Go to a Verizon store and ask for help. Or, call Verizon's tech support number.

I'm not sure if a transfer can be done or not, but if not, I'm sure they have an available ringtone with that tune that you could get. They can help you with this approach too.

Did you make this ringtone yourself or is it a built in one that came on the phone? If it it's a built in one that came on the phone there is no way to transfer those that I have ever found. I make all my own ringtones and store them on the micro card so if I get a new phone I have access to them or I can transfer them via Bluetooth from phone to phone. Mary

If you have the right software - in this case BitPim would work - you can just extract them. That's one of the features and purposes of the software.

I have used bitpim on my old Verizon flip phones to try and get a built in ringtone off and it didn't work for me so hopefully it will work for the poster. I couldn't even get bitpim to work with my old ENV2 and 3 to do the same. Mary

I had a snag getting pitpim to work on my win8.1 laptop. I think my win7 desktop doesn't have bluetooth. I will scrounge around my local 2nd hand shops for a usb cable. I also heard from some googling that others say proprietary ring tones won't transfer. Yes this ringtone was built into the VX 8300.

I think as phones have gotten smaller and lighter, that they have lost their tone and volume. The LG VX8300 really put out the sound. The demo on the phone played thru two verses, but if my memory serves, when receiving a call, it would play thru three increasingly complex iterations. I occasionally would let it ring awhile before answering, just to listen.

I think the main hurdle might be - besides getting Bitpim to work - after you extract the ringtone, being able to convert it to a format compatible with your new phone.

You'd probably have to have a media player that has the codec to do that. It might be Qualcomm's qcp or pmd, which I think have codecs available.
But as long as you can play it, you can convert it some how, some way - to something more universal (mp3, etc.)

If you get it off the phone, let us know what kind of file it is and I'll see if I can help convert it.

On that phone the built in ring tones are most likely midi format. That's the only flip phone I don't have here but pretty sure that's what it is. If your new phone has a voice recorder you could just record it onto the new phone. My desktop doesn't have blutooth but I bought a rocket fish bluetooth adapter for $20 that plugs into the USB. Works perfect with my smart phone and hubbys badic phone to transfer files. I have an otterbox case on my phone so a pain to take it off all the time to get at the back cover to take the memory card out so this was an easier solution and cheap. Mary

You can get it from this site. I have the Lumia 520 and have gotten a lot of ringtones and wallpaper from this site. Just click on the blue button that says Get Ringtone and download it to your computer then transfer it to your phone.

No, it is not the same although it is getting there. The link below is similar and gets chopped, but my phone tone is even better and as I said, I believe it goes three verses.

I'm sure I could learn how to record directly; I'm sure the Nokia has that ability. I would enjoy letting you all know what it sounded like as well. What might I do to get a recording and more importantly, get it to play here? If necessary, I could set up a mic. I also have access to an I-pad or my modern win8.1 HP netbook.

Read you manual for the new phone, I bet there is a voice recorder. Even my basic phones had a voice recorder. Mary

There is a built in recorder. I don't know if the quality of the mic is poor, or if the playback is the weak link, but I can't distinguish the second verse from the first. I haven't determined if the headphone jack is also mic input. If so, I may try a better mic.

I am still surprised that no one else with more knowledge than me hadn't already released this ringtone to the web.

Maybe just hook a mic into the computer and play the phone into that mic to record the audio then save or convert it to MP3. MP3 works best for ringtones. I make a lot of my own from scratch for my phone. Mary

If you have the song you want on your hard drive. If not you can always download one.

You can make your own ringtone with this site. You can make it whatever length you want in an mp3 format. I have tried it and it works perfectly.

Once made, save it to your hard drive and transfer it to your phone.

I just had another thought. Those little digital tape recorders hook to the computer to get the recording in but not sure what format they save at and if they can be converted to mp3. I was looking at one in Walmart not long ago and it was not that expensive. Mary
