Good Morning on Friday

Well, made it through Thursday with all the work going on with the wall. A very hard job and slow going so far. Cheryl was here all day and helped me in the house. Amber joined us for lunch and supper. I made a big batch of refrigerator yeast dough and have that ready. Today, not sure if anyone will be able to work on the wall or not, so don't know what to plan. I want to get some pie dough out of the freezer and bake up a couple of pumpkin pies. I have plenty of pumpkin in my pantry. We had chili soup last evening, I think I ate too late in the evening as it didn't agree with me. The weather is really nice, but so dry. Farmers are really busy getting the corn, soy beans, and tomatoes out of the fields. It makes a lot of dust at times. We may get some rain tomorrow and I hope we do to help settle the dust. Laundry is also calling me today, I have one load ready to toss in the dryer and another one to get washed and dried. I think I should get off here and get busy, how about you? What are you doing today?

I'm going to pick up dogfood that is donated by Walmart for the wildlife, and I am going to my friend's house to take care of her animals. She left this morning for a month long trip, and I will be staying at her house most of the time.

She is a wildlife rehabber also, and has 75 raccoons.

Good morning........... I will get my laundry done also. Need to go get groceries because our 3 grandkids are coming for the weekend. I will go pick them up when they get off the bus. Mom and dad are sneaking off..

Jaybird, I have a hard time finding capris since I am only 5'1"--many of them are almost long enough to be slacks! LOL Hey, when it gets hot, I go for cool and comfortable--forget the fashion police! Isn't it great that your granddaughters are so thrilled you are coming? Have a great time. Karen, I had to head towards the Mall today on an errand, so I did run into Marshall's to see what new dishes they might have. Really no new things that excited me. They did have some fish shaped bowls, but they were much bigger than I would want, also saw a cake pedestal in the red Bordallo with the little stars--very pretty. I have to say that they sometimes let their stores get so messy. They really need someone who could arrange the displays of the dishes better. So many things get broken too. Some of those tall glass jars had chips in the top or lids and many plates and bowls have chips in them--so sad to see that. Sounds like all your family have headed off to cooler locales. Good thing they have you to take care of the home front. Good that your DH and DS enjoy golfing together. Can't wait to see your ebay finds--can we look forward to a Monday post? Kathleen, I just read an article in a magazine about your neck of the woods. I wanted to tell you about it, but now I can't remember which mag it was in. It was an article on vacation destinations--named several of the neat shops too. Glad you are all well and busy. I'm waiting to see if I need to drive over to the nursing home today to sit with my friend. The temp is 13 and it's snowing lightly for now. Suppose to get 3" by 7pm. tonight. I really don't want to go out and feel very guilty about not wishing to sit with my friend. Her man friend is bringing her down this way to an eye appt. and suggested that I drive her back to the home (40min. away - about an hour for me since I drive SLOW on roads like these). I'm not feeling good about doing that, but don't know how to say no. He's going to call later and let me know just how the roads are for sure. I gotta make up my mind what to tell him. Go or stay home. Ugh. Of course if I say no that means he has to drive her all the way back and he can't stay all day after sitting with her all night last night!

It was a very chilly 44 degrees this morning in central Florida. We had to go to Gainesville to the plastic surgeon to have Harry's stitches out. We no more got in the door when they called him back and two minutes later we were on the way home. It's still pretty cold but will be back in the 80's early next week, so I'm enjoying it! I feel like baking something, but I don't know what.Every time I think of something, it would require a trip to the store and I'll pass on that!

Thanks, all! Celeste, you are right about Butter Cream - I first saw it at a daylily show maybe 8 or 10 years ago and knew I had to have it. I was in awe (and still am). At that time, it was hard to find and the price was 3-4x higher than it is now... I finally bought it two years ago and paid around $25. Yes, Mantis, we got .22 inches on Thursday night and another .06 last night - yay for a little rain! Nat, I didn't show any of the ugly FFOs - Bullfrog Kisses is one that I'll wait to show when/if I get a good bloom! Dick, I traded part of my RFK and moved the remaining 2 fans when I did that in May - I was afraid I wouldn't even get to see it bloom this year... in my spreadsheet I see that it's FFO was July 6th last year. I have not gotten rebloom on RFK, but it's in a better spot now, so maybe I will in the future! Maryl, yes, that's one of my everlasting allium :)

Going to McD's for breakfast then to Ace hardware for some WD 40. I am trying to get a couple of bird feeder poles separated so I put them in a new location. I didn't realize they would be so hard to separate. That is the only thing on my agenda. Have a good day everyone.

Marilyn, are raccoons harder to take care of than possums?

Sue, I'd love for you to comment on my thread of making dough by hand or using a machine. With the amount of pies you make I'd love your input.

I have laundry out on the line on my balcony. Cool and sunny here today.
I'm in a test group for a vaccine for ovarian cancer and have a follow-up with the gynecologist this afternoon.

So far I've cleaned the Florida room and the kitchen and washed the bedding. It's in the dryer so after I get that back on the bed I'll clean the hall bath. The living room/dining room don't get dirty but I'll run the Roomba.

I only needed a few things from the store so I sent Harry. He likes to grocery shop.

I spent the morning cleaning up the yard and driveway. I have a shag bark hickory tree that the squirrels use as a launching point to throw nuts at me and the two dogs! Lots of shells and twigs to clean up. Then I had to take Carmelita in for her final (16 weeks) puppy shot and we scheduled her for spaying on the 23rd. She'll be 4-3/4 months old and the vet thinks the sooner the better. She just needed to weigh at least 4 lbs. and she weighed in at 6.6 lbs. today! She is growing up so fast. Still a little grocery shopping I need to do before my chores are done for the day.
