Baseball Decor Steps Up to the Plate
Now batting: baseball-theme murals, a rug that mimics turf and a busload of sports memorabilia, just in time for opening day
Here we go! The boys of summer are back, as the 2012 Major League Baseball season starts today. This also means lazy days playing catch, fielding grounders and hitting practice. It means sitting out in the bleachers to catch some sun, watch the people walk by and take in a game. It means hot dogs, peanuts and suds to wash it all down.
But most important, it means we're all equal, starting out exactly zero games behind. Could this be the year my beloved Cubs finally overcome the curse? Let's hope so.
By the way, if you've never had a chance to listen to James Earl Jones reciting "Casey at the Bat" or Harry Caray singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," you're in for a real treat.

Perhaps this child will be the next Roy Hobbs (the baseball prodigy in The Natural). As he or she lies in bed staring at the sky, dreams of hitting that game-winning home run can fill his or her head. How sweet and inspirational is that?
Lucky child who gets to sleep every night in their own personal Field of Dreams.
My favorite catcher of all time has to be Yogi Berra. Maybe there were better catchers, but Yogi's ability to communicate was his true strength. Who can forget lines like "It's déjà vu all over again" or "The games not over until it's over."
Just because we're grown up and our room decor is more sophisticated doesn't mean we don't still enjoy the game. In fact, a few prized bats and other memorabilia, or ...
a framed portrait of a baseball great keep us forever young. How appropriate for a game that isn't tied to a clock and time.
