I got the Job

Went in this morning for my interview at a long term care facility, where I did my clinicals.. The woman that was hiring was busy and so the girl that I did my clinicals with came and got me.. She told me she already knew me and didn't have to interview me.. It was supposed to be for every other weekend, but she is giving me the hours of a woman who is out on Mat Leave.. I have orientation on the 19th. I also beat out a woman who was a nurse in a hospital with experience. I also have an interview tomorrow at a place a little closer to home (the one this morning took 1 hr 10 mins) so I will go there and see what they have to offer me.. If its more money and more hours. I will have to take that job. RIght now I need to look after us so the more money and more hours the better.. Will let you know what i decide

What wonderful news! I'm so very happy for you! Your 'small world' reminds me of this one ... when DH was interviewing for his first civilian job after retiring from the Army, (30 years ago) the potential boss asked about his service record. Turned out they had both served under the same Major at different points in their careers ... AND ... both had the same opinion of him! It wasn't a good one! LOL! Common bonds are wonderful introductory points when strangers meet. I'm glad you were able to find common bonds with the principal who interviewed & hired you. I just know you're going to do a terrific job, Jewels.

Great news!! So pleased for you!! ps... if you need boxes for moving... try at a dollar store.. and end rolls of news print from a local newspaper is cheap or free [and free of ink!]... Can't wait for details after you start!!

I think you're very right in keeping your options open & making the decision on which job to accept based on *your* needs & situation, weighing the pro/con of each offer carefully. Don't forget to look @ what the opportunities are offered for career growth & advancement.

I have to say that their not interviewing you is a bit concerning to me. You deserve an interview... that doesn't strike me as being very professional. Part of a job interview is a chance for you to ask questions & get a feel for what kind of place it is to work for. Nevertheless, perhaps you are familiar enough with the facility & know other workers enough to not have that lapse be a barrier for you.

Best wishes for today's interview. I hope you get an offer there too. Nothing like 2 or more offers to boost the confidence.
