I'm going to the store to buy ingredients for Shrimp Gumbo to take to our 92 yr. old Galveston Evacuee Friend nearby here. She mentioned she was hungry for cornbread so I'll make that too. Then take it over for an Evening visit.

We love sitting on the big front porch at her Son's house. Lots of Squirrels that come up on the porch and beg for nuts. One little baby squirrel let me fed him by hand. Not one bit afraid.

So far, I've vacuumed, placed up the house (we're leaving the country house to head back to the suburbs later), worked on my quilt for an hour or so. Worked on some recipes I'm writing. Did a load of dishes in the dishwasher. I've already gone around the house unplugging most of the unnecessary stuff (still have to close the windows, clean and unplug the fridge, load the car).

DH has been replacing/fixing some of the outlets and junction boxes in the basement.

A little later, we'll get changed, and head home, stopping at a favorie restaurant on the way, for lunch.

Would like to hit some produce stands before we leave--so much better than the supermarket produce at home.

I'm working in the yard, but came in the house to eat a bite...going to throw a steak in the electric skillet and flip it over and eat it before it gets warm. I have some crab legs that I am going to have later.

I have to run to town to get oil for the lawnmower and to check thrift shop dumpster for some possum blankets. It's getting cool at night and I'm running low on possum clothes.

Have no clue. The only meat I have in the freezer right now is boneless, skinless chicken. Maybe chicken chili? I have a bunch of tomatoes from the garden I really need to use up.

Made a big pan of meatballs yesterday and the lemon bars, so it's leftovers tonight.

So far, sausage and biscuit and large black coffee from Mickey D's. No idea what comes after. I did cook last night, cornbread and blackeyed peas (from a can), buttered corn from the freezer and some smoked sausage. With pickled beets. Maybe cereal for supper.

We have been gone since Thursday morning, just getting home now. We have eaten out the whole time, and it seems like that is all we did!!! :0

We had stopped at a little bistro on Friday and had a great sandwich...well I had 1/2 of it. Had been in the cooler since then. Dean is eating that and some cheese and crackers. We were in Wisc. yesterday and picked up some WONDERFUL cheese! My favorite is the olive & munster! Mmmmm I just had some crackers and cheese and a bottle of water and calling it lunch!

Tonight??? No clue...I would be happy with cheese and some ham on crackers.

Tonight it is spaghetti and garlic bread, salad and ice cream for dessert. I am fixing things in double quantity so that Mike and Bobby have meals while I am gone on vacation.

Just me tonight, so I'll probably have leftover lasange and a salad.

Well, so far today, with just receiving the news of the death of a cousin, it's SIX Rice Krispie treats and nothing else!!! LOL

I've walked the floor, scarfed those down and then Twinkie covered me up with a blanket on the couch for awhile.

Hey, a girl's gotta cope however she can.

Well, decided to make 15 bean soup with the tomatoes from the garden, and cornbread.

Oh Kath, now I'm hungry for Bean Soup with maters and cornbread. Sounds sooooo good!

I haven't decided on what I am going to make....maybe potato soup and a tomato salad of some sorts.
I have steamed a Kabocha squash and have the puree in the freezer, I have roasted some garden tomatoes, garlic and some Anaheim and jalapeno peppers and I plan on marinating/pickling some baby carrots.

Not sure, homemade pizza or burgers and dogs...

I've been tiling my kitchen back splash today..and have to limit my "washing" and cooking so I don't splash on my handiwork..I'm in the adhesive curing stage...In a few days, I'll be in the grout curing stage. lol

So dinners will be simple, until the project is complete!

Had a big lunch out today so we probably won't have much of anything for supper.

DH and I got home from the JETS game at 5:20pm where we tailgated since 10:30am. We just shared the leftover Italian sub sandwiches with orzo/spinach salad, and DH had some canned chicken soup.
