What's for Dinner - Sunday, June 22?

We are having figs with goat cheese, barbecue chicken, fruit salad, and grilled corn on the cob with cilantro lime butter.

Even though I had leftovers in the refrigerator, I still chose a Stouffer's salisbury steak entree. Added some steamed vegetables to make it a more rounded out meal.

Satine, your little supper is one of my favorite snacks. Love it! I'll bet two meat loaves were awfully good....and totally different from each other. There are so many ways to make meatloaf and I can't seem to get it right, ever. :-( Lots of pancake lovers here at the kitchen table! Robert fixed a batch for us one day last week. Jas, your meatballs sound fabulous! Hoisin sauce is one of my secret ingredients in several things. I don't think that I've seen that movie; I'll have tl check it out.

Sue, that sounds like a fun, but tiring day, so I can surely understand your "going to your room". Glenda, well it sure ain't a Weight Watcher recipe :-) Just didn't want turkey for the third night in a row. I should've taken fish out of the freezer, but I haven't had beef since last Monday. Enjoy your spaghetti, Georgysmom. I made meatballs a while back and had some in the freezer. My mind is on vacation today! Mary, you must have a very large yard and lots of plants to take care of. I loved planting and growing in Indiana but this darned sandy soil is so different, I just never got the hang of gardening here. Plus, it's too dang hot after 10 a.m. to be out in the sun. Wow, Kathi! I sure miss the days when Harry either cooked or we cooked together in the kitchen. These days he's watching golf :-(

Jeaninwa, I swear your post wasn't there when I responded earlier. I don't know what's going on with my computer (or this site??). Your dinner sounds delicious and colorful. Carol, aren't husbands a wonderful gauge of whether we should make a recipe again or not? Sounds like RR's chicken dish was a big hit at your house. Enjoy your Chinese dinner. Nita, you are seeing so many wonderful places and people. I can't tell you how jealous I am that you're meeting in London with all my favorite people. Give them all a big "Nita hug" for me. Kittiesmom, I'm with you on the avocado and cilantro, too. They can only make things taste better. Pammyfay, you're my kind of girl--eat dessert first! I'm trying not to buy any meat/fish until after our trip next month, but that salmon sure sounds good. Rhizo, we had a rotissiere but it was so big I didn't have anyplace to store it. I don't remember if it was a Showtime but it sure made a good chicken--also hot dogs. It worked by rotating around and around.

Kathleen, now that's inventive! I wouldn't have thought to cook over a fire pit. Shrimp sounds good. Sounds like you'll have enough food for a couple of days. Glenda, what a letdown after the cruise. From steak to bologna sandwiches is quite a drop--haha! Redcurls, chicken pot pie is good any time of year and the wilted spinach made it summery :0 Jasdip, I think I'll try Lazypup's dressing. I have buttermilk to make Pioneer Woman's ranch dressing, so I think I'll use it instead of milk. You had cheeseburgers in paradise LOL!! Sue, is Captain D's sort of like Long John Silvers? We have one in town, but I don't think I've ever eaten at one. If it is like LJS, I'd give it a try. I had some coupons for Wanhai Ferry frozen meals, Pammyfay, but the expired before I used them. I really like the Contessa frozen meals, especially the paella, but can't seem to find it. Publix quit carrying the Contessa dinners we liked. They are pricy, but with in store coupons and the fact that Publix had them on special one week, I stocked up at $2.99 each. The paella is usually $8.95. I'll try the Wanchai if I ever get room in my freezer from all the home-made frozen "TV dinners" from leftovers. Sounds like everyone at well once again. Now we can all sleep soundly :-)

We had a grilled steak, baked potato, homegrown lettuce salad and roasted homegrown asparagus with homemade apple pie for dessert. The lettuce and asparagus came from a friend's garden- so good. Kittiemom, I have never had figs!

My husband grilled hamburgers for dinner and we sat out enjoying the sea breeze to eat them with the extremely nice people in the RV next to us. They are from Colorado, and have one of the most beautiful motorhomes I have seen. We have really been enjoying the vacation.

I had made chicken and dumplings for a friends recovering from surgery, and there was some of that left for my dinner. I had also made the 7-up biscuits and a pan of bars! Kind of a mixture,I guess, but tasted good.

Hi Kittie.
Grilled veggie paninis. It was our first time having eggplant and we love it grilled. Also a wile and brown rice salad with veggies, sliced water chestnuts, and other stuff.

I think we just discovered our new summer sandwich. LOL

Robert grilled some chicken with a ginger flavored sauce and I made some stir fried veggies and sesame brown rice.

since i'm alone, leftover mashed p's sloppy joe....lol...dh and ds are on their way to meeting in Lincoln Nebraska....

We went to 60th anniversary 80th birthday combination party for DH's Uncle and Aunt. It was very informal. We had sloppy joes and chips, pickles and cake and Kuchen.

I pot roasted an eye roast with onions, mushrooms, some fresh celery leaves, carrots and bay leaves.
Just mashed potatoes and lightly steamed fresh spinach.
