I've been to Oahu, but only very briefly. I haven't visited any of the gardens. I would really like to do that some day. They seem to have gardens everywhere there, including: Lyon Arboretum Waimea Arboretum and Botanical Garden Foster Botanical Garden Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden Koko Crater Botanical Garden Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden Wahiawa Botanical Garden (different than the second one) All the pictures in my posts were from gardens (Limahuli, McBryde, and Moir) on Kauai.

One thing to note is that pork/pigs have been bred for lean meat in the last few decades in the US, but NOT necessarily in EU/Germany. So the wonderfully tender pork you may experience in the EU is not the same and cannot be replicated into recipes in the US. Just an FYI, in case one thinks the EU has stellar pork cooking techniques (which they may), but not as much as you might think. Think of prime US beef ribeye (fatty) vs. choice NY strip (fairly lean) and you'll get the idea.

Stacy, you have at least 3 years to save for it, lol.

Glenda, yep, bought a Canon just before we left. The weather was extremely hot and humid the first 2 weeks, except for when we were on the coast of France, then it was cold and rainy. Rainy and hot/muggy in Paris.

Lydia, we drove up to the parking lot and didn't walk a really long way up to the ruin. There is a trail going down the other side, though, that goes all the way down to the town below. I've been down there before...20+ years ago and didn't want to have to walk back up so we only went a little ways down that path.

Oh, it's just breathtaking, Kath! All the cool rock work and architecture, the scenery, WOW! I could stand up there for hours, easy, but then, there must have beautiful spots like that everywhere, it's such a pretty place.

Gosh. What a wonderful trip you gave yourself!

Kath, the pictures are outstanding! They are better than most I have seen in magazines. Knowing you were there to appreciate the beauty and charm, (not like some paid photographer) gives them extra meaning.
