That is very unique furniture. Very pretty. I wouldn't want to have to dust it though. :)

Very interesting Ron. But it looks a little to flimsy to me...I would worry about it falling apart when people are sitting on it or if it got wet. Is it glued together or nailed in some fashion? What an interesting concept, taking small pieces like that and molding them into a shape. Were they really expensive?

i bet they're brad nailed together...at least on the larger pieces...you can see the rust/discoloration marks...very rustic sort of like our willow furniture...

I am just so sad to look at that furniture. That driftwood is being harvested from the devastation that the tsunami left. Its all they have to work with in some areas. Its good to see that the survivors can get money by selling the debris left from the tsunami, but still so sad.

31 May 2005, Dhiggaru, Maldives: Hussein Moosa used to be a fisherman on Dhiggaru, a remote island in the Maldives. Today he spends his days collecting and chopping up Indonesian hardwood, which was dragged out to sea when the tsunami struck on 26 December last year. The timber is now beginning to float ashore in other countries across the region, posing a hazard for the speedboats that ply the waters of the Maldives, but also offering a possible source of income and building materials for the thousands of fishermen and their families who have lost boats and fishing gear.

The hardwood, which would fetch hundreds of dollars per cubic metre in western countries, is being sawed into planks for use in boats and to fix houses on the island of 1,200, where 14 families are still displaced from the tsunami. Full story follows."

I think it would vacuum off easily enough with a brush attachment. It would be cute on a rustic cabin porch, kept under a roof.

Definitely have to be placed in a rustic setting. That's a lot of work in those pieces.

I've always been fascinated by wood and woodworking. Also, the idea of using materials that are on hand. (I try and do that in my landscaping. For instance, build a boulder retaining wall instead of buying the unattractive precast concrete blocks that are so popular these days.)
Many of you are right, it wouldn't be the most comfortable. And definately for a rustic setting.

All it needs to be more comfortable is a cushion. But I think they look like they're made out of grey bananas.
