Horrible Morning...My Tassie's gone.

I lost my heart dog today.She apparently had a heart attack.Couldn't walk and her heart was pounding so hard it shook her whole body.Called the vet in and he took us right away.But she died on my lap in his parking lot waiting for him.This is the hardest day of my life I think.While I love my other dogs very much...Tass was MY dog and I was her person.We just clicked.She was crippled from birth but would have fought to the death for me.I am a wreck...poor Larry.

She lived 14 yrs though even as crippled up as she was.

R.I.P Baby Girl! I miss you so much already....

Thank you Valerie. I am slowly making adjustments and I do feel more confident than I did at first. Ted encouraged me to be an independent woman, and I like to think he'd be proud of me today. Let me tell you, all his lessons in car and home maintenance, construction, finances and even snow plowing are going to come in handy now. I'm certainly not all strength and cheerfulness but I think I'm doing fairly well under the circumstances. I just had a weekend visit with my sister - bless her heart, she listened to me talk all I wanted and talk I did, mostly about Ted. We even cried together - more than a few times. Joanie--Where do you live? There is a craniofacial pain center at Tufts dentistry school in Boston that is terrific for TMJ. Unfortunately TMK falls between the cracks " of medicine, physical therapy, dentistry, etc. And as someone said above, it has many different causes. Some of the things that a place like Tufts might suggest: - A night guard, but one specifically for TMJ. They're different from the ones made for grinding, although they help with that too. The TMJ guards have a protuberance on top that holds your lower jaw in a certain position. - Manipulative physical therapy. These are the folks who actually lay hands on you. For TMJ, the physical therapist snaps on some latex gloves and actually massages pressure points inside your mouth. There are several jaw muscles that are hard to manipulate and cannot be relaxed through stretching etc. This can be a huge help. (If you can't find one of these professionals locally, at least buy a book about trigger points.) - Posture work. Someone can show you on a demonstration skeleton how a problem with back posture, shoulders, hips, knees or even feet can cause you to hold the jaw in a bad position. For example, tilt your hips, and y our shoulders have to tilt in the opposite direction. Then your neck tilts sideways to compensate. It's the way we're built. Computer work is a particularly bad offender when it comes to posture. - Relaxation techniques. As someone said above, stress isn't a particularly good word here. You can be happy as a clam and get terrible neck or TMJ pain from working at a computer without good eyeglasses. There is lots that can be done.

mounshadou, first let me say I am sorry for your current situation with your family. I too have had family members speak untruths about me which broke my heart. Words of advice? Don't get caught up in the drama. As much as you can turn the other cheek and keep going on with your life as you would. I know it's extremely hard when it happens over and over again. Call your mother when you want to. And offer to sit down and talk with your son or DIL to straighten everything out. If they refuse at least you know you've done all you could to work it out. Eventually your family will realize the truth - mine did.

