I had a busy day as usual around here. My supper was just a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Love them with homegrown tomatoes. The weather was rather nice today. We had a good rain overnight.

Muggy and damp fits my situation, but with one exception. We had 3.90" of rain within a six hour period in my part of Ohio.

My main meal today was lunch at the Ponderosa with a gal I used to work with over ten years ago. Food was "meh" but conversation was very lively.

Threatening skies moved out, making an easy decision to hit the sandbox for Happy Hour. The August sun is nicely intense, but not enough to push it past 90. Popped a frozen pizza in the oven. No anchovies, but drizzled with hot sauce. Kool Aid. Easy lunch tomorrow. Ice Cream w/ fresh Raspberries.

Chicken wings were on sale a couple of weeks ago. Cooked on the grill (no sauce) with a couple of raw carrots fresh from the garden and a potato salad with purple potatoes from our CSA.

It had been super humid, but it finally rained (about .5 inch) and the humid air got pushed aside. Forecast for the weekend is mid-90s with lots of humidity to make if feel like 105+! Yuck!

We have bbq left over from last night so we will finish it off.

Buckwheat/buttermilk pancakes with pecans (inspired by the buttermilk thread) ham sausage patties, fresh fruit on the side. Hit the spot, as I'm sure Jasdip's pancakes did!

Sue, BLT's are so good! I'll have to buy some bacon and do that.

Shirley, I didn't know that Ponderosas were still around. I'm glad that your dinner companion made up for the so-so food.

Jim, bbq wings are good without the sauce! Even better with home-grown and CSA grown veggies.

Raven, gotta love leftovers. We have leftovers regularly, as I don't know how to cook enough for just 2 people.

Rhizo, I usually make pancakes from scratch with flour, egg and sour cream. Could I just use buttermilk in place of the sour cream?

Jasdip, I don't really know the answer to your question. I use buttermilk in place of the milk in my recipe. Do you use sour cream instead of a liquid?

Basic recipe:

1 cup buckwheat flour

1 tsp. baking powder

2 T. sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

1 egg, beaten

1 cup buttermilk

2 T. melted butter

Great additions include chopped toasted pecans, blueberries, chopped dried apricots, raisins, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, peanut butter, etc.

I can't remember the liquid that goes in my recipe. I have to look at the recipe. Isn't that awful? LOL . I'm not near my recipe book but thanks for your info!

We are in Louisiana so I had some very good food. I had a small cup of shrimp gumbo, some fried crawfish tails and a little bit of crawfish etouffee and a side salad. Excellent.
It is very humid here and hot the mosquitoes are big enough to carry off my little dog I swear. Thankfully the truck just came by our rv spraying for mosquitoes.

Raven, years ago, my ex-hubby and I took a road trip to N.O. in September. I couldn't believe how humid it was! Had a great time, and the food and music was fabulous. Oh, and the antebellum mansions! Oh, just out of this world gorgeous.
