Oh my gosh... it is raining at my house!!!

I was out working in the yard. It was cloudy. It cooled off. It got windy. There was thunder, and then rain. I didn't come in till I was all wet.

Will post pictures later.

Well, for to long promises of rain didn't deliver, and thus, I was out on a bike ride. I wrote this about it: What are the best biking friends? The kind, you can call up and they are ready in next to no time to go for a ride with you. The kind that once it starts raining, ride with you in the rain, and "yoo hoo" when the thunder claps. The kind that say: lay the bike down... when you are stopped at a red light, during a down pour, and make swimming motions... and say: Lets go for a swim. Thanks Esther! She is that kind of riding friend. She rode to the Paseo Arts Festival with me, even made me a peanut butter sandwich... and wasn't perturbed at all, when it started raining. We were the only gals leaving at the festival (on a bike) during a nice heavy downpour. What a hoot! Of course, I had started riding from home to the Memorial Day Lakes to Lakes ride. Stopped to help Sherry with a flat, and then called Esther once we got to the second lake. I had a FABULOUS ride. Thanks to both Sherry and Esther!

funcolors: I was SO HOPING you would see this ! I was going to post something to get your attention and approval. I have read your article in haint blue so many times and was going to send for a sample from you. Would you like a paint chip from this ? I would be more than glad to send you a piece of the wood with paint. This is like a treasure hunt for sure and I hit gold. What kind of paint would you suggest on a covered porch in the South ???? Are you kidding!? Yes, I'd love a sample and will reimburse you for shipping & handling! Thank you. I'm so excited that someone is sending *ME* a sample of Haint Blue! lol! SW Duration in matte would be a good choice. Duration's film actually goes on at the thickest mil rate than any other exterior brand. Thickest mil rate meaning the paint film is nice and fat. And that can be a good thing for exterior substrates (surfaces). The haint blue story has been so incredibly interesting. I've heard from people all over the world -- really it's amazing. The store has been very helpful because I was getting a ton of phone calls and emails. A few aren't a problem but it kind of started cramping my time management. And that's why I created the store -- I just don't have time to talk to everyone who wants details about Haint Blue. I'd be nice if I had that kind of time because it's very fun hearing all the stories but reality creeps in. Moving to the southwest, I've learned about Taos and Mayan blue as well. I don't feel confident writing about them yet and I really don't feel confident enough to create my own interpretations of the colors. Maybe this summer. I dunno, not sure.

What a wonderful story! And congratulations on your lovely new furniture. I can hardly wait to see them in your home. Your story reminds me of something similar that happened to me about 15 years ago. I drove past an antique store every day on the way to work, and kept admiring a maple corner hutch in their window. I told my husband about it and said that I wanted to run in and check the price when I had a chance. But a few days later it was sold. I told my husband I was kicking myself for not making it in sooner, because I had really loved it. The next day when I got home from work, it was all set up in the dining room, with my dishes all arranged on the shelves. Turns out he was the one who had bought it! It was such a lovely thoughtful thing to do - it made me cry! What a guy!

Oh my gosh... I just realized, it is Friday the 13th!!

Well, it turns out my Friday the 13th was a lucky day for me. After years of working long stressful days at the office while living with chronic pain, a doctor wrote me a note for four weeks off. During that time off, I will undergo x-rays, MRI and CT scans to assess the various problem areas (neck and lower back) and hopefully take some much needed action to correct what we can. It's just been so difficult to get away for dr. appointments without impacting my fellow designers with additional work while I'm out. But after a number of friends and family insisted I think about me and not everyone else. I got myself in to see a spine specialist. Yea! I can sure use the time off to heal and get my head back on straight. The pain just wears me out. Jodi-

I just talked to my mother in law in Oklahoma and she said they got a little shower too and it dropped the temps a little.
I hope y'all get more.

Well, it wasn't much.. not even 1/10th of an inch... but it was wet, and wonderful. Smells nice out. Temp dropped from before I went out @103, to after I got in @86.

My daughter is jealous... she only got a few sprinkles.

Lucky you. It rained twice here today. The thunder woke me up from my nap. We didn't get much at all from either rain.

Snd it over our way. I felt a few sprinkles this morning but no rain. These lower temps have been nice.

Moni, I'm jealous!!! It went around and around us here, got up to 107 today on my porch (eleventh straight day of over 100 degrees) and right now it's 89 in the dark. The pool water is like bath water and that's after the sun starts setting. :(

I hope it rains soon, the fire ants are coming to the top trying to get away from hades lol.

It's amazing how the little things in life can bring such joy. Of course, if you've gone so long without rain, it's no little thing. LOL You obviously enjoyed. I enjoyed the video.

Cute video...and nice to hear your voice. We often see pics of people but haven't a clue as to what they sound like. You are only the second one who's voice I've heard, Marilyn c with PiggySue was the first. Thanks for posting.

I love rain. Last year we had a lot, this year not so much. I never complained last year when everyone else was. It smells so good and everything looks so much fresher. Glad you finally got a little.

Amarillo had some heavy rain for about 15 minutes yesterday afternoon...wonderful!!! Glad you got some showers, too.

All my windows and back door is open... it's about 66 degrees.
of course they were all open all night, it was about 58 degrees this morning at 515

Granlan - Out here between Amarillo and Canyon we received between 2/10 and 3/10 inch of rain yesterday evening. Oh, everything smelled so good and I actually watched rain run off the roof of the shop! Our pastures are dry as a bone and I welcome any and all rain we get. Oh yes, we had a new Beefalo heifer yesterday morning. She's a cutie.

Here's prayers for more rain in Oklahoma and Texas! We all need it..........
