Please share favorite family photos you've taken yourselves.

I took this one a little over a month ago at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. I was self appointed as the photographer that day and couldn't resist taking this photo of my dear hubby and our grandson walking ahead of me even though there were peole walking toward them. Luckily I was able to photoshop them out.

This next one is of them on the orangutan statue.

Great idea!

With 5 kids (4 of them in there 20's) they're getting scattered far and wide these days. Last summer all of them and one spouse were able to go with me for a week long backpacking trip to the Bighorns of Wyoming. What a great photo op.

Sherri-- The trick is that I got him hooked on roses. I just buy him a rose from time-to-time and I think that keeps him willing to help me. We counted his roses and he now has 19. I also use pot roast, homemade chili, and blackened chicken alfredo as persuasive devices. Then again, I would also recommend steak marinated in garlic, a touch of worcheshire sauce and brown sugar.... next to a sweet potato with honey butter and cinnamon. THIS I use in times of desperation. lol Buford--I cannot wait for the hill to burst into bloom. This is year 3....the long awaited year of maturity. I'd say a quarter of the roses up there are at or above 3 yrs old. They are really filling in and finally getting to that picture I have in my mind. The small side yard was a slope breaking away from the house. Horrible to mow and really bad on my bad knee. I elevated the side yard with cinderblocks and then veneered those. Then, against the house I addded a bed with a rock veneer wall. Now I can grow roses, perennials and even tomatoes in an area that was once only suitable for a billy goat. I finally feel like the 'bones' of the yard are done. There will always be things to play with...but I hope the hard labor is done. I am sure Tommy does too. lol Ronda

Blondie, what a great thread, I love your clematis photo with the dew drops. Beautiful! Thyme2dig, I especially love your rosw arbor picture, and your rose. snazzycat - very nice compostion of hot colors. I'll bet the butterflies love it! aimekitty, I love your rose! How big are they? The picture of your husband cutting grass in a tie is a classic! oakleyok - your rose is beautiful and that is a great picture of it. What is the name of that one? Alisande - I can see why you have work in an exhibit. Your photos are really beautiful. I love the foxgloves, and that it migrated to the woods. The sunflower in the tree is a whimsical beauty. honnat, your photos are luscious - such green. I love the lily photo. Bungalow, I envy your peony and it is a lovely photo of it. Hello, It is really neat to read about everyone. I am feeling really young. I am 31, married and have 3 girls and 1 more on the way. I live in the country near Clay Center Kansas. I am an elementary teacher. This year I moved schools and moved up to Middle School Math. I grew up on a farm raising livestock (Cattle and Hogs) and crops. There was not enough $$$ on the farm to support more families, so I went my own direction. Now I am starting my own "farm" as my wife says. I have around an 1 acre garden. I grow alot of our produce for sale at 3 small farmers markets I attend. I started to make jellies to add to the produce that I sell. It also helps me use stuff that I don't sell or isn't perfect. I work very hard at what I do and enjoy every minute of it. I don't have a tractor, (I wish I did) and I am expanding every year. Everything is done by hand, usually mine. I get the kids involved as much as possible. They are great at somethings, but not everything. Next year I am putting up two hoopbuildings,(12 by 45ft each) to grow tomatoes and cucumbers in. I want to capture the most $ for my labor. I have time in June and July, but once August roles around, it is back to school and I don't have that much time to spend in the garden. I am not into gardening for the $$, I am into it for good produce and flavor. I also love to grow things that people have never seen before. Black tomatoes, Lemon Cucumbers, Chocolate Bell peppers, Strange Squash, etc, etc, etc. I usually don't sell lots of these things, but they do keep bringing people back. We have a small flock of chickens, started out as a 2nd grade chicken egg hatching project. Those chickens were some tough 'ol birds. We use alot of eggs and sell the rest at my market stand. Future plans? To continue the garden and probably expand by another 1/4 acre. Maybe try using floating row covers for squash. I enjoy gardening more and more. I wish I could do it full time year around. Kansas weather doesn't allow that to happen! I want to expand my pepper jellies and sell online and to local shops and I wish I could win the lotto so I could do it all. It just isn't possible or is it? I will still come back here and read about everyone and find new recipes to try. Thanks for the support and Keep up the good work! Jay

Hello Larry, I loved seeing the photo of you with all of our cards -- your iris will be a special garden friend I'll look for every spring in my front yard. I'm especially excited that it came from Massachusetts, since I just moved to Texas from Worcester, MA last year -- your iris and I are both transplanted New Englanders! I like this one I took at my daughters graduation a few years ago. She was walking to her seat in the auditorium. Not sure how I did it.. but I like it! I call it "Life Flies By".

Lydia, I love that "happy accident" and what an appropriate name....Life does fly by!

I'm loving all these pictures. Here's a picture of my oldest son at his college graduation last May...Whoo-Hoooo! One down, one to go.

This is me, my DH and both sons Max, 22 then, and Mark, 20) at Thanksgiving last year. We always go up to the family farm in Oklahoma for Thanksgiving and have a blast. For once I made sure to get a family picture and used it for our Christmas card.

When we're all together, my DH always lines the kids up stairstep and takes a picture. These are all of my MIL's grandkids and even a great-grand baby. It's one of my favorite pictures. Someday I need to learn how to make a collage of all the stairstep pictures. It used to not be very many "steps"! LOL

Oh I'm glad I started this too! I love seeing family photos that were taken by a family member.
Ronf, the reflection in the sunglasses is such a neat idea! I've done reflections in mirrors, but never thought of this one. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
Phylis, it's looks as though Clayton isn't sure what to do with his little brother. Too cute. How old are they now? Are they too the point they can play with each other yet, or is this a new photo?
Lydia, what a great capture no matter how you did it? That's what you call a happy accident!
ClairDo, what a nice memory of your DHs b-day. Which one is he and you?
Glenda, neat trick. I want one of those boxes.
Jen, great family photos. Love the one with you, hubby and your boys. Our daughter's going to home the end of this month. I have to make sure to get a photo with all of us in it. I usually take one of hubby and the kids and get left out since I'm behind the camera. The stair step is great idea too. Love it.

Gosh we have some awesome captures here! Thanks so much for everyone that's joining in the fun!
Here's another one of mine that I captured while hubby was umpiring a few years back. I had a new camera and was working to catch some action shots. This is the favorite of them all since the runners feet were both off the ground.
