Wow! They look awesome!

I have used that brand of glue on tips before and it worked well.Better than the glue that comes with the tips.
You remove them with acetone nail polish remover.Pour a little in a small glass bowl or container,submerse the whole nail and soak them for a few minutes to loosen the glue.Don't force them off.the nail will pretty much dissolve.Remove any glue residue from the natural nail the same way.Be sure to wash your hands and nails thoroughly afterwards and use a moisturizer if you aren't reapplying another set of nails immediately.It's also good to let your natural nails rest a few days before reapplying a new set.
I'm sure most of you already know this but here's a tip for applying fake nails of any kind.Wash hands and scrub nails with a nail brush and soapy water.Rinse and dry thoroughly.Soak a Q-tip or cotton ball in acetone polish remover and clean the nail thoroughly.Let dry completely before applying the nail.This will remove any oils from natural nails and help the fake nails adhere and stay on longer.

another one here who'll vouch for them! I've been wearing them since the early 90's...nailene, Revlon, Broadway...currently have on Nailene 31159..they don't seem to split down the middle like the other brands do!! There great! The only I do is round off the edges!

Pretty soon people will be able to identify someone as a KT member by checking her nails. LOL

Someone else can probably give you a better answer, Gail, but I'm guessing even if you bought a longer length nail (mine are Real Short) you wouldn't want your own nails to extend past the end of your finger.

Those look fabulous, Alisande. Gorgeous hands! I have tried that same nail a couple of times and it's worked very well. On my own hands I like the look of the sides rounded a bit more (not squared off), so I simply used an emery board on them and that worked just fine. It didn't ruin the nails at all.

confession time....I loved them so much I went out at lunch yesterday and bought them. I put them on over my lunch break! So, so easy....
I have never had my nails done...can't get past the cost of a salon.
My nails kind of hurt last night, reminds me of getting my braces tightened. But they feel better this morning.
It is amazing how well they fit and they really do look great!

A couple of comments ...

Sometimes I take a very fine, soft nail buffer and rub a bit of the shine off the nails to give them a little more natural look. They're so perfect you almost want to downplay them a bit.

Some brands do chip on the white tip so once that starts happening, I paint the nails. Or sometimes I just paint them to dress them up for a special occasion.

Some brands have white tips that don't take well to nail polish so if you decide to paint your nails and then notice the tips starting to bubble, that's the polish reacting to the white area. It doesn't always happen the moment you paint the nails. There can be a delayed reaction. This is a real drag to discover an hour into some formal affair.

Jodi...how many coats of polish do you have to apply to cover the white part of the nail? I've never painted the french nails but used to buy the plain nails to paint...it's so much easier to just put these on and go...when I painted that added an hour to my manicure time to just let the three coats get really good and dry!

Liz, I generally don't put the French nails on and paint them. What will happen is I'll be wearing them for a few days and hubby tells me we've been invited to some fancy affair. I will sometimes paint them for that reason, though as I mentioned, it's always a risk because I can never remember which brand bubbles and which brand doesn't (that would just use too many valuable brain cells LOL).

I put a light coat of polish on the tips, wait a moment and then paint the rest of the nail. Let dry and then add a second coat.

See what you started, Jodi? I swear, this could get addictive.......I'd forgotten how nice it feels to have attractive nails! And the other unexpected thing is after the third day I began to think of them as my own. (Uh-oh, wait till I have to take them off......)

after about 7-10 days they'll pop right off...I always have a bottle of nail glue with me cause they pop off at the most inopportune times! (i also carry extras with me cause you never know when one is gonna break and you gots to do a repair!)

They look awesome!! I'd like to know what the chances are of getting a fungal infection? I know it can happen with the acrylic nails from getting water between your nail and the acrylic but what about these? It seems like the chances would be greater because there have got to be more gaps in between. My neighbor has had that problem with acrylics in the past so she soaks frequently in alcohol to keep it from happening (very drying, though). I would just be careful and watchful. They look great, though!

I've been wearing them nearly daily for over 6 years. I've never gotten a fungal "infection" ... however, on two occasions a small portion of my natural nail turned a dark green. There was no open wound, infection or pain involved, just a very difficult to removed green color. Something I read led me to believe it was fungus but I'm not really certain what it was.