A good role model does not refuse to allow a child to have a picture of their parent. PERIOD. Both of you apparently have forbidden at least one child to have a picture. He threw away the first one. You took away the second one. You said how UGLY she is in it. Your DH refused to allow your ex's picture. Neither of you seem to realize how damaging that can be... and it's not damaging to the child's relationship to the OTHER parent, it's going to damage YOUR relationship with the child. They will blame YOU for not allowing them to have a picture of their parent. My son was the product of an assault... not a loving relationship or even a casual one night stand. But, if MY son had asked to put up a picture of his father, as much as it would have turned me inside out... I would have done that FOR MY SON. Just the manner that you refer to them in your posts tells me that even if you think you are being discreet by not saying things directly to the child and that you are disguising why you are angry, that the child still feels the anger you express. You cannot hide anger. Do you really think it matters to the child, WHY you are angry? They live in a place with angry parents. That's not healthy. (and trust me, I deal with frustration & anger on a daily basis.. my SD lies, manipulates, and does whatever she can to split up my marriage & make my life miserable. I KNOW how horrible it is to live with anger... that's why I'm in therapy.) But, my frustration/anger is because of things SD has done to me.. not what her mother does or how her mother is. I'm in therapy & learning to disengage so MY anger does not impact HER life. And, since I've been in therapy, my anger level has dropped a great deal. Living with rage & anger within you also cripples your ability to be a good role model. As for your kids being jealous or feeling slighted because one of the other children gets more... well, aren't you going to teach your children that life just isn't fair all the time. Some kids get great parents. Some kids get crappy parents. Some kids don't have ANY parents. Life is not fair. It doesn't need to be evened out by sneaking & lying to your spouse. That teaches them that it's okay to be deceitful if it gets you what you WANT. My oldest son grew up getting two of everything. Two birthday parties every year, two Christmas', two Easter baskets... etc. My younger kids didn't grow up in two homes. And unfortunately for them, I spent a great deal of time, money & energy in court over stupid things as well as important things for their older brother. My younger kids weren't always happy & they'd say it's not fair that older brother has so much more, gets so much more attention, etc. Life is NOT fair. It's an important lesson to teach/learn. And I'm glad you're kids have good grades. My SD12 is failing in school. That's the path she has chosen. We do not party. We are home every night. We work hard & try to do the right thing. We have never fought in our house. But, there she is... failing. I'm sure there are kids from horrible homes that excel in school & kids that live in the lap of luxury that don't do well, drop out or fail. It's good if you set good standards & encourage them to do well in school & are pleased with the results. But, having a child with good grades does not make one a good role model. Allowing your children to see you berated is teaching your children something... only your children will know what message they are getting from it. My DH grew up in a home, where I believe he witnessed his mom berated by his dad & one day he stepped into that pattern & thought he would treat me that way. Thank goodness MY parents taught me that nobody has the right to treat me that way & the first time DH tried it with me, I didn't hesitate to tell him that's not acceptable. PERIOD. I'm not trying to attack you at all & I understand your frustration... but, if you refuse to acknowledge the problem and YOUR role in the problem, how can you find a solution? Unless you just want someone to validate your feelings & say that it's okay to act out like this and deal with your family this way... I don't think that's going to happen. It's unhealthy for you and it's damaging to your children. And we are saying this, not to insult or hurt you, but out of caring & concern. If you continue to hold onto the anger, you will destroy what's left of your marriage & your family will be broken up... and you will still live with the anger because as Myfampg said, it only hurts you. Your reaction to it is hurting your children.

Thank you everyone! Today has been a tough day.I have the headache from He$$.Tassie's story....
I got Tassie as a 5 week old adorable puppy.There were 9 pups in her litter and i wondered why no one wanted the runt(Tassie)I ALWAYS take the runt of the litter if I can.Anyway after I got her home,my Aunt noticed that her legs weren't right,I never noticed.So I took her to the vet and found out she didn't have the one bone in her elbow but she could walk.I called the guy I bought her from,he said he'd trade me another pup but no money back.I talked to the vet,he told me that if I returned her to the Mennonites they would destroy her.Don't make them money,you don't stay.So I kept her.Turned out to be the best decision I made,she was a happy,little(5 lbs) JR/rat terrier.And she loved me unconditionally as I did her.At 1 yr old she was chasing a Dalmation (LOL!) out of our yard,hit a hole and snapped her leg.I heard it snap.Wore a cast as big as her for 10 weeks and I carried her 24/7 for 10 weeks.so we got extremely close.The vet said her joints were very weak that's why her bone snapped.She was my protector(well she thought so) and I was hers.She has been at my side or extremely close by for 14 yrs now.I was her person above anyone else.She loved Larry but not the same. I will miss her so much,she slept every night in the crook of my knees.We almost lost her 6 yrs ago from an infection and they said then that her heart was bad and she'd live at the most for 3 yrs.She made it for 6...relatively healthy,or as healthy as Tass would ever be.She had a happy life though,she was always a spirited tiny thing.My life will be a lot emptier without her by my side.So that's my Tassies story.The little crippled dog I loved with all my heart.My Aunt always told me that God knew I'd love her no matter what and that's why he didn't let me notice her bad legs til I got her home and already loved her.I believe that to this day!

CR, I am so sorry for your loss. I know Tassie has left a big hole in your heart - but truly, that is the piece of you she takes with her to the Bridge - to keep you close until you meet again.

I think the weak and disabled animals are the ones that find their way into our hearts the fastest. Tassie was so lucky to have you.

CR...I'm so very very sorry for your loss of Tassie...My heart just hurts for you cause I know just how you feel...We're still crying over Duncan around here...I'm still crying over my Allie and that was in 2000...I hope soon your sadness will be washed away with the wonderful memories you two had together...
