Never have done that. Only time I have my husband look under there is if my little dog acts like her toy is under there. The house-cleaner does I assume when she is vacuuming.
I would never be able to get down there or back up lol.

Never. I did when I was a teenager though.

I'm more inclined to look under there in the morning ... to choose which pair of shoes to 'wear today.

What? Never did that, even as a child! The only time I even think about it is when I'm running the central vac under the bed. (Just did that this morning!) We have hardwood flooring -- easy to keep up.

Raven -- I have been *amazed* by what a cleaner will *never* clean. I remember moving a skirted chair and finding a year's worth of dust underneath.

I don't know that I look, but wouldn't have to bend to do it. I have a tall shaker pine 4-poster, no skirt. It wouldn't be a good place to hide, or to hide anything either....I can see clear to the wall beneath the headboard walking into the room.

My Oreck lays down far enough (as parallel to the floor) I can vacuum the entire area under, half from one side, half from the other.

I can remember having to check or have someone check for me for a few weeks as a child though. I couldn't even stand at the sink and wash dishes without looking over my shoulder....I'd watched a movie sleeping over at a girlfriends house that my mother never would have allowed and it scared the crap out of me. Half Human, Story of the Abominable Snowman. Can you believe I still remember the name of that movie.

But... I sure as heck covered my head with the covers when I scared for whatever reason. Dunno how those thin covers would've helped had it been true trouble? Maybe it drowns out the scary noises.

My Neato Robotic vaccum takes care of under the bed for me.

if and when I looked under my bed it was for a shoe or something like that. Now that I am older I would have to call 911 for assistance to get back up. If I drop something and it rolls under the bed I either have to find something like a dust mop to retrieve it or lay on my bed and peer down hoping I do not fall off the bed. Comedy of errors. I have never looked for monsters down there if they are brave enough to fight the dust bunnies more power to them. lol

I've never once done that, not even when I was a kid.

Maybe once every few months. Only because the wooden slats that hold up the bed sometimes shift, and fall out, and every so often you have to put the ones that have fallen out back in so the whole bed doesn't fall through.

Only to vacuum or look for a missing dog or cat toy, or a live bird like the other day! I can still get up and down OK but the hardwood floors don't feel so great on my knees so I get down with caution.

I can't get down there, & if I ever did manage it, I'd not only be stuck, but I'd probably sneeze myself into a pretzel!

I was just on my knees looking under there this morning for the kitty treat (Temptations Tumblers) I threw....and the kitty couldn't find. Not sure where it went...bounced...?

I look under the bed to either put my bags of kitty litter, or to retrieve one when I need it. I try to leave a path for Smudge to take shelter under the bed when he needs to; like when the vacuum cleaner gets hauled out.

I don't look under mine either... ;) It has a box under it, kind of like a base for a waterbed. No room for ANYTHING under there.

When the kids were little, I used to spray under the beds for them with "Monster Spray." Hit all the corners too. (OK maybe it was room spray.)

I never look under the bed. Even when I'm vacuuming I just push the vacuum underneath and hope that I don't suck up the plastic bag that my wedding dress is wrapped in. That's where it is stored.

I also hope that the vacuum sucks up all the monsters that are attacking my dust bunnies.

If I looked under my bed and found a monster.it would be the one scared, not me.

Like others, I only look under the bed to find something that's stored there or to vacuum.

The DUST BUNNIES live under my bed....and the monsters are really, really 'a-scaired' of those damned bunnies. I've never seen even one monster under there LOL

Naw. Any monster small enough to fit under MY bed would not be scary at all. I'd step on 'em and smoosh 'em.

The only thing small enough to fit under there is my box of (ahem) personal battery operated items that, in the event of my death, my best friend has SWORN to remove before my grown sons find them. :)

I have never done that. I wouldn't mind having a visit from what ever lurks under beds, it would be company. LOL

Guess I have to join the "call the Fire Dept. Club" as getting down means I need help getting up.I do know that we have 2 thick pads for sleeping on the floor under there, nicely covered to keep the Dust Bunnies company. (Can't spell photons ...nope, futons, aha... finally did it!)

I couldn't help myself, Jas. I cannot imagine 2/3 people check under their bed every night before getting into it.

Love everyone's answers. Makes me feel good about my dust bunnies. I store the leaves for my dining room table under bed in Master bedroom and a box of ribbons under one of the guest bedrooms bed.

If I stuck my nose under the bed I'd probably have a sneezing fit.

But before I learned to love spiders I used to check the curtains over my bed. Now I just figure they're hanging out somewhere in the room, and that's okay.

I only check under the bed for dust bunnies of if i can not find something.

No monsters under my bed. My ferocious Pomeranian would scare therm off. I do look under there on occasion. Seems to gather quite a collection of food wrappers and empty yogurt containers. I didn't put them there.

Here's an under-the-bed-related saying I remember from childhood. It was surely intended to baffle a child: "He can put his shoes under my bed any time." (Hot stuff from an aging auntie!)

My bed is on a waterbed frame that has drawers underneath and one at the foot of the bed that my hubby built, so no room there for any monsters.

Never look under the bed not even at the stuff I have stored under it which I can't recall hmm I think maybe my cross stitching supplies. haha I guess I should look.

For years now I have been trying to recall a little ditty my Dad used to sing to me about a man under a single woman's bed. It was a cute little song and I wish I could remember it. He used to sing it to his sister when they were kids so it must be quite an old little song.

Before there were drawers under the bed I can't ever recall looking under the bed before I slept . Didn't want to know or my knees wouldn't like it or because the old guy was already sawing logs, I never looked.

I am not scared of spiders but I do not like them and I try to keep my bedding from hanging on the floor. If I had a regular bed I would have the legs setting in plastic cups to keep spiders from crawling up on my bed. We had a friend that ended up in an iron lung but he recovered from his bite.

Most people get spider bites in bed, I was bitten on the back of my knee. It was a brown recluse and I was very lucky. I had a spot the size of a silver dollar that looked like leather with a tiny abscess in the middle of it.

I too, EmmaR have had that horrible spider bite. Put me in the hospital and many weeks of closing the wound...very small scar left however. In 10 years, I have only seen perhaps one spider a year in our bathroom, never anywhere else. Even the patio has very few, thank goodness. And, yes, I over-react when one is in our motorhome.
