While trimming large trees on a two lane road we had to close off one way and cone traffic to the other side putting opposing traffic in the parking lane and no parking signs. This was set up for a couple months and moved along block by block. There was a wire running down the middle for street lights suspended from cross wires from poles. A flag man was holding back traffic so one of the climbers could drop a large limb over the street. A lady in a Cadillac did not want to wait, went around the flagman and got close enough for the wire to come down on her hood.I think she needed a change of clothes. That happened in 78.

This is so weird now it is out of control. I put 2-3 tiny water lettuce from the main pond (with fish) to the little pond that I completely drained and scrubbed out this spring. There are no rocks or any places to hide, it's small, and I got everything out of it before I filled it. So last night I'm out with my flashlight to check the tadpole I put in there (who is fine BTW thanks, sprouting little legs too) and as I see the tadpole swim under some water lettuce for cover out swims another fish! He looks like the poor little fellow I found that morning, just maybe a little smaller. A bird may cough up one dead fish but not two and not still alive! I'm wondering what killed the other guy I saw. I don't tend that pond much beyond topping off the water (with treated water) and pumping air into it, the filter & pump never really filtered out anything just kept some water flowing down the rock cascade. I did treat the water with PraziPro (as I'm treating my pond and indoor tank too) on Saturday but that is supposed to be very safe stuff. Huh! jalal: Thanks for the compliment! I'll see if I can find out a name for the grass. We got it from a friend who was chopping huge pieces out of his garden. It will grow without bounds over the years. Very hardy and comes back like clockwork every spring. I even have one clump 2 years now growing only so-so but it isn't planted! The root ball is just sitting on the ground. sleeplessinftwayne: That's a funny story. I'd love to see the fish jump from pond to pond or tank to tank. I wonder how they know which way to jump?

Hi Celeste, hopefully your waiting game is over soon and your roses are starting to leave out. On the other hand for us Gardenwebbers it's not a bad thing, that you are posting pictures of your beautiful roses to pass the time until then ;-). I bet when you really can go out and work in your garden with so many projects and roses to care for you are busy like a bee! All of the roses you have posted are very lovely, but of course I have some favorites: I love white roses and Baltimore Belle seems to be so beautiful. It must be very nice to sit underneath her! Gros Choux d'Hollande has a perfect flowers shape and I love the button eye. Baron Girod de L'ain is incredible pretty with his beautiful color with the white edge, nice flower shape and strong fragrance. I think that this is a very special rose and unusual rose. I am eying BGdL for quite a while and may have to figure out if I am able to grow him here. I kept Rose de Rescht for the last, because she is the most admired rose by me of the once that you have posted this time. You have a very beautiful bush and your photo captured the essence of this rose very well (both the bush shot and the single flower). I find that her fragrance is to die for. The best thing for me is: I HAVE this rose already. I got her as a very teeny tiny band this winter and just yesterday she opened her first flower for me. I am looking so much forward for her to mature and just cross my fingers that she likes my garden and wants to develop her full potential, here. I am also very anxious to see how large this rose gets in SoCa! Thanks for posting! I am looking forward to more photos of your incredible garden!

I can't take credit for the above post, it was a copy and paste from a Facebook friend. Those southeners wouldn't know what to do with an English tutor. I'll never forget my first visit to my cousins in Texas. (I was 18) My cousins looked at me and said, "Y'all talk just like the man on the radio." I like the lutefisk idea. But, they would probably flush it down the toilet, it would show up in some waste treatment plant, and then the EPA would get called in for a toxic waste cleanup.
