I'm feeling really sad

A friend of mine and her hubby went to the shore this week to spend some time with his daughter who is here visiting from some place in Europe (her home) and the GK's. When I arrived at golf today I was hit with the bad news that he was on the floor playing with the kids and he just keeled over. He's in intensive care right now, life support has been removed and it's just a waiting game. It's just such a complete shock!

The same thing happened to my son last year. It was very quick. I am so sorry to hear this.

Thank you everyone - AGAIN. What an emotional roller coaster. I let my emotions run rampant (life long challenge). I've thought about things and feel I was being a little harsh. Some days my life skills take a nose dive. I'm not a working Mom raising teenagers so I don't truly appreciate my sisters homelife. She's doing the best she can and making adjustments. I called my Mom today and told her I would like to visit with her tomorrow afternoon, bring her mail, fill out change of address forms on her pensions and such and I will call to set up her home lab work with her tomorrow. I have decided when I visit my Mom I will check in advance to see what things I can do to help. My Mom is also 'working' on my sister to get a maid in since my Mom can get home help. Apparently no one could find my sister last night - she had a full laundry basket and was asleep on her son's bed - out cold. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments - they are a great help to me making this transition. I love my Mom and would like to do what I can. I just got so fed up being a door mat I felt like locking the door and changing my phone to escape. I've started sleeping again, with the doctor's help, which is helping things go back into perspective. I'm going to be rereading this post for the next couple of days and thinking about adjusting to the new routine. I'm still purgine this house and working towards painting...and I am seriously thinking of working for my temp agency again on short term contracts before I lose my mind. I don't know how not to be busy. It's just not me. (((((((((((((((((((to all my KTer friends))))))))))))))))))) You mean so much to me. LOL Peggy

Unless he is beating her or in some other way "abusing" her, they are married and she came here for advice and support and didn't really get much. (although I liked Colleen's message) It does seem as if she may not be communicating her needs to her husband and he is taking her for granted. That doesn't mean he doesn't love or appreciate her. It could mean that he doesn't know how she feels and she should tell him. They haven't been married very long and it's sometimes hard, when you are in the "Honeymoon" phase, to bring up subjects that might not be so pleasant. If it wasn't discussed before they got married, it probably should have, but criticizing that now isn't going to HELP. We all come from different places and I agree with the fact that someone comes here to post a problem, and when someone gives advice or an opinion (on the problem), they get inundated with an attack sometimes, from opposing points of view. Aren't we here to offer support and insight on the poster's "problem" and not bicker that we are right? I've been pulled into defending myself several times and feeling like I have to explain why I feel the way I do. Aren't we all entitled to have different opinions?

Thanks again for sharing all of your comments and opinions. Reading through them has really helped me gel in my own mind and heart what it was that I liked and what was truly bothering me with the kitchen cabinets. I have talked with Guy, who has been more than understanding and willing to help us, so I didn't need to involve Dude. No nefarious or underhanded plans were actually involved and he wants us to be as happy with our kitchen as we do. LOL. We have told him that we want the bottom two drawers in the 3-drawer stack replaced with the five-piece drawer fronts. We are leaving the 4-drawer stacks alone and are not doing anything with the drawer below the oven. IF we find, down the road (after we've finished the basement guest suite and the backsplash), that the two bottom drawers on those stacks continue to bother us we will replace them. The hardware has been installed on about half of the cabinets so far and that helps a lot. I'm sure once the appliances and countertops are installed that will make even a bigger difference. Thanks again for your help. It is greatly appreciated! Oh, and the white legs are still in the kitchen Just In Case the granite guys need to use them to hold up the overhang because the brown legs may not arrive by Friday. But they will be replaced! The granite guy said maybe they'd just use 2x4's instead and I'm tempted to let him do that just so no one thinks I'm settling for the white.

An extremely wet acidic soil at that. I could only manage a couple of bushes by planting in pots where the water butt used to collect from the shed roof. Continual dripping runoff, in ericaceous soil mix (and regular sequestrene) was the only way I could get any at all. Gave up and settled for blackcurrants and jostaberries while newly planted juneberry and saskatoons might have the first yield this summer. The wild plums (P.cerasifera) and almond blossom is already out (as well as the ubiquitous sloe - prunus spinosa)...I would grow any of these even without the additional crop potential (in fact the almond hybrid - an almond x apricot has horrible soft-shelled nuts which I leave on the ground as a mulch)...but the curl can be an issue. For the first time in living memory, I was on time with spraying at bud break and leaf fall at both ends of the year. It's creeping up on us...panic is in the post.

Debby, so sorry to hear about your son. My son called a few days ago and when we got home, the message on the answering machine said Hi Mom, Hi Dad, just called to say I love you. I wanted to reach out and let you know how important you are to me. Turns out, he had a call the night before from a high school buddy who had called to tell him his brother had died (massive strokeÃ¢ÂÂ¦.36 years old). It just makes you realize how tenuous life really is. We just never know.

So true that life is short and you never know when that last day is. My previous husband died two days before his 50ieth birthday...We went to his Mothers to spend the Christmas holidays...the first time he had been home for Christmas in many many years...when we arrived at his Mothers. he brought the luggage in., sat down in a chair and died of a massive coronary..never got out of that chair...Thank God his Mother Mother and sister were both there at the Airport to pick us up...

you never know when your last day will be..

georgysmom - I am so sorry for what you are going through. My thoughts are with you all.

We had a particularly rough spring. These sudden deaths, unfortunately aren't just the domain of the middle-aged. DS2, who is 24, had a female friend die of a brain aneurysm this spring. She was newly engaged and my son had gone through a university program with her fiance.

Another young friend who was 26, died of a massive heart attack. He decided at the last minute to go home for the weekend to see his parents. He died at the dinner table.

And, the 30 year old son of a good friend of mine took his own life.

As I said, it's been a rough spring and full of questions of Why?

My sympathies to all who experience these unexpected passings of friends and family.

blfÃ¢ÂÂ¦Ã¢ÂÂ¦I had a bout like that many years ago. It wasn't all close friends but just one sadness after another. It just was overwhelming. Now I'm at that point in life where it's starting to become close friends.

In a final note, my friend's hubby died this morning. I'm going over shortly to give her a quick hug and bring my portion of tonight's dinner for the family. I know she can't really talk, it's just all too shocking.
