Nervous Breakdown-warning!!! may be offensive

I'm okay now but it was touch and go for a while. The last six weeks have been rough. MIL was in the hospital for a week and was not doing very well. Roof needed to be replaced, had sprung a leak that resulted in some drywall repair for DD's bedroom, which meant her room was a disaster area, also drywall work in bathroom, also a disaster area. DD moved back to campus-after several weeks of having boxes in my dining room and in the hallway, waiting to go away to college. Sister had surgery. I had to go to the ER last sunday-I couldn't pee-this is the offensive part-nope I could not pee, after 10 hours of not peeing but really needing to it was very painful-I went to the emergency room and they hooked me up with a catheter (sp?) and life was good again, have been to the urologist for tests and what not-no visible problem-must be nerves. Took DD to ER 3 days later-she has a kidney stone-doc thinks she can pass the stone on her own so here we go.

Life is starting to get back to normal

I can pee fine--check

New roof--check

Drywall work done-check

Bathroom painted--check

DD back to school--check

Boxes all gone--check

MIL doing great--check

Sister on the mend--check

One question, can nerves really keep you from peeing?

I am not a high strung person-all of this chaos was not bothering me-or I didn't think it was. Chaos is my middle name-not really, Carol is my middle name.

Anyway life is starting to calm down again.

I am extremely worried about DD and the kidney stone,(she is 100 miles from home) but her room mate is also her best friend and neighbor and she can call me or take her to the ER there if necessary-much bigger town and much better hospital.

Need to paint her bedroom also and then life will be worry free until the next round.

Thanks for listening-I just needed a little therapy.

whew, you made it through and that's what matters. Your sense of humor--check. Gotta have that. Sometimes when it rains, it POURS. Glad your back in the saddle, at walking speed.

I forgot to mention the best part-the catheter was to be worn strapped to my leg for a week-can you believe that, and then the doc gave me medicine to relax something to do with my bladder-it lowered my blood pressure to the point that all I could do was sleep. I work a full time job, so here I was wearing the cath to work every day (embarassing-I work with all men) and then about 11 everyday I would go home and sleep for a couple of hours and then come back to work. I'm the only one that works in the office-no one else can do my job, so I really didn't have a choice about working.
It's over now and so is the pity party

Jim, you made such an excellent choice! I love your roses because they all are known to have amazing fragrance to them! I try so hard to get roses with fragrance, but not always do I luck out... Zyperiris, I would definitely get Gemini from Jackson & Perkins...You will have better luck with them having fragrance at J & P because not all Gemini have fragrance...I love the scent of mine (smells like honey and and peaches)...Advantages of Gemini are that they flourish and look beautiful even in 95-97 degree heat; they are rated exhibition form roses by the ARS and are highly resistant to diseases and are very vigorous! Fragrant Cloud makes...delicious rose petal jelly--haha! man, when I eat that stuff I feel like I'm eating plums, super-saturated kick-pow jam, it's got flavor intensity to the max. It's got a very strong nice perfume, but my favorite perfume will always be Mr. Lincoln. Disadvantage of Fragrant Cloud is that it is very, very difficult to color match whereas Gemini looks beautiful anywhere you plant it! Special Occasion is a very beautiful rose but!!!!!it's got a split personality. It has a classical very lovely shape from young to maturity blooms, but once it's past mature it becomes an antique Souvenir bloom (google search Souvenir de la Maison) and you'll know what I mean. If you don't like the curliness and petticoat shape of this type of antique rose, you may not like Special Occasion... You see Special Occasion is a long-lived blossom, it takes forever! for it to fade and thus it has a split personality-- a breathtaking classical hybrid tea, but once its past its mature bloom stage, it becomes a cute petite OGR. It is now currently sold by Vintage Gardens. Mine was supposed to be exceptionally fragrant, but in my opinion it is only medium in fragrance so far...Also with Special Occasion it is OUCH!if you pick it up by the blossom neck-it's like a bristle brush of very tiny miniscule thorns...

Um, now who's being the noisy neighbor? She's scaring your children by slamming things downstairs. Did you mention that? I'm w/ moonshadow, don't worry about her plates anymore. Now do not EVER bring up your kids, and the floors, and the noise, with her again. I live in an apt. bldg w/ thinnish floors (thick walls, thinnish floors). I hear my downstair's neighbors music from time to time--not loud, but I can tell it's there. I can hear the floor creak when my neighbor walks. if she puts together furniture, it's loud. But it doesn't impinge on my life, BECAUSE I IGNORE IT. it doesn't even register--you could ask me 1/2 hour later if I heard the music, and I'll tell you no. I heard it; I just didn't remember it. But-- I can't ignore it if someone talks about it. I hate when my dad comes to visit, bcs he's always commenting, "Oh, someone's using the elevator" (it opens into the apt., so you hear it faintly when it goes past). "Oh, your neighbor's walking around." So then when he TALKS about it, I notice the noise suddenly. And remember it. I get really crabb with him. I've even said to him, "You are not to mention that noise--you must not talk about it. My neighbors and I live in peace by agreeing not to notice, and I can't do that with you commenting all the time!" And on the same lines, what you've done is train yourself and your neighbor to only talk about noise--which means you both notice it. So stop. Never talk about noise w/ her again. if she brings it up, change the subject as fast as you can. Talk about the weather. Or flat-out say, "I find that it's easier to cope with the noise of the people who live around me if I just don't dwell on it. So I hate to talk about it. See you!" Right now your relationship w/ her is ONLY about noise. It needs to be less about that and more about the weather and which grocery stores has the best prices on chicken. You're a considerate person; your kids will never jump repeatedly over her head for hours on end. So if they jump 3x before you can stop them, she can deal. In a way, this is good, this last incident w/ her. Her scaring your child by slamming so much is YOUR out. At least your noise isn't hostile and frightening, and it doesn't happen for a long period of time. And a biggie here--it wasn't deliberately being created by a grownup. If your kids jump off the sofa while playing pirate, before you catch them, they're not intentionally making noise for the purpose of making noise, and neither are you. But she WAS!! Relax now. Just live. Stop them from running, don't let them jump off the sofa, and don't worry about it.

