What is your favorite commercial? Least favorite?

I think any favorites of mine would have babies or animals in them. My least favorite is The Fat Guy car commercial. I spend a lot of time lately with the remote in my hand.

I like the Gecko, think he is adorable, Like Jack In The Box, and laugh out loud at some of the Ocean Spray cranberry commercials. There are lots of them I don't care for, and I do the same thing, just use my remote and SOB !
There is one with animated jungle animals in it, but can remember what its about, but I LOVE that one.
They could leave all the maxi-pad/tampon ones off the air, that would be okay with me ! LOL

At this time, it is political ads. Either party. The remote gets a lot of use.
As for regular commercials, I like the Geiko's take off of the Antique road show about two in the bush. Clever. I'm getting real sick of all of the ads with Flo. Enough! There is another one with all sorts of animals getting along. Along with many kind of animals, it shows a possum climbing onto an aligator's (crock?) back. I don't know what the commercial is for, but it is cute.

What is your favorite and least favorite flower to grow?

    Q

    Comments (9)
mla20fus, my favorite flowers are perennials, so I don't have to plant them every year. I also love Holihocks, (sorry, every plant needs loved by someone :),especially by an old outhouse or shed. I plant very few annuals, but I truely love breadseed poppy, especially the bright red ones. They bloom with the Shasta Daisy and really make a show. The daisies were all volunteer, but now that I know how they look with my poppies, they can stay. I also plant gypsoia (sp?) and moss rose every year, they too are worth the effort. Are your fall Asters the deep purple ones?

What's your least favorite Garden chore?

    Q

    Comments (15)
I love digging new beds - it's such an optimistic job. My *least* favorite chore is re-digging old beds, which I happen to be doing now, kicking myself all the while. Who knew that garden heliotrope, shasta daisies, campanula glomerata and siberian iris would all run amok in a mere 15 years. Toss in invading lawn grasses, annual weeds, and boisterous autumn clematis, compact firmly with carpenters' boots (while they are shingling the wall behind the garden), and you have a bona fide mess. No fun, no fun at all. Oh, I almost forgot. My really, truly least favorite chore is opening and paying my credit card bill. Shocking how much you can spend without even noticing - and on nothing but annuals and perennials. Makes squishing bugs feel like a picnic by comparison.

Jades and Kalanchois are really taking a beating in this thread, aren't they. Kathi, when I read your post, I wondered how many ugly Kalanchois there were, so I Googled "ugly Kalanchoi," but what I got was anything but. You guys should Google this, and look through the photos. Wow. Here's a small sample from those results: Does it not look just like Juicy Fruit gum? Can you imagine if I'd have Googled "Pretty Kalanchoi" instead? how can they share a genus with Mother-of-Thousands?

What's your least favorite rose color?

    Q

    Comments (34)
Bright A$$ orange! Also don't like the orange reds either. Also yellow. Now don't get me wrong. Yellow is my favorite color, however, on roses in my garden, it fades to white in two seconds with the heat I get. Then it blends into the white fencing I have and you can't see the flowers. That being said, I see some awfully pretty yellow roses here on this site. I almost got rid of my Lady of Shalott because she produced exactly two blooms her first year and they were both bright A$$ orange! Moved her into a pot and more in the shade and she was much prettier her second year. Placed her in the ground where she is again pretty much shaded and I love the color that she is. Lots and lots of blooms on her. All beautiful. With Austins you have to give them at least three to five years to come into their own. She is also own root so it takes a bit longer for her.

I like the Geiko ones and do like the Progressive ones too. I hate the new Burger King ads. They sound like a 3rd grader wrote their jingles.

I agree with dotmom -- these 'smear' political commercials are The Worst. (Tell me *specifically* what YOU are going to DO, not your negative claims about your opponent.)

I like the Chevy Cruze commercial where the little red Chevy 'lurks' in the shadows. The one we see was made in Chicagoland. We see the car in the Marina City garage and it shows up at The Pickwick (art deco movie theater in Park Ridge). Do you have this commercial running in your part of the USA? Does it feature local landmarks?

The Aflac Duck at the BBQ with Guy Fieri. We laugh every time it's on.

This commercial is geared towards the Canadians.

Around the beginning of school, our Zellers store advertised a mom sending her little boy off to his first day of school. His hair was nicely combed, clothes nice and neat and he looked spiffy.

She walked out to the bus to see him get off, and his hair was mussed up, missing his jacket, a pant leg off his pants and he had a big smile on his face. He ran up the walk pulling his little back pack on wheels and he was just the cutest little thing.

As I'm typing this, it made him sound like he was in a fight, but that's not it. He obviously had a great recess with his new friends. Zellers is like KMart, and the voice over was More back to school shopping.

Aflac Duck fainting at the site of Roasting Chicken.

I don't think I have seen the red Chevy commercial. I love the Aflac duck and the Gecko. I also like the Cavemen. I agree that some of the commercials sound like they are geared to Pre School classes and I think that some of the Pre Schoolers would be embarrassed.