My natural nails on my right hand are looking incredibly good. They're long and pretty strong. But the nails on my left hand have some splitting and weakness problems and will take a little longer to grow successfully I think. As such, I will be putting on a fresh set of French nails for a 40 year class reunion this coming weekend.

These nails look fun, I'm going to get some just to play with. I never bother to do my nails, this looks fast and easy.

I've had that Green junk and it was totally my fault...I left them on tooo long...and had my hands in water a bunch...but I've worn them since the early 90's and only had it once...I treated it with clear vinegar and filed it off and voila!!...it was gone...

I had wonderful nails before I had kids...most peoples nails grow like crazy when their pregnant...I was popping the prenatal vitamins like crazy and my nails still went south...so after the DS was born I started wearing the nailenes and have worn them ever since..even when I was off work for 6 months for surgery two years ago I still couldn't grow natural nails...their thin, brittle and break if I just look at them so I've always worn the fakes...pretty nails and hands are a big part of my job...would you want someone handing you a coke with bit to the quick/ragged out nails? some of you probably wouldn't even notice...but I do!!

Do these nailenes fit better around the U of the nailbed than other brands? The few times I ever tried fake nails, they never looked natural because of where the nail edge met up with the skin/cuticle area. Gappy, bulky. Is that because I have small hands or was that happening to everyone and I'm just hyper-critical?

The box I bought (Kiss) contained 14 sizes. I used a total of 7 sizes because my left and right hands don't match exactly. All nails fit perfectly, much to my amazement.

I also saw a box labeled Petites, which you might check out if you have small hands.

Flames...before they started making petites I would file them to fit my nail bed so they didn't look so fake...now that they have petites I don't have too!

Flamey, for the nails that need to contour more or less at the half-moon end I lightly file the nail into a shape that fits better. Sometimes I even have to trim up the sides. If you do this, have them taper out toward the tip for a more natural look. My thumb nails are the only ones I have to do this with.

By the way, if a nail pops off mid-week I take my Genie nail buffer and remove as much hardened glue from the back of the nail and top of my natural nail before I re-glue (assuming I'm at home). Makes for a better fit.

I've been meaning to mention the "flat" and "curved" styles. Kiss makes the Everlasting and the Custom Fit choices. I've tried them several times and find they don't stay on as well. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary. The Everlasting version offers Flat or Regular. The Custom Fit offers three types of nails in one package. This is the set I've tried and don't care for. Perhaps my nails are none of the shapes or I'm using the wrong curve on the wrong finger but I just keep things simple and use other versions and brands. There are plenty of other brands to choose from.

Also, be aware that the French nails are offered in different color nail beds ranging from pink to tan. So if you're a red head, the pink or neutral color may look best on you.

There are also styles of French nail where the white tips aren't quite so obvious. I prefer those now. They have a softer look to them but I can't always find them.

And there are styles with a faint half-moon at the base, just like a natural nail.

Ha! Jodi, if you lived here you'd have to put up with snow in the winter, mud in spring, and oh, yeah--my housekeeping. Probably better just to buy the cameras. LOL

Mine are the Kiss Everlasting, which are curved. This is good for me, because my own nails are curved. This first set fits so well, in fact, that I'm hesitant to try any of the other brands or styles.

I was tempted by the Broadway Natural Deceptions (with the half-moons), but my store had only the longer length. They were very squared-off, so I knew I'd want to perform a little filing surgery on them. Maybe another time.

One can be thankful for so many things ...

... including that one lacks a camera, to take a picture of one's post-garden-experience natural nails ... that haven't visited a lavatory after.

My three that disappeared about thirty years ago were of the you-know-what-kind type, but even if I were to have a digital one, I'm afraid that I lack the knowledge to post it.

I need some tips on putting these faux nails without getting the glue on my fingers and having them stick together; getting the nail on a bit crooked and not being able to straighten it out because the glue had already dried; or which hand to do first left or right if you are right handed.

Any suggestions are welcome. I do like the ones that went on straight and fit the nail bed correctly. I just have a couple that are a bit "off."

I just wanted to let you know that I bought these nails in the petite size, opened the box, admired them, stuck 'em in a drawer and finally, now, 4 years later, gave them to the thrift shop. I never even put them on, how lazy is THAT?

