Will someone *please* speak to the zipper in my overalls??

I'd do it myself ... but when one wants to influence someone to deal with one in a way that one finds more acceptable, the use of profanity ... or using that tense, strident tone that usually results in having teenagers shift their shoulder between them and the speaker, get an anxious expression on their face and that glaze-over on their eyes ...

... isn't conducive to producing the desired result.

Having had some trouble with a shirt-tail getting caught in a zipper earlier, I decided some time ago that in the interest of not only convenience ... but, possibly, safety, it would be well to use two fingers to pull the mover on the zipper, while running one's thumb along the side of it that runs on the inside, to keep the shirt-tail out of the zipper as the mover moves along, knitting the two sides of the zipper together.

This morning, even while following that procedure ...

... I got the shirt-tail well and thoroughly caught in the zipper ... with a bunch-up on the left side, and extending out over 1/4" beyond the right edge of the mover ... and for a short distance down below it, as well!

I've been able to move it a small distance down, but it's really jammmed ... and I've developed a broken edge on my thumb while twisting it back and forth.

I picked up a plastic bag and headed down the lane to the mailbox, figuring that I could work on it while walking ... and the landlord, after laughing, told me of a term that they use for such a conundrum: a new one to me ... and I've forgotten it, already!

Brought in the mail, dealt with it ...

... talked on the internet ...

... and the jammed zipper's still jammed.

Causes complications when one visits the bathroom, as well - that's when one is pleased that the overall is not skin-tight!

And thankful that the jamming occured within about 4 inches of the bottom of the zipper!

I'm wondering whether this little escapade will result in a holey shirt!

Any advice will be appreciated.

This is the overalls - not the coveralls, where the two sides of the zipper are finding that they're inclined to develop a hostility between them and part company ... more frequently than they used to!

ole joyfoulled zipper

foul language, too!

P.S. Another term for the look on the teen's face could be, "stubborn" ... which is one of those double four-letter-words: don't know whether two undesireables together are worse than the sum of two singles.

But farmer Dad, who had lots of farm chores on hand and some kids floating around after World War II started in 1939 and the farm workers went off to war, used to say,

"When you have one boy ... you have a boy ...

... but when you have two, you have half a boy ... and when you have three boys - you have no boy at all!".

As you can imagine - Dad had three boys.

I don't know whether he'd heard that one earlier or thought it up on is own.