Love the Aflac duck fainting at the sight of the roasting chicken too.
Also like the one with the school kids clapping their hands, think it's for Kleenex.
Hate the continual smear campaigns on all the time, also any tampon, birth control, men's issues, denture adhesives, pee problems, constipation, etc....

I may be a little behind the times because I just don't watch much TV, but my favorites would be any with the AFLAC duck, the Geico gecko, and the freecreditreport.com ones with the cute young guy playing the guitar and singing. I absolutely hate the Progressive ones with 'Flo', they are awful. That is the only one I will change channels for. I'm also not crazy about the erectile dysfunction ones. There's several different ones, but one has a man and woman gazing into each other's eyes as they head off to the bedroom. You know, I just don't care to hear about their sex lives, LOL.

How about the hamsters driving the Kia Soul? I think it's cute. Like the Aflac and Geiko ones too.

Hate the ED ones (such as Viagra) and the political stuff.

I forgot about Aflac. I love that duck for more reasons than it's commercial. :0)

The commercial that I absolutely hate is probably only seen in Texas. It's advertising a Texas home building co. that builds custom homes wherever you want them. They say that people don't know how to find companies like them. They show a woman walking out in the country and she is hollering, "are there any home builders out here?". It makes it look like a Texan isn't smart enough to figure out how to find a home builder.

I dont even know what they are selling, but I love the one with the piggy hanging out the window going "wee!, wee!, wee!" all the way home.

I have to giggle quietly to myself 'cause no one else thinks it's funny....

Currently, I too like the Geico little pig that goes WEE WEE WEE! It is so unlike the commercials that I normally like, but it makes me laugh every time I see it.

Geico commercials are always my favorite.

I also like the Old Spice man on the horse, always cracks me up.

Maybe I am the only one who likes the little pig that cries wee wee wee all the way home.

Geiko commercials, for sure especially the wee wee one. Aflack ones are cute. Hate Flo and the nerdy guy w/ the telephone on his belt. Love ALL animal ones and the Humane society ones w/ Willie Nelson and Sarah MacLaughlin make me cry every time. Hate hate all political ones too.

I like the piggy crying Whee, Whee, Whee. Our DGS (5!) wants to play the 'baby toes' game again after seeing it. I can't understand what the sullen driver calls the pig, though. She says, "You're HOME, (Whatever)." It's a GEICO commercial, so maybe that's his name.

I like the cavemen too. "Mule rides"! Too funny!

We see the Chevy ads on "Hawaii Five-O". I'll sit through a lot to get some glimpses of Hawaii.

I love the little pig in the car. When my cat is in the room she always turns to the tv and reacts.

LOVE the hamsters on KIA Soul.
    Can't stand Progressive bumpit girl.

We usually mute the commercials but we love the pig and the etrade baby. The newest one where he's in trouble for riding the dog is so funny.

Hate all ED and KY commercials.

Chisue, I think the pig's name is Maxwell. The driver says, "Max...Maxwell! You're home."

Love the Bridgestone Tire commercial , driving on the moon.

I like the Humana health care commercial with the little children with a grandparent. The kids all give reasons they love their grandma or grandpa. One little girl is sitting with her grandpa and says, "They call us Frick and Frack." Those kids are so cute.

The political ads will have me crazy by November. Those and a local ad for car dealership Bob Dance. The ads are on just about everytime the show I'm watching goes to commercials. Bob Dance does his blurb and then his daughter--I'd say she's 9 or 10 says, "Bob Dance, where everybody rides." She's a cute kid (kinda reminds me of a mimi-Vanna White), but her voice is grating and irritating.

The Petsmart one with Bobo! Sooooo cute. He carries his toy around so much that it becomes ragged then goes to Petsmart to replace it.

Here is a link that might be useful: Bobo!

I think it's for Sparkle, a paper towel. Kid drops his ice cream and an elephant laps it up. So he does it intentially, mom grabs the towel, no ice cream for elephant. So he kicks the garbage can as he leaves in disgust.

I hate the ones with the doctors sounding like pages and pages of side affects of whatever they have just prescribed for their poor patient.

My favorite is the Pop Tart kid dancing in the kitchen and the one I hate is Progressive Insurance!

I love the M&M commercials. There isn't a stinker in the bunch. I love red and yellow discovering that Santa is real. I love the one now, with the little guys tossing food out of the snack cubboard and the dad tells them to "Get in the bowl!"

I guess I'm easy, but these commercials crack me up.

There are car dealership commercials that are regional. They are for Fucillo, done by Billy Fucillo. He's always screaming about his HUGE deals. Gets on my last nerve.

Love the "you get in the box" M&M commercial. Laugh every time.

Hate the "there is no discount for agreeing with me" Progressive commercial.

I like the one wher the guy with a Russian accent ends up sitting on a couch
kissing the tiny giraffe. I hate the Jimmy Johnson Extend commercial no respect for him after that.
Also like the Geeko and other Geico's and the weeeeeee.

