It's 5 o'clock here, and I don't have a clue. LOL

I had Panera broccoli cheese soup. Good thing I like the stuff! It's thick and filling. Wish it had less salt, though.

Snow overnite so we shovelled today. And I love to bake on weekends, so I made an apple pie today, using butter and the lard that I picked up on Friday. I just used Ina's Crostata recipe (my usual apple pie recipe) and made a double pie crust. Hers is all butter, and I used 3/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup lard.

I also roasted the 7 lb chicken that we got from the Mennonite farm. It was a wonderful bird.

Everything we've had so far, we just love....the cabbage is tender, not tough; the Yukon Gold potatoes are great, and the lard, which I've used to fry fried potatoes, pork chops and my pie crust. Everything had great flavour. And now the chicken. I'll be looking for ways to use the leftovers, we have 1/2 the bird left.

I liked my meal of deli chicken and jo jos, applesauce and donut holes. But I'd rather have had one of the steaks mentioned above.

We didn't get nearly the bad weather predicted for us. I am so very thankful.

rhizo, you're having the identical dinner we had last night. Somehow we were both in the mood for a steak an DH roasted potatoes in the open garage doorway on the gas grill (it was raining) and cooked the steak. A nice treat for both of us. I had some powdered au jus and made some, sliced some strawberries too for a side.

Today I breaded three limits of razor clams, and those too went out to the garage. Table, electric skillet, no frying odors in the house. Again in the open doorway because its still raining. Two friends stopped and picked some up, DH took a platter to his sister and her husband. We'll have whats left with -- another coincidence, Panera broccoli cheese soup! I really love that soup and a rainy day is perfect for it.

There was one more limit clams and I took 1/2 those raw to a former elderly neighbor who prefers to cook her own (and can't dig them any more, DH keeps her supplied), kept the other half here and I will grind those and make clam patties and French fries tomorrow night. In my kitchen, I'll fry patties in my kitchen, just not breaded clams ;)

Split pea soup and bacon/cheddar quiche

I had a late lunch of leftover gumbo, so i didn't feel like much for dinner and made cream of asparagus soup.

I basically followed the recipe here: Cream of asparagus soup It turned out good enough that I'll post the as-made-recipe in the recipes thread.

Tomorrow the storm that has been racing across the country will hit here with a grab bag of precipitation: rain, sleet and snow, witha possible bonus of freezing rain in there somewhere.

We had a medley..
BD fried a chicken I cut up for him on the deck..(in the rain)..lol
We also had Costco's preseasoned ribs with my BBQ sauce. Then roasted asparagas (Costco again 2.5lbs for 2.99!) yummy..
Then I found some parcooked rotini in the fridge and made a cheese sauce with a round of Garlic and Herb Boursin. So delish!

We have enough for another meal.

I baked Sol's Chocolate Chip Cookies today too. A few of those may be turned into ice cream sandwiches.

made chicken soup...splurged and added some 1/2&1/2 to make it creamy...had enough for tonight, 1 lunch for dh and 2 more dinners....

I rarely want steak, but enjoyed it tonight. He's got a knack for getting a good char on a rare steak!

I know that I would love that Panera soup, but just can't have anything so loaded with sodium, darn it all.

I'd switch my dinner for some of those clams. Sometimes, I really really miss living on the coast. We do lots of our cooking on the patio, mor....the grilling, slow and low BBQing, deep frying, and rotisserie are all outdoor projects.

That asparagus soup sure does sound good. I may have to try that one out.

It has been a glorious day here, with all of the sounds and green smells of spring. It's been in the sunny 70s all day. And then, in the span of just a few minutes this evening, the wind changed directions and the temperature has dropped thirty degrees! Creepy.

Terri, are you sure that yiu aren't cooking for an army, lol? It all sounds great.

Susan, a little cream makes a lot of things better, doesn't it? I love what it does to chicken soup.

One of my pet peeves is how loaded with salt everything is. In watching cooking shows, they will add salt, use ingredients that already contain salt, add more salt, plate the dish and sprinkle with still more salt. It's not that I'm on any doctor-ordered salt restriction, I just feel that most recipes are simply way too salty. and the more salt you use the more you need the next time to taste the difference.

We had hamburger patties topped with pimento cheese (no bun) and a big salad.
