Oh, poor Smudge! Has he had any shots? Maybe it is just an allergy, but I would try to get him to the vet, just in case. You don't want your other two to maybe come down with it. Bless his heart. If you have some echinacea, open up a capsule and sprinkle it on his food, that may boost his immune system. I have done that before with the outside cats here and it has always helped them. Let us know how he is doing.

Seem normal otherwise? Eating, sleeping, play/activities, litterbox use all seem the same? Any sign of congestion? You can put your ear to him and see if you hear any laboring in breathing. Could be he just got into something dusty (no, don't be offended, not suggesting you might have dust or anything!) or something that irritated the nose. Even cats get the sniffles occasionally. Enough sneezing would cause the runny eye. My one cat digs around in the basement and constantly has sany buildup from his eyes. I just wipe it away and notice some tearing (as in tears, the wet ones, rather than tears as in rips). I sometimes think he comes to me to just wipe his face.

Anything happen in your area (weatherwise, mowing, etc) that could have kicked up some pollen or allergens? I'd just watch him close and see if anything else develops. Keep us posted.

Oh, he'd probably enjoy some extra attention and some special treats too...

If he has stopped eating, you probably need to take him to the vet. Cats need to eat.

Any chance of isolating him from the others?

My cat sneezes a lot too. He had a squinting eye until I put him on L-lysine everyday and no more eye problems. If he's eating well, drinking and playing it could be allergies.

I just got back from the vet. Here's what I did. Smudge's eyes were not running anymore yesterday, and his sneezing is better.

But Bud started sneezing yesterday. So I did make the appt for today for Bud. Figured they'd check him out while he still has it in his system. And I didn't want it to get to Roxie next.

Took his temp, and checked his heart, and his lymph glands. They are swollen. She said he has a cold (upper respiratory tract infecton) so Lydia, you were bang on.
She gave me some liquid to give him twice a day. I mentioned Smudge, and I have enough to give to them both...Smudge a smidgeon (cute huh) less amount than Bud's.

I've never had them sneeze before ever, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't serious, and end up by losing all my babies. She said that with the hot humid weather, we could be bringing stuff into our home, since they are all indoor cats.

Did she ever cuddle Bud! Said how gorgeous and soft he is. She really sucked him up. His attitude is so good....just purred, didn't make a noise with the exam. A real sweetie.

Even though it wasn't serious, and I'm lighter in the wallet, I still feel like I did the right thing. Maybe next time, I'll just let nature take it's course.
