Every summer I say I'm not wearing shorts this year, but then it gets so darn hot I don't care if I don't look that good. Just want to be cool and comfortable.

I am careful about wearing them out. Today I wore shorts to Petco, 99 cent store, and Trader Joes.

My legs are shaped ok, but they are chicken=skin white with plenty of spider veins. One of the members at my gym has very heavy legs with lots and lots of varicose veins. She wears shorts when she works out. More power to her!

I wear Bermuda length shorts. I had my spider veins injected a few years ago and I really enjoy being able to wear Bermudas now.

Nobody wants to see my legs including me! White as white can be. Good shape but kinda knocked kneed, size 10. My legs look good in black tights and semi short skirt....untill you see how old I am! LOL

yes and they're queen sized...if it's super hot i'll wear them to the store...i do like the longer almost bermuda cut (just above the knee)

Oh, you bet I wear shorts. All the time in the summer. It's so hot here in East Texas that my main concern in comfort and not how I look. I used to have nice legs but I've gained too much weight now to. I found some great bermuda shorts at Wal-Mart that come right above the knees. I'll wear them anywhere, but here at home I'll wear shorter ones. I'm all about comfort. I don't have varicose veins or spider veins, but I have fat!!

When I was younger my legs were my best asset, or so I was told by many people. I have gained so much weight and have so much cellulite and broken veins that I wouldn't even wear them now if I was here by myself.

No shorts for me either. I've never had the legs for them, I have big knees... the more weight I gain, the worse they look. I wear capris all the time during the summer, but won't even wear shorts around the house. I have friends my age who have great legs and they wear shorts all the time and look good in them.

Yes!! I don't care what my legs look like, I've seen lots worse and if they can wear shorts, so can I. It's too bloody hot in the summer time to wear pants, even light-weight gauzy ones. I haven't been able to wear a bra, even a sports bra for any length of time since my surgery, so I avoid tank tops. If I could wear them I would, no matter that I have the jiggly "wings". I just hate to bend over in the garden and show off "the girls" for the entire neighborhood to see. I'm all for being cool. On a side bar: Hubby came home one day, really hot, and I told him to stand over the a/c vent and cool off. His response was: "No wonder girls wore dresses". I had to laugh. I only wore dresses because I was FORCED to. I don't think I own a dress I can wear now.

I got rid of all my shorts. My legs are terrific - from the knees down! My cottage cheese thighs rub together now so shorts are no longer flattering. I wear a skirt or sundress in warm weather.

I'll admit to some what was she thinking moments when I see someone constantly tugging her shorts down in front. Probably because I have the same issue and I know it is not cool or comfortable. I don't ever notice spider veins or pasty skin.

Up until a couple months ago i only wore them occassionaly around the house.Now since i had the knee surgery i have to wear them to therapy twice a week,and have gotten used to them.I do still have nice legs,so i'm told even at 70 yrs old.
At first the scar bothered me,but now 2 mos later it's not all that noticible,and i've gotten so used to the shorts,it doesn't bother me to wear them, as i can't stand to have pants against the scar as it's still tender.

But mostly around the house i wear these nitegowns/dressess.I make them myself and it's just a sleeveless nitegownwith a nice bodice piece that i sometimes make in a contrasting color,and i add side pockets so no one even knows they are nitegowns unless i tell them.And i make them out of pretty cotton prints,stripes,checks,florals etc.
Nice and loose and cool for the summer.

I wear shorts, but not short shorts. I like the ones that have elastic waists and a little fullness (for comfort) and come just above the knee. I also like skorts but they are hard to find anymore. I still have some older ones and wear those when I am shopping. I tan easily, and I don't have spider or varicose veins. I do have the knee replacement scars. I think my legs look pretty good for an old lady!

If someone doesn't like the way I look in shorts, that is their problem.

I might not like the way their face looks!!

Comfort is more important than worrying about what other people think.

I wear shorts for comfort here. They come to about my knees. I don't worry about anything else. No one is looking at me or if they do they graciously turn their heads!!

