Oh my gosh... I just realized, it is Friday the 13th!!

No, I am not superstitious... but still, I wanted to point it out. :)

Friday the 13th is My Lucky Day! I got my successful kidney transplant on Friday January 13 2012. Thanks for the reminder-I must celebrate today!

OK; Buddy---you see how much you've been missed---don't be coy. When I pick up beer bottles along the roadside while walking my daughter's dog, I've often thought of you. When Bicycle Charlie comes and hangs out down by the river for the day, with his knapsack stuffed with food and beer, camoflauge jacket and wide brimmed, beat-up hat, I've wondered how you're doing. I see him leave in the afternoon and wonder about you again. Solitary life, but happy enough and content with himself. Your individual paths find their own routes when I remember the galaxies of separation in your thought processes and your particular ability to take any given day and turn it into an excerpt from a battered novel, which when opened, allows weathered pages of life-lived-on-the-edge to fall where they may. One has the choice to pick up a page or two and read them, or to leave them as they lay and continue on their way. I have to chase them as they're blown about and catch what I can. So much of this world is worded pablum, contrived situations passing for reality, cocooned lives rolling over those who have nothing between hurt and their vunerable skin. You remind the reader life is to be lived and endured, to be celebrated and once again, endured. And you never, ever sugar-coat it. That is why I remember you. That is why I will never, ever forget you. You remind me of Richard Abbey---he got out before you did---not that he wanted to. I'll never forget him, either.

Doncha just hate when they ruin a perfectly good idea? I feel the same way about the "Jack Ryan" movies when Alec Baldwin no longer played Jack. Don't get me wrong, I adore Harrison Ford's presence, but he didn't play him the same. And don't get me started on the Batman movies after Michael Keaton left. He is the consummate Batman.

The sun was shining so I took the dog for a long walk--looking for signs of life. The forsythia are still frozen in time and half open (for the past 3 weeks!). Saw the first of the early tulips. It was great to be above 40 for once but snow is coming tomorrow. Other years I've had 'winter depression' but this year I am really getting close to 'spring depression'. The dang rodent said there'd be an early spring. Six weeks from Feb. 2nd is March 16. Give me a break! One snow storm in April is sort of normal. Two solid April weeks of freezing weather?--unheard of. Not having fun here! Yep! wendy2shoes is right! Can't garden, can't do housework, can't smoke. May as well drink!

Welcome to Arkansas- don't worry about the snakes and such- you'll get used to them- We moved to North Central Ark about 12 years ago from Wisconsin and have never regretted it- Be prepared to wave a lot when out driving- for some reason everyone waves at every one else- and don't ever think that you can just "run" in the store to pick up something quick- people here like to talk- a LOT. I have been known to spend over an hour getting a loaf of bread!!! It's nice though- if you ever find yourself stranded on the road people will stop to help no matter what the weather! We live outside the very small town of Salem and it took our 2 older children some time to fit in with the locals but when they did they found friends for life- our 2 youngest were born here and I wouldn't raise them anywhere else- If you have ever heard jeff Foxworthy talk about rednecks you know what its like here!!! ( most of what he says is true) As far as the bugs and such- no different from anywhere else, Jonesboro does have a lot of mosquitoes though because of the rice fields. We get copperhead snakes once in a while- usually when they are out sunning themselves- they are not aggressive so if you leave them a lone they will leave you alone- we get a lot of black snakes too- they are good but they can get big so they seem scary- the biggest one we had here was about 7 feet long. We also have a lot of Armadillos that like to dig holes so watch for them- we generally just chase them off because we're not sure how to kill them. Where we live though our biggest pest is the squirrel- we have hundreds of them and they will eat anything- one year they dug up over 100 tulip bulbs that I had just planted- That is about all I can think of- the people here are great- none better anywhere. My twin sons were born on the 13th of September (25 years ago), so I don't feel it is an unlucky day at all!

I am hoping it does not become bad luck here, it is once again raining and no where for all this water to go. I really dread the possibility of my house flooding.
I hope it will be a good day!

I don't let the friday the 13th bother me...unless I'm having a terrible day and then I will blame it on the "friday the 13th" LOL

Friday the 13th; the Dow Jones average went up 200 points and we got a sprinkle of rain the first in a month. We had passed into the severe drought condition. We've had only 0.9 inches of rain n 2 months, so even a small amount of rain was welcome. Our Friday the 13th was good.

Well, it turns out my Friday the 13th was a lucky day for me. After years of working long stressful days at the office while living with chronic pain, a doctor wrote me a note for four weeks off. During that time off, I will undergo x-rays, MRI and CT scans to assess the various problem areas (neck and lower back) and hopefully take some much needed action to correct what we can.

It's just been so difficult to get away for dr. appointments without impacting my fellow designers with additional work while I'm out. But after a number of friends and family insisted I think about me and not everyone else. I got myself in to see a spine specialist. Yea!

I can sure use the time off to heal and get my head back on straight. The pain just wears me out.

After 6 months of intensive searching, hundreds of looks online, many dozens of drive-bys, and about 30 viewings, we found THE house we want to buy on Friday the 13. So we bought a lotto ticket, too.
