I had to join Facebook in order to see all the current pictures of a new great-grandson. The first person I encountered there was a GD....she was really surprised to see "Granny" there!

Well, I joined, but now what do I do with MySpace? LOL

I set up a MySpace a couple of years ago (to see someone's pictures). Never did anything with it, then somehow managed to lock myself out of it!LOL Then,got invited to my DD's MySpace and set up a new one for myself. No one could "find" me by searching for my name and it's set as Private. Below is a link if you want to be added to "My Friends". Just let me know who you are!

I was invited to join Facebook and set up an account, but couldn't find my way around so just gave up on it!

My sister got me to sign up for facebook. Most of my kids are on it and a lot of their friends say hi on ocassion. Just sent you "wanna be friends".

Bump, I tried to add you to my MySpace page Friends but it says you only accept friends requests from people who know your name (Country Bumpkin didn't work LOL or email address, so it wouldn't let me add you.

I also have a MySpace page because my daughter (age 23) asked me to be her #1 Friend. How could I resist? :-)

I logged onto Face Book about a week ago and found a friend request from a name that sounded vaguely familiar.

Soon realized that it was the last name of a woman I worked with years ago in Washington, and the first name was her daughter's. We lost touch about a year after her daughter was born, and she retired to stay home.

I responded, and it was her! And the baby daughter is now a Senior in high School!

Ok, for us that are computer illiterate, what's the advantage of Facebook, My Space, etc.? Why can't the same things just be used with e-mail?
I was asked to be on a friend's list, but after trying to wade through all the legalites, I quit.
Can you please explain the advantage of having that.? TIA

Foggy, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn and probably a bunch of others I've never heard of are good ways of staying in touch/in tune with friends and family in a passive way.

Because of time constraints or other reasons, I don't always want to exchange emails when I'm wondering how someone is doing or what they're up to. In Facebook (et al) I can go take a look at their page to see the latest blog they've posted, new photos, how they're feeling comments, etc., without contacting them. I love it since I'm not big into emailing or IMing.

Oh, so it's really up to the "owner" of the page, to keep it updated, with pics., or blogs, etc. It's for the rest of us to check on them. It almost sounds like a lazy way out so they don't have to use e-mail. Is that what it amounts to? I do understand why e-mailing can be a problem for some people.
Do the people know who, and when, someone went on their facebook?

I opened a facebook acct. early this Summer. It's a great way of seeing what's going on in the kids lives. I've also become friends with many of the parents in our little town. One feature I really like is being able to upload photos and create an album. Friends can check out the pictures and ask questions or leave comments.

I just recently signed up. I had had a MySpace page for a long time, but it put so much junk on my computer and slowed it way down. That and the catty-ness between my friends made me crazy.

No one has answered the question of mine about the premise. If someone wants to talk to you, they leave a message?... like e-mail? Then do you e-mail them back, or leave a message on their Facebook too?

It is so cool to see all of the other KTers connecting with each other as well.

Foggy, the wavy words are used to keep automated spammers and such from making a nuisance of themselves. You are being asked to copy letters that are distorted and shown as an image instead of real text, automated systems cannot easily circumvent a system like that.

I just tried to log in to facebook and I get a page not found or a message that I'm not connected to the internet.

It finally let me log in.

I set mine to stay logged in. I just checked and didn't have a problem. Now if I could just get Photobucket to be that cooperative. *sigh*

Well....I'm logged in but that stuff in the bottom right corner says Chat is not available. Yes, I'd say they are having issues.

Facebook does seem to be having issues today...I've noticed that they've changed their format slightly in the past 24 hrs,so maybe thats the reason..just some minor gliches hopefully.
I love Facebook,and have found some long lost friends and relatives that I had completely lost touch with.

I was in Facebook a number of times today and nothing seemed amiss. The format changes took place last week and have been a long time coming. Can't say that I really like all of the changes but maybe I just need to learn my way around again.