Omigosh, was that four years ago?? Those nails did look nice, but I had difficulty removing the glue, and because of that and other things I didn't keep up wearing the nails very long. Certainly not after 2010.

I lost part of two nails from the cold last winter (good old Raynaud's), but overall they don't look too bad right now. I just have to trust that people don't spend a lot of time staring at my hands.

You were probably wise to give them away, Flamey. Plus it's unlikely the glue improved in four years. ;-)

Yeah, I figured the glue was all dried up anyway. I had even bought extra. I think I used it like Super Glue for projects. You know, open a fresh little bottle, use 2 drops, close it up and watch it harden, never to be used again. Next time, open a new bottle. LOL

My brother's GF wore long fake nails all the time, it was her signature look and she got them to come off merely by soaking her hands in hot soapy water. Gosh, I miss her and her crazy nails and loud laugh!

I stopped wearing them about three years ago when I decided to try a product to grow my nails out called Nail Magic Botanical Nail Strengthener with Horsetail. Worked like a charm and have not used glue on nails since.

The older I get, the stronger my nails get. So I don't wear fake nails these days.

I started taking Biotin and Vitamin D pills about a year ago and of course removed my fakes for my surgery in June...I actually have some decent nails and even cut them back a week ago...it probably wont last when I go back to work in Nov!

Okay, not sure why I looked because I could care less about nails. But, wow, you have young looking hands. Mine look like I am eighty and looked that way since my twenties! Any hints for hand care?

Cookie, they do look good in that picture, probably because a) my fingers are bent and you can't see the back of my hand, and b) the photo is four years old.

I've always been BIG on hand lotion; I hate the way my hands feel if I wash them and don't apply lotion afterward. I use a variety of products. And that's the total extent of my hand-care tips. :-)

My nails are looking great at the moment, with just Jodi's recommended Nail Magic product on them. But we're about to embark on winter, the season when Raynaud's really messes with them.

When I took my glue on nails off after about seven years. My nails were so messed up I thought they would never look normal. Really, really wish I had taken photos though because the difference after using the Nail Magic Botanical Nail Strengthener with Horsetail, is amazing.

The trick to getting your nails back in shape ... at least my approach is ... when I wash my hair I really use my nails to shampoo. As soon as I get out of the shower I clean under my nails real good with one side of a pair of tweezers because they are always nearby.

No matter how short your nails are, this visually makes them look longer. After they dry, I apply a thin coat of Nail Magic Botanical Nail Strengthener with Horsetail and let it dry, followed by one more thin coat. The most important thing at this point is to coat the nail, the tip and under the tip no matter how short your nails are. This keeps the nail from getting ragged and snagging stuff. As soon as that happens, I start peeling my nails and everything is lost.

I clean my nails the same way every morning and by day three, they already look longer. I add another thin coat of polish every 3-4 days concentrating on the tips each time.

Jodi, have you tried the Nailtiques Formula 2 that someone here raved about? I had a nail that kept splitting from abuse and tried Formula 2 based on that post... love the stuff! No more split nail.

To have nice smooth nail tips use a glass nail file! I learned of them from my BF who plays classical guitar... I tried one and haven't looked back. :)

It may have been me that told about the "Nailtiques Formula 2" That stuff is the best! My nails were peeling so bad and breaking/splitting all the time. It quit as soon after I started using it.

Then I tried another recommended product from Sallys that was suppose to be just like it Nail Tek II, its half the price and twice the amount but not near as good as the Nailtiques Formula 2 Its good as a extra product when your nails are in better condition.

I tried Nailtiques years ago and each time I used it, my lips blistered. Turns out I'm allergic to formaldehyde and toluene which were in that product and many other nail polishes at the time. Everything else I tried that didn't have those two ingredients was did not help my nails at all. And then I tried Nail Magic and have never looked back.

wow, Jodi, I've never heard of anyone allergic to either. How did you survive the frog dissection in school?! My poor lab partner actually had the formaldehyde squirt into his eyes! :p

LOL ... I survived just fine Party_Music ... the frog however, did not. :-)

I think my allergy to formaldehyde and toluene may have passed as I don't have as much trouble as I used to. But I don't really test for it often as when I do have a reaction (horrible blisters on my lips and sometimes a rash around my eyes) it is no fun whatsoever.
