Had their small plate of riblets. Way too much and brought the rest home and froze.

I fixed ham, cabbage, and potatoes. Great comfort food. Glad the temperatures are just right for having the windows open to get rid of the odor. ;*)

Well, if I get off my butt and make it down to the kitchen, I'm "binge cooking" for next week. Tony Roma's Baked Potato Soup, Lentil Chili and Chicken and Dumplings. I'll plop the dumplings on the night we actually have them.
May throw together french toast, bacon and eggs for dinner tonight.
Gotta love a hubby that cleans up after a tornado (me) hits the kitchen! LOL

Are we the only ones who have never seen Breaking Bad? I guess that's going to have to change.

Shirley, not sure if you saw my post this am on last nite's dinner thread. Because of you, I made boiled ham yesterday with potatoes and green beans. We loved it! Have a huge amount of ham leftover, too.

We just this minute finished eating and hubby is doing dishes.
Meatloaf, his sweet and white potato dish (chunks roasted with tons of garlic cloves and olive oil), and cauliflower.

Made 3 loaves of Honey Whole Wheat bread, and a loaf went to my neighbour downstairs.

This morning we picked up a grocery bag of apples from Freecycle that someone was giving away, from their tree. It's funny seeing apples with brown scabs on........real farm apples; not the glossy ones you buy in the store.

I'm going to make an apple cobbler when the dishes are cleared up.

I had a very full day today. Our church celebrated 150 years being a church and after the service we had a big catered meal, baked chicken and gravy, beef and gravy, green beans, mashed potatoes, broccoli salad, macaroni salad, applesauce, yeast roll, and a great big variety of desserts. I had Sugar Cream pie and iced tea to drink. You could go back as many times as you wanted. I only went once. After the meal we had two hours of entertainment which was very good lots of singing and lots of laughing! Now I am home and only having a banana with peanut butter and chocolate milk. It was a good day.

Holy Cow, who the heck wants pizza now? Every meal sounds wonderful. I get so much inspiration from you folks, day after day.

We have barbecued chicken, boiled corn on the cob, fried okra and pinto beans and corn bread--great southern comfort food.

well after watching one of the weight loss shows, I sure measured out our hamburger tonight! side of baked beans...

jasdip, I did read your post on Sat dinner thread, made a mental note to respond on tonight's. Guess the note got erased or lost in all that mental clutter. I'm glad you liked the ham/beans/potatoes. That's one of my favorite meals.....but only w/fresh beans. Your meal for tonight sounds great.

(I've never seen Breaking Bad either.)

Family Sunday dinner;

Chicken parmigiana w/sauteed asparagus, broccoli and steamed small red potatoes.
Followed by chocolate baklava from Panera.

Took home an Alaskan Fish dinner from Burger King with the new French fries. Also got 3 cheeseburgers to keep in the fridge.

I never use my crock pot so today I decided to try a new recipe. Crock pot spare ribs. Also making sweet potato fries (in the oven) and Caesar salad. DH isn't much of a veggie eater so I sneak whatever I can in salads. Threw some sliced tomatoes and red onion in the Caesar salad. Will let you know tomorrow how the spareribs turned out.

We took the g-daughters to their swimming lesson this afternoon, so I wanted dinner to be almost ready when we got home. I used my crock pot for a lower fat version of Hungarian paprika chicken. It was delicious! With it, we had mashed potatoes and mashed rutabaga. All very yummy.

Monica, I saw your comment about the chocolate baklava the other day....how heavenly. And Minnie, what did you think of the new "healthy " fries?

BB...it's the episode preceding the FINAL, and I still can't imagine how it's going to end.

Was pretty good, but brown rice takes A LONG time to cook here in Colorado

Costco's roasted chicken, mashed garlic taters and the last of my garden's green beans...cooked with bacon, homemade beef stock and home grown shallots...and gravy..

Made a batch of M&M mini chocolate chip cookies after dinner.

Most of us either don't know or don't think about the high altitude issues with cooking. I can only imagine the challenges! How long did it take to cook the rice? Do you fix it in large batches and freeze some for another time?

I haven't had a slow cooker in years but since reading so many of the fabulous sounding meals over the years, I'm going to add one to our list of 'must haves'.

Stacy, did you cook and mash the rutabaga together, like I do? Love it that way.

I read these posts to Robert last night as they came in and we both commented on how incredible everyone's kitchen (whole house) must have smelled. He HAS asked why I don't ever bake bread, by the way....his idea of the way heaven must smell, lol.

at the time, I thought about cooking a double batch of rice, but didn't and when it was "done" I was glad I didn't.

It cooked for over an hour, and was still a little undone in the middles, but the outside was very gloopy and stuck together. It tasted good tho, cuz instead of plain water, I used chicken stock.

Ah yes, the challenges of cooking at high altitude. Potatoes seem to take twice as long too.

That said, I really like this thread, cuz it gives me ideas on what to make for dinner. Thanks to all who contribute.
