Here's a toy I made for my grandson

I knit this for my 1-year old grandson. The pattern calls for button eyes and a red tongue which would have been much cuter, but I didn't think it was a good idea to add loose things for him to put in his mouth.

sameboat..wow I'm so greatful for your kind words..Thank you. luvs.. he's loved crafts, ever since he was a little guy, and with creativity on both sides of the family, also has a natural talent for drawing. minnie...I know what you mean about the weaving, and was impressed that he picked up the technique very quickly. barb...I think 'he' made great memories for me too!! They grow up so fast, and then - on to other things. cheri..thanks I will let him know...isn't it great fun to work w/your grandkids..seems you always can make the time for them to do it. Funny,for the longest time, he's been wanting to make those reindeers logs...Now, I've got to show him what you made w/the angels...He'll be real impressed!! craftylady...I will pass on the 'WOW' to him..and I'm sure he will be somewhat embarrassed that I put them on here..LOL I taught Arts & Crafts for 22 yrs..to kids from 3 - 12 yrs. Those were the happiest times working with young children, and enjoying their creativity as well..

You should not have mentioned her illness at all in your email to her. You say one pleasant thing and then give her a zinger. "We enjoyed having the baby" was fine, but then you say "sorry about the circumstances". Don't be ashamed(imply there is shame),pray she gets better, etc. Not nice things to say to a women who has PPD. Don't write any more emails to your son or dil. She isn't thinking clearly right now. You aren't helping the matter with the emails. Talk to your son either face to face or on the phone. Politely ask your son if your dil is receiving help for her PPD and let it go at that. Thank him for the SIDS info. I don't think she was rude to you at all. She is suffering from a very real illness. As the other poster said...it is Not about you. Don't try and make it so. NancyLouise

Thanks, Ladies gadgets - I think he is doing ok in the new school. At first he was very upset, not by just changing school systems, but then about which school he would have to attend. But, he is making new friends. I'm not sure how he is doing about homework and such. He should be getting a report card soon and I'm assuming it will be an average of his grades from both schools. I haven't called him this week as I feel his mom thinks I'm being pushy, so I'll call over the weekend. peg - That must have been very hard to leave your foster brother behind even if it was the best thing for him. :( mammie - thanks for thinking of him. I am also hoping it works out. I'm now past the self-serving phase of wishing he would behave so badly his mom would send him back. *ouch*

It's knitting Alisande. I have ADHD when it comes to knitting, so making something this big drove me NUTS (and it's baby size, so it's not THAT big even). Jason is 8 weeks old...and I started this about 6 months ago. Kept putting it down because I'd get bored! Vickey

That is cute. Yes it is easy to crochet one as well. I used to put some jingle bells in a small medicine container that had a child proof cap and put that inside near the end of the tail.

Thank you, everyone! I definitely am not talented; as a matter of fact, I think I should be a much more skilled knitter than I am after knitting so many years. I go on Ravelry and look at some of the work there and am humbled beyond belief!

Susan, right, it is like a giant sock with no heel, except it tapers to a point for the tail.

Okay, that is just too cute AND a perfect way to use up all the left over yarn! I like Heather's idea for a rattler, too.

I will have to try crocheting one. Knitting needles and I do not get along so well.

aaahhh that is so cute!! I had a little frog from material when I was little, it had beans in it i think...was my favorite toy, i think my aunt made it.