True story. Many years ago, my father made his own wine which could be VERY potent. I was an alter boy and at one of the masses, the priest was having a fit as somehow they had run out of wine, and this being a Sunday, no stores that sold wine were open. He remembered my father made his wine and called and asked mom if she could bring just enough for the service. Mom warned him NOT to gulp it all down as usual but to sip it. Did he listen? Nope, slugged it all down (and the chalice was at least 1/4 to 1/2 full) and by the end of the mass, he was feeling no pain. He ended up his sermon by leaning on the podium, started off by saying "Now I want to tell you people something" and continued on till he finished up with "O.K. all done now, God Bless you and go home". He stumbled off the alter platform and went to change out of his vestments while I ran back to help him. All the while he kept telling me how warm the room was and wondered why he was so woozy. The Monsignor started to give him what for until mom explained what had happened. Monsignor made sure from that moment on that Mogan David was always on hand. The people talked about that incident for years after.

Dont you think that if they had left the machine alone it would still be fine today, other than the plastic squeak? I know as I said before that the old Calypsos had this type hanging system(and possibly GE) and I have heard the Calypso make the squeak and creak noise. As I told you before I hate to have something new with a "flaw" but I have also felt that sometimes I was too picky and would convince myself I needed to get it checked out only to be sicker(& madder)after service. A car for example, have a small rattle, carry in for service, they take half the car apart to fix it, then when you start home you no longer have that rattle, you have three more to go with it where they took things apart--now that is my luck--and I am thinking"Why on earth didnt I live with one small rattle but it is too late to back up then". Just go forward from here and I think I would try another one like you have. It seems like a great washer and you know that the LG made F/L didnt last you very long so maybe this next one will?. OH and about Sears using Electolux now instead of LG for front-loaders, I have always been told it depends on who bid the cheapest to build them. Not sure if that is true but I have heard that. Maybe you need to start looking for the 57 Lady Kenmore!

Toni, you are so right, I did make it through. Until you said that I didn't realize it, but hey, I did make it through. Now the sun is shining and most everything is okay and right now I am patting myself and looking around and thinking, wow!, I'm still alive and life is good!!

Sending hugs so you will continue to feel better. Remember that God will never give you more that you can stand. On that note, I too sometimes get really stressed out and wonder if God has me mixed up with someone else.

I know a cat isn't a human but our cat isn't terribly friendly to other cats, and when we babysat our "grandkitten" while DD was away, our cat was so stressed by having a strange cat in our house that she wasn't allowed to attack, she stopped peeing for three days and cost us $200 at the vet's for medication and ultimately catheterisation to drain the bladder manually, as it were. I wouldn't be surprised if a person could react similarly given the stress you must have been under whether you were aware of it or not.

Isn't it nice to have all these 'ears' here? You can just talk and talk, and we'll listen and pat you on the back until you feel better!

Pat, pat, pat...There, see? Much better.

(The only time I couldn't pee, a kidney stone attack followed within hours. I'd gotten dehydrated.)

LOL I think God got me mixed up with someone he doesn't likke very much. Just kidding, I know he loves us all the same.

I'm glad things are looking up for you! I'm sorry for all the problems but it sounds like they're pretty much resolved or on the way, so maybe the rest of this month will be a breeze! I'm sure nerves can mess you up a lot, I wonder if maybe having a few valium on hand would be a good idea for the future? They're very mild and would come in handy if things start to pile up again.

Thanks guys, things are getting better and the sun is shining again today.
My DD did call last night about 10:45, woke me up, said there had been a hold up at gun point on campus, not far from the sorority house where she was at, and by not far I mean like 50 yards away. The campus does have security and an escort service to see you to your dorm or where ever. Since DD and others are there early for sorority stuff I'm not sure if security is at full staff right now. She called to let me know that she was fine and all involved are fine, because she knew I would see this on the news this morning and worry. Why let me get a good nights sleep and worry the next day when you can call and wake me up and let me sleep fitfully the rest of the night.
This does worry me, but what can you do? I caution DD to be aware of her surroundings and to not walk anywhere alone after dark and if something like this should happen to her, to give them anything they want because nothing is worth your life.
