Comments (55)auntjen, DH (and therefore I) have had to go to a couple of not-particularly-liked co-workers' weddings purely for office politics. He didn't give crap one about the co-workers (and I wouldn't have known them had they stopped me on the street and kicked me in the shins) but had he not shown up things would not have gone very well for him in the office. Some workplaces are just lousy like that, if you don't participate in the "office culture" you're sunk at review time. There were other "unwritten-but-really-required" activities like the bar-hops and expensive restaurant lunches (of course not paid for by the employer) for stuff like birthdays and departures that contributed to his leaving that job. Things like that added up very fast, and DH was the lowest-paid person in the office by a BIG margin - like there were several people in that office making 10x what DH did. At the time I had ONE nice dress, and it was the standard all-occasion, all-season "little black dress" with princess seams and elbow-length sleeves. I wore brightly-colored accessories - shoes, purse, and chunky vintage jewelry from Goodwill ;-) - and didn't get any guff from anyone....See MoreO-k-a-y!!!! Told them I will do it!
Comments (21)Work it girl. Think the dance "All you Single Ladies". Show 'em your stuff. I know you got stuff Girl. Show 'em what Water Aerobics can do for the "Bode". Ah-Uh! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. (I'd add a snapped finger to this but I've got arthritis in my thumb.)...See MoreDo you wear white pants???
Comments (27)Mine are a LEE brand I usually do petite's but got the medium in these, being a bit longer they cover my one veiny leg better. They are stretch and have some thing in the pockets that is supposed to instanly slim me. I did not notice it and I did look at my behind from behind:) It is what it is:) I do not wear long tops they make me look too dumpy or should I say dumpier~~on What Not to Wear they tell not to wear them too long so I don't anymore and I think they may be right. I am going to go check out the Spanx stuff at Nordie's I have always wanted some....See MoreWhat to wear for a winter wedding in Colorado?
Comments (4)I don't see why a pants outfit wouldn't be just fine. They're okay for even very dressy events (if the outfit is very dressy). She says it's quite informal (polos, not a lot of ties), so a dress or cute skirt and sweater with tights would be fine, too. (I hate to wear regular pantyhose, so I can't really opine on that.) It doesn't sound like you are leaning toward either anything too dressy (cocktail dress or gown) or too casual (jeans or khakis) -- everything you are considering would work. Either pants, a dress, or a skirt -- all equally appropriate. So choose the outfit you enjoy wearing the most, and you'll be fine. And if it makes you very anxious to think you might not be right in the middle of the range, remember that a LBD (or the pants equivalent, nice black pants and a solid color sweater or silk top) always works -- you can even bring different shoes and accessories for it (tights/flats or boots/chunky jewelry/scarf and heels/hose/evening clutch/sparkly jewelry) and decide which to use once you are there and talk to other relatives. Have fun!...See Moregrammahony
