What's for Supper?

We had a cookout at Mike and Amber's. I brought cheese potatoes, baked beans, deviled eggs, cheese, coleslaw and potato salad.

For lunch at home I fixed roast beef sandwiches, pork barbecue sandwiches, fried potatoes, coleslaw, cherries and grapes and we had leftover zucchini cake and brownies.

I still can not get online very well at home, they have not had time to work on the lines in the house. The weekend was spent working outside re doing the drive and getting ready for tall retaining walls next to each side of the house. Today they had two tractors with scoops going and a track hoe.

They plan to work again next weekend weather permitting.

I drove home today from La. with the boys (they have been up there with us and Tan has Church camp this next wk)...so I am alone.....so I got Charlie Chickens Chunks which are normally great got 5 for 9 dollars and they were sooooo over cooked I ate one and gave the dogs a couple others and threw the rest in the trash! Dang it.....

rhizo, do you mean that you sub'd sliced zucchini for the lasagna noodles, or that you added zucchini to the meat & cheese filling? either way sounds good. Quick dinner here too -- hot day, so I made tuna & pasta salad, sweet corn, and sliced tomatoes and zucchini.

Yum, everything sounds so good! I love that fundraiser idea, Bob. Was everything delicious? Nicole, your supper sounds great; absolutely like something that I would fix. I've found a couple of recipes and may try one this weekend. Party, I've tried to like Buffalo chicken wings but I don't care for the sauce. I love grilled chicken wings, though, sprinkled with some cayenne! The bleu cheese dressing is a perfect foil for something spicy. I like celery sticks with it, too. Jasdip....there's no way that your supper wasn't delicious! I can almost taste it, now.

Each day of the week has a theme that I follow, and Monday is "Big Meal". That means a large cut of meat so there are leftovers for lunches/sandwiches/stir-fry, and possibly enough for the freezer, and possibly the base for soup. Last night was ham, fresh pole beans from the garden in "Spicy Asian Green Beans". Also from the garden - Potatoes O'Brian (with onions & peppers), a gluten-free banana muffin (from the freezer), and for dessert - I made a 3-minute Microwave Apple Crisp with a Jonathan apple, some raisins, palm sugar, apple pie spice, and a dab of butter. Served with a little whipping cream and homemade granola on the top - which is a Q&E substitute for Apple Pie and Ice Cream at our house (I hate to make pies so I fake them when possible ;-).

We were going to have a cold dinner of last nights roast chicken leftovers, whatever else I could find in the refrigerator. Lots of odds and ends, berries, yogurt, blue cheese dressing and lots of salad fixings.... A friend down the street walked in a couple of hours ago and said it had felt like a 'chili' July day. He had chili in a slow cooker, and if you can believe it....the sour cream, shredded cheese, diced onions, hot sauce all in little bowls. Cornbread, butter, honey. I asked him why he thought he needed to bring cheese, onion, butter, honey to my house (it's not like cupboards are bare here ;0) and he said he just wanted to make sure everything was on hand. We dropped what we were doing (I was cleaning my office), we sat down, ate. We're having a group here for pastitsio, pizza, salad on Tuesday. I'd better call his wife and invite them too.

Stacy-I hope that was 50 for $9.00 and not just 5? LOL We get nuggets from Burger King and they are 50 for $10. Pretty good too.
I cooked a brisket last night in the slow cooker.It was Soooo good! Everyone else has had a sandwich from the leftovers so if there's any left before I go to bed I have a sandwich too.If not I'll probably have nothing.LOL

Leftovers: Steamed chicken, white & wild rice, gravy. Grapes & Greek yogurt for dessert.

Made a huge skillet of stir-fried cabbage, onions and sausage, with boiled potatoes.

We then headed out to a girlfriend's who invited us to help ourselves to her raspberries. They are delicious, but very small. I haven't picked since I was a kid, and got pricked a few times!

We then went to an outdoor jazz concert. Just came home, and had some raspberries and milk and having my tea.

This evening we had homemade pizza on the grill. The usual pepperoni with bell peppers and onions.
