Another year has passed, time to remind you...

Of these beautiful words that my daughter carried with her and tried to live by. This passage has been around for years, but bears repeating often.

On This Day

Make An Effort To

Mend a quarrel,

Search for a forgotten friend.

Dismiss a suspicion and replace it with trust.

Write a letter to someone who misses you.

Encourage someone who has lost faith.

Keep a promise.

Forget an old grudge.

Examine your demands on others and vow to reduce them.

Fight for a principle.

Express your gratitude.

Overcome an old fear.

Take two minutes to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Tell someone you love them

Tell them again,

And again,

Yes, these are words to live by. I think everyone should consider printing these out and posting them where they could be read every day.

Hi Celeste, hopefully your waiting game is over soon and your roses are starting to leave out. On the other hand for us Gardenwebbers it's not a bad thing, that you are posting pictures of your beautiful roses to pass the time until then ;-). I bet when you really can go out and work in your garden with so many projects and roses to care for you are busy like a bee! All of the roses you have posted are very lovely, but of course I have some favorites: I love white roses and Baltimore Belle seems to be so beautiful. It must be very nice to sit underneath her! Gros Choux d'Hollande has a perfect flowers shape and I love the button eye. Baron Girod de L'ain is incredible pretty with his beautiful color with the white edge, nice flower shape and strong fragrance. I think that this is a very special rose and unusual rose. I am eying BGdL for quite a while and may have to figure out if I am able to grow him here. I kept Rose de Rescht for the last, because she is the most admired rose by me of the once that you have posted this time. You have a very beautiful bush and your photo captured the essence of this rose very well (both the bush shot and the single flower). I find that her fragrance is to die for. The best thing for me is: I HAVE this rose already. I got her as a very teeny tiny band this winter and just yesterday she opened her first flower for me. I am looking so much forward for her to mature and just cross my fingers that she likes my garden and wants to develop her full potential, here. I am also very anxious to see how large this rose gets in SoCa! Thanks for posting! I am looking forward to more photos of your incredible garden!

Gosh Fun2BH, are you in my part of the country? Phoenix. I can't imagine not using A/C with 100 degrees. The older I get, the harder the heat seems to be on me. I'm glad you're enjoying the Fall pictures and hope you decorate along with us the rest of the year.... and next ;o) Luvs, I miss many of our old gang too. Judith taught many of us sooo much, and she was the reason I found this forum in the first place. I'll always be indebted to her!! I have no idea where the two Lynn's are, and Frou. Hope all come back. I'm sure Yacht will be here soon tho, now summer is ending. I should check Tam's blog and see if she still keeps it up, her decor was gorgeous... as well as Dining Delights. I often think of Betty and her DH Alfred, and hope they are doing well. I'm so anxious for the Fall holiday decorating to start and just know more our buddies will be back. What!? I love your now defuct plan! Did he not see how beautiful it was? You should get a medal for showing so much restraint. Or at least a glass of wine for the pain in your tongue from almost biting though it. Gotta love our DHs though, keeps life interesting. We are past the point of no return since our cabs are ordered, so I swear if my DH pulls that with me I will lose it! I hope you end up with another plan that makes you initial vision come true! I'll be watching for your new layout thread.

Where have all the roses gone, long time passing?

I kinda know about what you mean about tossing a beautiful rose because of black spot. For me, Babs was that rose. Beautiful purple blooms with pin point centers and a great smell. It would be covered in black spot before the blooms had a chance to really look good. Then when the temps got to the upper 80's it completely shut down. Nothing. No new growth. Nothing. A hand full of green branch's that just sat there until the daytime temps stayed in the 70's. Then new growth that got black spot before a bloom would set. I must admit that when I saw the title of the post I was immediately rushed to 1968 in Nam in the middle of a stinking nasty rise paddy or on the banks of some stinking river or stream, getting dead American boys ready to go home after a nasty battle. One of a very few songs that stays with you always. Don't get me wrong. I'm very proud of my unit and the men that fought next to me. We didn't run and hide. We did what we were asked to do by our country. Be it right or wrong. (Co.C 3rd/47th, Mobile Riverine Force, 9th Div)

gazania and wanda, and anyone else who has lost a child, I am very, very sorry for your loss. I hope you have found or will find some peace in your hearts.

My husband's youngest brother drown 28 years ago at 16 years old. He was the baby of the family, last one of 6 at home, just finished 10th grade. I honestly thought it was going to kill my mother-in-law. I can't fathom that kind of pain, and I pray everyday that God doesn't test me.

If everyone in our towns/cities lived by such a standard ... what happy places they would all be!

So ... let's make the effort ... and recruit some others.

Katlan, my mother lost a son (my brother) when he was nine. I heard Mom say many times that there is no hurt deeper than that of the loss of your child. She was widowed at age 47 and years later said that loosing Dad was very difficult, but up till her passing at age 92 she still said that the loss of little John was the most difficult time in her life.
Would that no Mother or Father have to endure that kind of loss.

My daughter was 45, just 4 years younger than my Dad when he passed, but she was still my baby. Our children no matter the age are our babies.
