for! Three scrambled eggs, mixed with ham, sausage, bacon, many colored peppers, mushrooms, onions, broccoli and topped with shredded cheese of your choice. No carbs. but plenty of fat. It was so good! And we each had enough left over to bring home for supper. DH is insulin dependent diabetic, so not a meal he should eat every day, but maybe we will go back once a week.

Hubby and I dropped into Costco. We were driving by and I never think of going till I see it. Since it was Thursday, I figured it wouldn't be too busy (wrong).

I wanted to buy 2 things.....their toilet paper and coffee filters.
I checked other items, but I only buy when prices are good. You have to know your prices. For example they were selling 10lb bag of carrots for $4.49, and I just bought some this week for $1.88 elsewhere. Anyway.....we were hungry so we bought some fries. Big mistake, now we aren't hungry for dinner.

Hubby is out for a while seeing if they can use a bar to play for a fund-raiser for Goderich who was hit by a tornado last month.

When he comes back, he'll probably just want cereal.

We are both tired. I've shopped all day and he says let's have ham and eggs. Suits me.

Crab legs, BLTs, glass of Reisling, and some assorted Halloween candy. Good thing I have only myself to cook for!

I made eggplant lasagna, was so hungry for Italian. It was really very good, sure hits the spot when I'm craving it!

I went to Denny's and had a "Lumberjack Slam". Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns, sourdough toast (w/jelly & peanut butter), pancakes, decaf coffee and water. It was good and hot and very tasty. Yup, I'm full.

Phyllis reminded me, seems like the holiday stuff comes out earlier every year. The Halloween stuff has been out since the beginning of the month.
