I haven't found much difference in them, I've only used 2 different brands. I used Logitec for years, now I have a Microsoft and both are fine. I do pick out a big one for my desktop because it is so comfortable to lay my hand on.

I have a Nano Cordless Laser Logitech..I had the other but I needed something that would reach from across the room. I hook my laptop to my TV in the bedroom..and wanted to control it from my bed. This one works perfect..the other one hesitated and I would have to move closer. It did work good using it by my computer.. I guess it all depends on where you want to use it.

Pick whatever is on sale. I have Microsoft, Longitech and don't see any difference. Same with the wireless keyboards. Just bought two, small laptop mice from Staples. They were cheap and work really well.

I agree with what's been said, DA...I've noticed no difference in brand names etc. They all work about the same, and all work well.

Pick one that feels comfortable in your hand! I have a Logitech laser mouse. It works perfectly and fits my hand - just doesn't get any better.

Logitech and Microsoft seem very similar but consider one with multiple buttons, it is very nice once you get used to them. I have a Logitech MX1000 with 8 buttons but generally use about 5.

Now working on computers with just 2 buttons and the wheel seems quite awkward.

Since I have developed carpal tunnel so bad in my mouse hand I try to urge people to go with a very good hand posture mouse it can definitely help prevent carpal tunnel and also give you much easier use of the mouse and keep your hand in a healthy position. The ones that have more of a side ways twist to them are much better than the plain flat or hump ones, you want to have your hand in more of a side resting rather than a palm resting position. They call it a hand shake position, this keeps the bones in your arm in the proper alignment rather than putting them in a twist as they are in a palm down position.

I have many various brands and they are all pretty much the same some last longer on batteries than others. One thing to check is the size of the usb dongle some are wider than others and if you have to put it into a usb port with something in the one right next to it if it is too wide you end up blocking a port, I have one that does that. I like the ones that open up and have a place to store the dongle so you don't loose it.

you can google ergonomic mouse and see a variety, the one I use now is not a wireless but it is an awesome mouse and helps my hand tremendously.

I have to agree with previous posters. I have a Logitech laser mouse that came with a wireless keyboard and really like them both. Later I bought a Microsoft wireless mouse for my laptop computer. I can't say that either is better than the other. Find one that is comfortable for your hand, and if you can get it at a sale price, so much the better. By the way, I use rechargeable batteries, so I always have freshly charged batteries when needed. I have yet to change the keyboard battery in over a year; the mice do require changing more often.

I jumped the wireless ship a couple of years ago. I have a wireless Microsoft that I do not use because it ate up the batteries too fast for me. Logitech mouse with a USB tail -- no battery.

First of all thanks to all who shared their input. I never try to be smarter, learned or informed than I really am.

Lunch break right now as I am in the midst of a lot of tree trimming so I unfortunately don't have much time this weekend. I know if I had the time I could research this so I lazily must ask, what type of batteries are we discussing?

Two - double A's

I use both MS and Longitech. The batteries last forever. I just changed my office batteries after a year+.

I lost the small thingy (senior moment) that goes into my laptop for the wireless mouse. I chose the new mouse because the thingy was shorter, less likely to be broken because it doesn't stick out so far. It also can be stored in the mouse.

I also use a Microsoft wireless mouse. My son bought it to go with the wireless keyboard when we built my computer at Christmas of 2007. Unfortunately my computer has crashed and I haven't yet had a chance to work on it. So I bought a laptop and I am using the wireless mouse with it. I just have the wireless receiver plugged in to a USB port and sitting behind the laptop on the table my laptop sits on.I also use rechargeable batteries in it.

Hey, DA, you can throw that chain saw in your vehicle, when you make your next Ky trip. I sure could use a few things cut down around here. :-)))

I had a few minutes before my helper got here for day two of the Paul Bunyan adventure so I went to Amazon and looked at their offerings. I agree, I don't think I would purchase a mouse without seeing/testing it physically for feel and comfort, but it was a one-stop look-see.

Hopefully this is the last question as I feel lazy in not researching this myself. I just don't have the time right now and the old mouse is "circling in the bowl". I would hate to transfer a ten year old two-button mouse from the garage system onto this system.

Their seems to be an extensive price range, $12.00 to $99.00. My thoughts are to stay around $30.00 or less. Am I on the right track?

I have plenty of rechargeable batteries around so that will not be a concern.

You missed out. In May the chainsaw and I were down your way doing our thing at my son's. If I had known I would have stopped by. I will be down again in three weeks as we have some more work to do inside. We are finally going to put up the shelves and install the doors on the walk-in closet I built in their master bedroom when he had his back surgery. Plus, a few other things.

My GE mini mice I got there for $10 each and have had one for about 4 yrs and liked it so much got another one in case it ever died. They will vary as to type of battery and how long the battery lasts. Some have docking stations you can put it on to charge it, I have lots of re-chargeable batteries around but I prefer using disposable AA in mine, buy those at big lots too.
Some will automatically go to "sleep" when not in use so that saves on battery life.
I hated the wireless keyboard, I got a logitech combo set with the mouse and keyboard and ended up returning it. Had so many problems with the keyboard I have not tried another one.
All of mine plug into my kvm switch that sits on my desk so they don't have to go far to be plugged in.

I was not able to hold or try my wow pen joy ergonomic mouse before I ordered it but I have been delighted with it, I do wish it was cordless at times though.

Well since we last talked the original mouse started to become way too unreliable. I had to make an emergency stop at Walmart. I purchased a Logitech Wireless M205 for $20.00. It is supposedly a notebook series, but it serves me just fine.
