Are you using a mouse pad or using it on the table top? I started using it on my desk top and it floated...but I got a mouse pad and the problem was solved.

I suppose there could be an interference problem. I don't know the frequency band that your mouse uses, but did the problem start after you added a piece of electronic gear that uses electromagnetic waves, say a new cell phone, a portable house phone with base station, or a new server for internet use? Maybe a nearby neighbor has added a boost to his modem/server. Perchance do you have blue-tooth equipment running?

Check your mouse instructions pamphlet. Does it have a choice of frequencies on which to operate? If so, try changing channels.

Mine has been doing that too...off and on for the lsast few months! Then it freezes up and I have to go get my son's to use. His is now doing it on my computer but not as often as mine does it. After a few days it'll work fine again....it's so irritating! I have no idea why!

Did you push the little button on the bottom after you put the new battery in? That changes the frequency I believe. .try that and also push the connect button again. .Debbie

Mouse pads wear out, too. You need one with good traction.

Is your mousepad light colored or has a design? With a optical - plain dark is the best. I had that problem with my cordless mouse - but I discovered that my pull out keyboard shelf has just a little slant -just enough that it made the mouse move ever so slightly, especially when I was banging away on the keyboard.

The mouse pad is immaterial when it come to optical mice...and all wireless mice are optical.

The mouse pad was used on old mice that had trackballs, and the ball had to roll in order to work...the mouse pad gave it traction.

Your problem is in the mouse configuration...called the "Properties". Go to the control panel and select mouse devices, then select your wireless mouse and click.
one of the properties of a mouse is the cursor speed.
