Big Love (the TV show)

I'm almost always a latecomer to TV shows, especially those that are on cable, so it's no surprise that I'm only about six episodes into the first season of Big Love.

What a great show! It didn't intrigue me when I first heard about it, but I recently got curious--and then I got hooked. I don't watch TV every day, so it'll take me a long time to get through all the seasons.

I started watching The Sopranos at the same time. Another great show, but I find Big Love more entertaining.

Anyone else like it?

I've never heard of Big Love, but I will check it out.

We just started watching The Sopranos last night--the first episode didn't grab us, but we expect it will get better.

We just finished watching all 192 episodes of "24"--that was a great series.

We now have Blockbuster and Netflix, to help us catch up on all the shows we missed when we had the large dish satellite--with the tree interference.

Yes, we loved Big Love. Amanda Seiyfried played one of the daughters, and now she is a big star in her own right. Great acting.

The Sopranos will suck you in, Wanda. Excellent, excellent series.

My 80" big screen only cost me $700. I bought our projector a couple years ago and it has served us well. For the average family I would say it is the most practical route to go if you want a big screen. The one I have is only a cheap one, but at 800 X 600 resolution it produces a great picture especially with the right input. I get the best picture by hooking my laptop to the projector and playing DVDs, that way I get the full 800 X 600 resolution that is as good as or maybe better than high definition TV. We mounted our projector on the ceiling and just project on to a flat white painted wall. I have used a proper projector screen before, but found it wasnÂt any better than the wall. The projector screen wasnÂt wide enough to handle the full screen and wide screen format with the projector at a set distance even with the adjustable zoom feature, but with the wall we can easily switch between full screen and wide screen without adjusting the projector. I have a friend who has a big plazma screen TV that he was having some problems with, it was still under warranty, but still it is no easy task taking those things in to get serviced. Make sure they service them locally or you could end up paying some big shipping bill. Our living room is pretty small 12ÂX16Â, so for most of our TV watching at home we just use a regular 20" TV, but when we want to watch something special we break out the popcorn and switch over to big screen :)

Yes. I was a fan of Big Love and actually saw it the first time around. I know what you mean about being a latecomer to new series. I've spent half the summer trying to catch up on Scandal and Homeland. Despite what a lot of foks think, I think there is a lot of good stuff on television if you have extended cable and at least one premium station.

For Christmas the kids bought me a BlueRay player and a netflix subscription. I've watched all the past seasons of Army Wives, I'm up to Season 11 of Midsomer Murders and just started Monarch of the Glen.

I loved Big Love, was absolutely fascinated by the relationships and the true beliefs, especially of the first wife.

Fran, I agree. I think TV shows have gotten dramatically better (cable series, and even some non-cable network series) and dramatically worse (some of the reality shows) in the past decade or so. The Sopranos was probably a groundbreaker.

Maire, Netflix and some DVDs are catching me up, albeit slowly. I watched the first season of Once Upon a Time, and was surprised to find I loved it. I've never been interested in fantasy, but this one really hooked me.

I'm on Season 2 of Midsomer Murders--way behind you, possibly because of my short attention span. A two-hour show, even reduced by the elimination of commercials, is a lot for me. I rarely watch movies because it takes me days! Of course, that would probably be different if weren't watching by myself.

I hadn't heard of Monarch of Glen, but friends have urged me to watch Game of Thrones. And Lost.

Wanda, I, too, was disappointed in the first episode of The Sopranos, but Sleeperblues is right. :-)