    A&W has hilarious commercials.
The manager is just so laid-back and easy going, and the server is kind of geeky and is just so funny.

    The two are perfect together.

M&M "Get in the bowl." "You get in the bowl."

One that drives me crazy is the Restasis (eye drops) ad with the supposed eye doctor who "uses it herself." She has the strangest eyes and an uber-soothing uber-sickeningly sweet voice. If she were my eye doctor, I'd smack her.

I, too, love the Kia Soul commercial with the rap hamsters (I love the look of the vehicle, too--had to go see it for myself when doing the first chapter of car shopping).

Thank goodness for DVRs--you can fast-forward through lots of commercials very, very fast!

oldgardener -- Thanks. I wonder why "Maxwell"?

marita40 - I agree. That 'Eye Doctor' looks 'morphed' to me.

I wonder how regional some of these commercials are. I haven't seen the M&M one, or one for A&W.

I wish we'd join the rest of the world and ban commercials for prescription drugs. Only the USA and New Zealand permit these.

I also wish we limited political campaigns to a few weeks or months as they do in other countries. We wouldn't have to hear them, and politicians wouldn't have to spend their careers pandering to big contributors. Good for us all!

I don't really have a favorite. I'd like that pig commercial more if my morning routine wasn't interrupted every morning by my 6-year-old yelling 'Mom! Mom! Come quick!' as if the house was on fire but he just wants me to see that commercial again LOL.

One commercial I dislike is the coffee commercial where the daughter tells her father about her engagement the previous evening but then he lets on that he already knew about it before she did. I'm not a fan of the 'asking for your daughter's hand' stuff to begin with but she looks about 35 so it bugs me even more. You shouldn't be the last one to know about your own engagement.

I think my favorite is a Subway commercial where the guys are sitting around the break room, speaking in kid voices and the "bully" comes in and demands the sandwich. "Larry, I'm your boss!" "So?" That cracks me up everytime. It's on YouTube but I'm too busy to try and find it and link it.

I love the commercial with the Bull Dog who rides the skateboard in the house.

    Hate...political ads

i forgot about the Cheese I cinge when it is on and the cheese is telling jokes Natco cheese not your cheese!!

My absolute favorite from Liberty Mutual. (I had to look up who it was from). I LOVE these commercials-they are so simple, but it's just people helping one another. Someone gets a quick glimpse of a favor and they start to pay it forward to the next person.

Maybe they are corny, but it's just sort of refreshing to see nice people in the world!

Here is a link that might be useful: Pay it Forward

I seriously cannnot stand the woman in the Progressive Insurance commercials. She makes me want to scream everytime I hear her annoying voice!

And funny someone should mention the Restasis (eye lubricant) commercial. I find the patient so smug or 'something' the way she is comforted by the fact that her doctor uses restasis too. Ick.

The Geico Woodchucks chucking wood. I just saw that one and it made me laugh out loud. They've made alot of amusing commmercials. But, I am sick of many of the others, plus Geico really did my mom wrong even though she had been with them for 38 years!

    I'm tired of Flo, too.

Least favorites...geico...and progressive insurance...OMG enough already..
There is commercial running on football sundays..wher they play the song " Cause You've Got Personality"...love that commercial for the music..

I also don't like the Restasis commercial. The Dr. asks "How long have you had this?" answer "For quite some time now!" "Have you tried anything?" answer "Yes, lots of things." Another I don't like is when "Sweetie" goes into a refrigerator coma. "Quick! Preheat the oven". Funny, I saw one that I really liked last night but can't remember it now.

Guess I'm just not watching as much TV anymore but I haven't seen many of these. Don't have a favorite at least that's been broadcast in recent history. 20+ years ago there were some really good commercials on TV and radio too for that matter but now it's mute or change channels.

Least favorite: Political ads, that asinine St. Jude's commercial when mommy goes "I'M SCARED TOO!" (but at least it seems they pulled that - there's a different one now), any feminine "freshness" or the Viva Viagra commercials. (Elvis must be spinning in his grave... unless they gave him a Cialis when he died.) And I don't give a hoot about "Little" Jimmy's Johnson, sheesh. Even Terry Bradshaw wouldn't do that commercial. I want to say grow up but there'd be an unintended pun there.

At least now there's a good reason for weight gain. Going to get snacks during commercials. Bring back the cigarette commercials. They were creative and entertaining at least. Frank Bartles and Ed Jaymes, we need you now more than ever though the Betty White & Abe Vigoda Snickers commercial is not bad.

fav is Traveler's Insurance a disney-fied look at animals around a watering hole, i love that! most hated is Wing House...when you say game time we say Wing House (VERY LOUD TOO) in our house my DH (he's anti-sports LOL) says 'when you say game time i say shoot me' LOL. ~ liz

Just saw Maxwell the pig. I think the driver was giving him a ride home. I loved it. I think you have to hand it to Geico they have a big variety of Ads not just one playing over and over.
    IMHO
