If you could say a prayer or two...

As many of you know, my mother has been sick for quite some time. She's been hospitalized 4 times in the last 2 months for various infections. She's home again with home health care. Very strong antibiotics for another two weeks. She's very weak and this whole thing has taken quite a toll on her body.

My brother David wasn't feeling well on Saturday. By Sunday morning, his wife finally convinced him to go to the ER. He's since been airlifted to a larger hospital and has had a confirmed heart attack. He's only 49. His heart catheterization showed 5 blockages of 90-100% and he's to have open heart surgery tomorrow afternoon. Needless to say, we're all stunned.

If you have a few moments - could you please keep him and his family as well as Mom in your prayers?

Thank you everyone for all the prayers, good thoughts and kind words. The hearing went well but the ALJ (administrative law judge) did not give me his final decision, I'll have to wait for that, 6 weeks to 6 months. After nearly three years of waiting, what's another six months eh? Pfft..yeah right! LOL!! My son and his girlfriend are doing better. GF is going back to work on Monday and is feeling so much better. My son is up and using crutches some, I have heard. I've not been able to speak to him because his cell phone is shut off at the moment. Why do kids procrastinate such things?? His employer told him to heal well and not to come back to work until he is 100 %. He saw the film of the accident on the news so he knew it was bad already when DS called in. Anyway, I saw his father yesterday and he did not know if appointments for the specialist have been made or not. He was going to stop by and check in on them but I have not heard anything yet. I'll let you know when I know anything. Day two and still no lower back pain!! It's a miracle, I am just in awe over it. I always thought acupuncture was probably all in the mind but I was very wrong. I don't know how it works but I love what it has done for me in just two treatments!! I know it will be short lived but I am going to enjoy every second of it while I have it. My yard is calling to me but I am resisting so far. Actually I feel completely exhausted and I'm wondering if it is a reaction of my body because it has suddenly been relieved of the burden it has been under for so long. All day I just wanted to go in and lay down. Tomorrow, I think I'll give in to that feeling, if it is there again. Thanks for all the support. At 17 months old, IBD is unlikely, but not unheard of . Fresh blood in cat stool is not that rare, nor is it necessarily a big problem. Many things can cause a bit of fresh blood in the stool of a cat, with the most likely being the kitty ate something that was not his normal food... plant material (eg. grass is a common cause), excess hair accumulation can do this (in allergic cats or ones with a lot of fleas for example), or a diet change. Dry food is often implicated in situations with bloody stools in cats... high protein, low carb diets are always best for cats (impossible with dry food). Glad he seems better. If he has blood in his stool once a month or less, I would not be too concerned, particularly if he likes to eat grass or you keep changing his diet. If he has fleas, get rid of those, or excess hair ingestion can be a problem... also, I might recheck his fecal sample at least one more time... sometimes you need to do a few tests before certain parasites show up. Tapeworms never show up in fecals but you can often see them in the stools. However, tapeworms rarely if ever cause bloody stools.

Bulldinkie, what he is asking for is ILLEGAL! Regardless of how he might spin it, it's illegal. Please report him on that website. Which one is it that is asking for money? Is it the one from Texas or the (claimed) 9/11 first responder? Please, please be careful. How horrible for someone to try to take advantage (to their own advantage!) of people who are already going through so much. My advice (even though you didn't ask for it!) is to have NO further conversation with the one who is telling you he wants money. Regardless of how much you need this, do not interact with him.

My brother is married and has three boys, 20, 17 and 15... the eldest is taking his last two finals tomorrow and driving down as soon as he can. Thanks...

Remembering them in my prayers. Your brother is young, so that's a plus for his speedy recovery. I'm sure he'll feel much better when his blood is flowing easily again.

And I hope the meds are working hard to help your mom get better soon.

It was so cold this morning walking the dogs that I didn't think to say my prayers. Thanks for the reminder and I will add your mom, brother, you and your family. That certainly must have been so unexpected to hear about your brother, but as someone else said, he is young and the surgery will make him a new man. Prayers for everybody there.

I know several people who have had this surgery, all with successful results, and I feel sure he will do well.
