Met my first KTer

Barb3 and I got together today for lunch. You may remember a couple of months ago that Casey/Karen has posted a picture of a plane flying between the spires of a church, Barb3 posted that her father had done that, and I wrote and asked if she was "Lal's daughter". Well, we got together today and had a lovely chat. Thanks KT for getting us together.

He looks part Irish to me. I have quite a few fairly close relatives that I've never met - mostly first cousins once removed. Most of my first cousins I have not seen for a very long time, and I only have one aunt and uncle living. In all, I only have eight first cousins; DM was an only child. I got to meet a first cousin, twice removed, on Monday, and I'll post pictures of him. He's at Texas Tech, where he is a pitcher for their baseball team. He's about 6'4" or 6'5" and very nice looking, but I think he's a bit of an airhead. DB said he has a "jock" mentality - needless to say, he is not an intellectual, but still a great guy. Lars

Probably too late to do any good, but, despite their nice design, be a little cautious about Signature Hardware faucets. Researchers at StarCraft Faucet Reviews have been unable to find the certificate of compliance with ASCME A112.18.1 that makes the faucets legal for use in the U.S. and Canada, and SH has been asked for, but has not provided certificate numbers. We have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the Chinese-made line of faucets sold by Signature Hardware has not been certified use in North America. So, we don't recommend you buy a Signature Hardware faucet at this time.

I didn't mention that the message above was sent from a library near I-75, near London, KY. Being from London, Ontario, I'd gone in there on the same trip, three years ago, wanting to send some messages ... and, thinking that I was in a library, asked to use computer, and for internet access, to be met with some substantial reservations ... ... until I realized that things didn't look right for a library, and, when I asked if it were, was told that, no, ... it was a bank. So I dug out a one-Dollar and a two-Dollar Canadian coin from my pocket ... which they found interesting, as they'd never seen them. The library in London is not now operational ... they have a lovely, spacious new County Library near London. This is on Sunday afternoon, after the conclusion of the Korea Missionaries' Reunion. I enjoyed the gathering, what little of it I attended - mentioned some aspects elsewhere, earlier (regarding plans for Sunday, I think). Now off to visit my niece and family in Gainesville, GA. Iva Mae gave me a lovely gift, as well. She'd prepared a nice plate of Christmas goodies, cakes, cookies, etc. to give to friends. It didn't seem relevant to give it to the people that she had in mind ... ... so she gave it to me. Plus - I got a bonus. There was a second plate just like the first, same story, same destination. Thank you, Iva Mae. I'll take it to our Christmas celebration tomorrow, so several of us may enjoy it. As for what we ate ... they had some lovely Christmas cake, plus cookies, at the coffee hour after church. I took in several trays of the tomatoes that have been ripening for about a month. But some are looking a bit bedraggled, so there was not a substantial demand for them. I'd planned to take them to the two churches that I attend a week ago, but got a call early on Sunday morning saying that due to the snow and blowing that church in the village was cancelled. I thought that I'd try to go to the one in the city that Iva Mae attends ... but when I got about 20 feet out of the garage, wheels were spinning and I was close to getting stuck. I was trying to dig a channel through the snowbanks. So decided that it would be a good idea to stay home. By the way ... Iva Mae is good company, too. A couple of years ago, it took us a while before we realized that, though I knew she lived in London, (and she knew that I did, I think) that we realized that we attend the same church. But we hadn't spoken to one another, to any extent, earlier. I felt sad that Iva Mae didn't feel up to making the trip to Windsor in the spring to take the housewarming gifts to cherry fizz. ole joyful

Sorry, no pictures. I never carry a camera, it is just not something I do and I didn't even think of one today. In my defence, Barb3 didn't have one either! LOL

I'm pleased - but not surprised - that you had a lovely time. That seems to be the usual experience when KT folks get together ... I've met several, and have enjoyed the experience, every time.

Some time ago Pooh Bear and I got together at his place, and when people asked for pictures, Pooh told how his camera had been sitting on the table beside his computer (and we'd been sending messages while we were together) ... but neither of us had given a thought to taking any pictures!

There was a rather indistinct picture that was taken when we had a get together at Dances ... but the first that showed my mug well was when Caroline/Wes took several at her place near Fargo.

Here's a suggestion: make a resolution to get together with at least one KTer, before too long, but with several would be even more fun.

Isn't it fun to meet someone from KT. I haven't met a lot of people from here, but the ones I have met have been so nice and I feel like I've known them for a long time.

We had a lovely lunch, along with my cousin and step-SIL, at my favourite restaurant in Halifax, Il Mercato on Spring Garden Road, just in case you are ever in Halifax and looking for somewhere to eat. The funny thing was Jane said she saw me somewhere the day before because she remembered the blue and pink streak in my grey hair. We finally figured out it was at the MicMac Mall - small world. We have some friends and acquaintances in common and her Aunt Betty and her second husband were good friends of my parents. Also her nephew is married to the daughter of someone I worked with for years (Jane, the last name is Foley - remembered it on the way home). It's all the "six degrees of separation" thing. It was great meeting you, Jane, and we'll have to do it again the next time I come to Halifax!!
