Having said that, I wish my phone had better choices. It's soon time to renew the contract, & I sure hope the next phone has improved ones. My last phone I had Winter Wonderland as my ring tone. Never!! had to wonder if it was *my* phone or not :-0

My sis has a different ring for each of her kids, & I think, her husb. Don't know if the kids do or not. And my oldest & his wife have special tones for the mothers.

Some of the ringers really iritate me. So I have a regular ring on mine except for when my youngst son calls. He recorded himself saying "Answer the phone Mom". And set it as his ring tone. I have to smile everytime he calls and I hear his voice.

When I first got a new cell phone in 2001, I often wouldn't realize it was mine that was ringing. One of my daughter's recorded a message that it played instead of a ringtone. It was "MOMMY, answer your phone!"

I actually miss it now that I have a new phone. It may have been embarrassing, but it worked!

How difficult is it to put a ringtone on your phone? Do you need computer software? Getting too old to understand all this technical stuff but have a tone I'd dearly love to have on my phone. Thanks, girls....

I've "emailed" several ringtones to my cell phone.

DD: Drunken Pirate (pirates are our thing)
DS: Mission Impossible (son is very much an action figure in his own right)
BF: Green Acres (we both know all the lyrics,but can't remember what we ate for lunch LOL)

I change my others quite often. There are plenty of free sites to download from but my phone has a record option and then I can save it to "ringtones".

Koda - you could Google "free ringtones" and I'm sure you'd come up with a bunch of sites.

My phone is a Nokia 6126. It came with a bunch of ringtones, one of which is called "Jazzy Piano" -- and I like it, so that's my default ringtone.

This phone can hold one of the MicroSD cards (and, of course, I have one). I can take the card out and put it in my card reader attached to my computer, and transfer ringtones (and photos, etc.) onto it just as if I were moving or copying files from one folder to another on the 'puter. Ringtones can also be sent to the phone via SMS messages, then saved to either the phone itself or to the MicroSD card. I can go onto the Web with the phone and get ringtones, too.

I can, and have, created calling groups. One is called "Brothers" and my hubs' four brothers and their wives are in that group. The ringtone assigned to the group is Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits. I do not have a graphic assigned to that group -- yet.

Another group is named "Heart" and the graphic is, of course, red hearts. The phone numbers assigned to this group are our two landlines at home, hubs' cell phone, and hubs' work phone. The ringtone is Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore sung by Il Divo.

Ringtone for my older sister is Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. Graphic is the Eiffel Tower ('cuz she speaks fluent French and loves Paris).

Ringtone for my younger sister is Over the Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. She's in LaLa land half the time...

Ringtone for niece Elizabeth is Surfer Girl by the Beach Boys. She's more of a snowboarder than a wave surfer, but she surfs, too. :-)

Ringtone for niece Maggie is Maggie May by Rod Stewart because (duh) her name is Maggie.

Ringtone for nephew Daniel is Danny Boy sung by Elvis Presley because his name is (duh, again) Daniel.

myxertones.com has a lot of free ring tones. You just have to register but at no cost. When my mother calls my phone says( Hey shut up,it's your mom calling, hey answer the phone it's mom. When DD calls it says, duh your phone's ringing, answer your phone. When son in-law calls it's a rooster crowing ( well you know the reason for this one)grandson's is the mightymouse theme song, an old friend is the oldies rockinrobin. and if someone calls me from our home phone it's an alarm. DH says i have way to much time on my hand to go through and find each of those. Maybe so but if i'm standing in a store and one goes off i have people asking where i got it.

well, I give. I tried several sites, but all want to send me a text message. I don't text message, and thus, don't have texting on my plan.

I will just have to record my own sounds.

Moni -- you may not have a texting plan that allows you a certain number of text messages each month for a set fee, but you do have the ability to receive a text message. AT&T, for example, charges 10 cents per incoming or outgoing message. You can sign up for a 200-messages-per-month plan for a $5 monthly fee (and for a higher monthly fee you can get unlimited messaging).

But unless you have had your carrier specifically block the ability to receive text messages, you CAN receive (and send) them.

Most of the ringtones are in mp3 format, and are small in size (because they're usually only 30 seconds or so in length).

I would be more than happy to e-mail to you any of the ringtones that I have. You can then save it to your computer, then double click on it to open Windows Media Player, and record it by holding your phone in front of your speakers while it's playing... ;-)

Lindsey, I have tried the recording from the computer, but find it isn't a very good quality.

But I have recorded stuff off a music CD running on the stereo, and that sound is a WHOLE lot better.

Got some really nice classical music right now as my ringtone. Still looking for "it", LOL, but if I can't find "it" I can live with what I have.