I only really wear athletic shorts - like that can fool anyone! I have good legs---- from the knees down. I have always hated my thighs, even when I was 120 lbs. But when it's hot and I'm working in the yard, I put on my Addidas or Nike shorts and all is well. I look awful in "normal" shorts.

My Goodness,Yes, I wear shorts! The jeans get put away in May and then it's shorts. I think I have pretty good legs, even if now I have a few veins that weren't so visible a few years ago. Life is too short not to enjoy the warm weather or suffer through the heat. There are lots worse sights out there than my legs to see.

I used to always wear shorts from around April to October. I also thought I had nice legs and have been told that by others. This summer is different though. I have lost so much weight that my legs are way too skinny and I don't want to look at them. So I'm wearing capris mostly.

I used to be real self-conscious about my legs but now that I'm 51, I just don't care as much what other people think. So yes, I wear shorts, but not super-short shorts. I have some spider veins and some cellulite and am not as toned as I would like, but heck, I'm not 17 anymore.

I have a few pair of shorts but rarely wear them anymore ...A couple of pair of cutoffs occasionally doing yard work but I usually wear jeans because of bugs and fire ants. truth is I nearly always wear jeans tucked into my socks in the garden. My Dearly Beloved keeps the air in the house to cool anyway I'd be freezing...I don't have great legs any more but mostly because they are somewhat heavier than I would like them to be...I think that may come to an end though like Maryann's as I have just been diagnosed with cancer too....but pants are my preference anyway.

I wear shorts everyday. I don't have great legs, I use to think they were to skinny, now that the rest of me has gained weight, my legs look pretty good. I use Jergens sunless tanning lotion-I'm not sure about the correct name- anyway it knocks that white glow off and give you a nice, even tan, and it doesn't look fake. I still think my ankles are way to skinny so I always wear tennis shoes with socks with my shorts.

Ruthie! I'm so sorry to hear that. I was thinking about you yesterday as I spent most of the day at a hamfest. Please do whatever you have to do to take care of yourself.

I wear Bermuda shorts or skorts that are a slightly longer length. I don;t do well in the heat, so when it's really hot and humid, it's Bermuda shorts or skorts for me. I find that athletic sneakers and skorts are a nice look, especially if your legs are not the best. It makes you appear healthy, which no one can criticize LOL.

Yep I wear them and while I have went up a size from the past couple years, the tan does help!!! Dark skin looks thinner! LOLOL

I wear shorts as soon as it gets warm enough even in April and will wear through September or when it starts to get cool. I don't have any vericose veins or anything, but after 4 kids in 5 years I am sure they will come out in a few years.

Here is the kicker, I only shave my legs once a week if that. So not only am I wearing shorts but I have hairy legs. I am thinking of letting them grow all the way out, I hate to shave and being pregnant it is hard to shave sometimes. If I do shave it is just above the knee levels. I really don't care about what other peoples think about my hairy legs. The only time that I will shave my legs if we have a wedding or other occasion that I need to be neat.

I wear shorts off and on during the summer. Not usually "out" though. My legs are "ok" for my age I guess. They never have been very shapely. I've started getting the spider veins more all of the time. Guess it had to happen sooner or later.

Well, I don't have the nicest legs on the planet and not the worst either. I think they are a little to thin (hubby says no they're just fine) but they are shaped nice. I will wear shorts if I want to and don't care what anyone else thinks. I don't wear the short shorts. When I was younger, my dad said I was built like a Barbie doll. I had long slim legs a small waist and big chi chi's. I didn't know he said that until after he died then my mother told me. vique

yes I wear shorts...right now my legs are pretty brown from pooling it everyday...from the knees down my legs are ok...from the knees up I've got enough fat to keep a bear warm all winter...but it's hotter then HADES in ATLANTA and I don't care. I wear shorts 24/7. Its really amazing that these darling legs circa 1976, when I was 19....still manage to hold this old body up...I have to be proud of something...right?
But being in Texas, I must stay cool. *read hot flashes*
and I really don't much care what anybody thinks. It may not be pretty, but it's all about comfort to me.
