Adding my prayers for Aly. In my younger years, I worked for the National Heart Institute, so I had the honor of watching the heart surgeons at work. Even back then (late 1960s), it was amazing what could be done. It takes a special person to become a heart surgeon, and God watches over them and guides their hands. I'm sure she will be fine, but the emotional strain on the family takes a toll. Tell her she will have the power of KT prayer with her as she enters the operating room, and please let us know how she is doing. Hugs!

She is in good hands. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Kids usually bounce back from heart surgery quite quickly. She probably will be feeling a whole lot better in a few weeks than she did pre-op.

She's on my list, too, and it does grow longer every day. My 2nd GS had heart surgery when he was 3. He's just great! These docs are so smart now. She'll do better than y'all.

Yes these surgeries a quite common now, but it is still hard on everyone. Hugs to you!

Coming out from lurking to offer my prayers. I had open heart surgery at 13 too, and it was many years ago, 1964 to be exact. I too had a clogged artery and a hole in my heart, along with a couple of other problems. I came through with flying colors, and am doing well today. I am sure Aly will too. You all will be in my prayers.

if you do, don't forget to take some pain med for the headache. a trashy book you can read the same chapter over and over...and do be sure to eat...and make sure her parents do too...that way everyone will be relaxed for when aly is in recovery and you get to visit. (((grandma)))

Bet she will feel much so better afterwards & be able to do things she has never had the energy for before.
