Our Saturday morning's farmer's market has cucumbers. The price is not low, but I know that I will be supporting the local economy! I had some cukes earlier, but the cucumber beetles got to them bad. I pulled them and burned them. I'll try in a different location next year. I did put up 11 pints of bread and butter and 5 pints of dill slices, along with refrigerator dills. A new one for me was pickled shallot; they gotta rest a bit and should be ready in a couple of weeks.

Tonight's meal will be a clean-out-the-veggies-from-the-fridge meal. Lots of stuff in there and I'll saute them and go to bed knowing that I did eat at least one decent meal this weekend. The grandkids (and the parents) were here yesterday and the missus fixed all kinds of bad things (at least my MD would think they were bad). This Sunday evening meal will help atone for some of yesterday's badness.

Jim the produce in the stores is local, at least provincially grown. There are some local producers at the market but a large number of them come from the food depot in Toronto and sell their wares here. Tourists assume everything is locally grown at the market but that is not the case.

I was able to get some green beans at my Amish place last Friday. So today it was one of my all time favorite meals: Ham, green beans, and potatoes. I had a couple of pieces of peanut butter fudge I bought at the Home's bake sale yesterday for dessert.

Oh Jasdip, you would LOVE our local farmers' market. And tonight a friend called and offered excess from their bountiful garden.
We have been have been gorging on sweet corn ($3.00 a dozen) and the best tomatoes. Tonight the main part of the meal was chicken n biscuits.

I had a late lunch a meatball sub from Subway, and later on Cheryl made smores in the oven. They are just too rich for me. No supper tonight.

Used up the leftover chicken from yesterday in some rice and grains. I bought some shitaki mushrooms at our nearest outdoor market (don't know where they're shipped from) and they were out of this world. I just sauteed them in some butter and added a tiny bit of thyme from the garden.

Cooked up some carrots and added a bit of orange zest and honey.

Leftover chicken, sausage and okra gumbo, I am really in the mood for gumbo too.
I have been working on a project to demonstrate at the next garden club meeting. I finished them today. Fall leaves jar candle holders. I am happy with the results.

Just finished turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and rolls. *yawn*
Hubby had cranberry sauce with his.

Pigged out on junk food at the beach all day. Late, so just munched some shrimp. quadruple chocolate cookies & an ice cream bar.

Angelaid -- that's one of my favorite meals! (Unless, of course, it comes in a frozen tray! I can't tell you how many times I ended up with a Swanson's turkey TV dinner when I was growing up and my parents had an evening meeting of their social groups!)

Tonite, I stir-fried some cut-up chicken breasts, seasoned with lemon pepper and ginger (with a little cornstarch to give them a bit of a coating). I put the chicken over bagged salad spinach and diced orange bell peppers and had some poppy seed dressing on top.

I'd been to Sears and Macy's earlier to check out their mattresses and I'm surprised I actually came up with a dinner idea I liked -- actually, I've made it plenty of times, but not recently.

We went out for supper. I had sauteed chicken liver with onions and mushrooms, mashed potatoes and okra.
