I was caught up in paparazzi tonight!

DH's nephew and his wife had their baby last night at Cedar Sanai and we went to visit tonight. As we were leaving the parking structure and entering the street a bunch of guys with camera's were running right past us. It scared me at first because I didn't know what the heck was happening, then DH says it's the paparazzi.....and it was. Not sure who they were chasing down though....I haven't heard of anyone being hospitalized that they would want pictures of lately. I can see where they could cause accidents and traffic jams....just not safe for them or the public. They just ran right in front of my car and if I had not been paying attention I could have hit a few. They were like cock roaches scattering! There must have been 15 of them scurring around. I don't think I'd like their job.....it's crazy! No picture is worth risking my life for.....

As you know, Cedar Siani is where all the celebs go. Last year when my cousin was hospitalized there for 5 weeks, Harrison Ford was there every day to visit him. The nurses were used to seeing celebs so it was no big deal to them.
Wouldn't you just hate to be chased all the time by the paparazzi?

Would you believe that the latest fad is to hire a group of Paparzzi? People are renting Limos and arriving at trendy Restaurants and hire Paparzzi to swarm them and take pictures.

Just to "appear" to be somebody famous. Go figure!?!

Karen: I think northern Ohio got way more rain the we did in the southern part of the state last year. I got no measurable rain all last summer. I think our rain deficit was 14" by fall. I guess we're the lucky ones this year. Seems every 2 weeks or so, just when things start drying out, we get a good rain. Like I said, it's been great and I'm grateful Carrie: I really feel for you. As you know I had that excessive heat and drought last summer. It was only 3 or 4 months and it was dreadful. I know that you've had it so much longer. I hope you get some relief soon. Karen

Thanks all. I'm resurfacing after several days of barely making it off the couch. This has been an awful illness. Started out with a 103.5 fever and headache to beat the band, along with a cough. When I couldn't hold down any meds to bring the fever down or any fluids my neighbor brought me to the ER. They actually thought I might have Legionaire's, since there is a mini "outbreak" going on in CT. They also tested me for meningitis with a spinal tap. Both tests were negative, but they dx'd pneumonia. I then spent several days with a blinding, completely debilitating headache (although the fever went away). Turns out spinal fluid was leaking due to the spinal tap and they had to do a "patch." Not fun. I'm now on my third antibiotic because the first one made me sick to my stomach and the second one has caused a severe allergic reaction resulting in swollen hands, feet, and legs, and splotchy itchy skin everywhere. Four days later I'm still taking benedryl every 6 hours because as soon as it wears off the reaction comes back. So all I want to do is sleep, but I can't really totally sleep because all I do is lay around. I swear the treatments have been worse than the illness! OK, enough whining. Between my cat Lily and my Pug, I have never wanted for company on the couch. When they are in the house the two of them join anyone who sits on the couch instantly, negotiating for the best position. Matter of fact it was feeling pretty crowded there when I had the high fever and was achy and uncomfortable in my own skin! The plants have totally taken a back seat. As I type this I can see a couple of them out the window and they look fine. That will have to do for now! Thanks for the kind words and support. My goals for now are to do a load of laundry so that DS has uniforms clean for school on Monday, to do the dishes, and to go through the mail. Oh, and to try to be something of a parent, rather than a person who barks out orders from the couch ("Please feed the dog! Do your homework! Please empty the dishwasher! Please don't complain or nag, my head hurts too much!"). With Halloween around the corner (supremely important holiday for 11 y.o. DS) I hope I am able to pull it together soon!

Most important thing is you are ok. Damage to vehicles can be fixed. Was the deer injured? I hope it wasn't or that you called animal services or the highway patrol to report it. Poor deer. I got hit in the rear quarter panel of my less than 3 month old truck years ago. In town. Deer just kept on going. DS got hit by a deer on his motorcycle that same month. It was his first ever trip to the ER for crashing. Just road rash that time thank goodness. A few years back he a deer in the mountain on his motorcycle. Somehow he hit it broadside and was going so fast he cut it right in half. Kept the bike up. When he walked in the door he was quite pale. I asked what happened and he replied he'd hit a deer. I asked if he went down and was injured and he said no but the deer died. I asked him how he was sure it died and he said front half of deer went to one side of the road and the back half on the other. He call them "rats on stilts" but has a soft spot for all living creatures so it was pretty traumatic for him.

Narcissus gone wild. I do not think this makes the world a better place. The Paprazzi only make 100 times worse by the lies and untruths they tell. In my eyes the paprazzi are the scum of the earth with camera's. A picture may be worth a thousand words but it can also be worth about as many questions. When the drive by media reports yellow journalism, partial truth or outright lies, we're dumbing down people who need better things to think about.

Vicki,Did you see in the paper that Huell Howser will be in Old Town Temecula ,filming for his show on PBS??There was a write up about it in The North cnty times today.I think it said it will be shown in October.

No I didn't but I love to watch him. I think he lives in Palm Springs. He is a hoot....I'd love to have his job too! I love Old Town Temecula too, such a neat place to walk around. We will be out that way tomorrow for a family reunion. Actually in Menifee...my sister and her family live out that way.

My son was caught up by the paparazzi when he attended the first MTV awards in NYC with his biological father. They drove up to the Red Carpet in their limo, go out, and cameras flashing. lol, they then realized my son was no celebrity, and then left him alone :o)

My sister and I used to get free tickets to the movie premiers in Westwood and Hollywood years ago. There was always the red carpet stuff going on, but we were never close enough to see it all except for one time we were right next to the curb when a limo let out Anna Nicole and the flashes started going off. My sister and I had no clue who she was at the time, so we thought nothing of it. About a year later I found out who she was. She was pretty overweight then and I had no clue she was a model.
