Hey I know I'm really late to this conversation but I wanted to add my opinion for future readers. Don't ever use kitty litter to clean up fuel or oil! I learned about marrying my husband that this can cause major problems when you throw that stuff out since it doesn't really properly absorb the oil/fuel. There's a range of other things out there that range in price but are super effective. Look up Goop cleaner, SpillFix, environmentally friendly oil cleaning solutions...you'll get much better results and won't create any pollution issues!

I have a 2007 Jeep Patriot and the same thing happened to me recently. I took it to my Mechanic and he confirmed the gas fumes are not venting during the fill up. Cars today have a closed venting system to prevent the fumes from escaping into the atmosphere. Another EPA Mandate to complicate things I guess. Its suppose to collect the fumes, convert it to fuel and burn it off. My Mech troubleshooted it for over an hour, but could not fine the cause. He removed the vent lines between the tank and the collection chamber under the hood, checked the collection chamber, checked the filler tube and found them all to be clear and open. In the end, he felt the issue was coming from s part of gas tank that's not accessible or repairable (Thanks Jeep!) He suggested I take it to Jeep and have them look at it. I decided to suffer with the 20 minute fill-ups, not wanting to spend $1200 on a new gas tank just yet. Tough going when its freezing cold out. That's when I discovered the unconventional, slightly dangerous alternate fix. If I leave the truck running when I pump the gas, she takes it all in like champ! Hey, whats life without a little danger? Filling up this way can trigger the check engine light, but I can reset that. I will share my discovery with my mechanic to see if the new info changes his original assessment. If the diagnose is still replace the tank, I will do the "leave it running" fix for now and do a mini vacay with the $1200 saved. Bob M

I very much dislike stainless steel. As an accent, it can work well, but I always feel like I'm entering some industrial factory when I run into kitchens whose major appliances are covered in stainless steel. In addition, having had a Cuisinart drip coffee maker for several years now, which is mostly stainless steel (hey, an accent!) it is impossible to get the smudges, fingerprints and whatever else off it. I keep waiting for the thing to die a natural death so I can buy a new one. I prefer black, white, or certain colors (but for colors other than black or white, as others have noted, matching up the appliances is near impossible). My current major appliances are white, and my fridge, which is about five years old, has that yellowing plastic handle for no good reason I can determine. It's been yellowing noticeably for at least two or maybe three years. No sunlight really gets into the room, and I've never cleaned the handle with bleach. I use Simple Green or Method on it. In my upcoming build, I am going with black major appliances. I've had a brand new black microwave for nearly a year now -- it seems to be easy to keep clean, and I plan for it to move with me. The previous one was white, and at age 25 years of service, it had itself gone notably yellow. It did have something of a plastic frame. (I got rid of it partly for that reason, but mostly because I figured after 25 years of service, who knew what it was leaking...) The main problem with paneling major appliances in my view is the added expense that I'd rather put elsewhere into my build. (edit due to adding clarity on old microwave...) I have no doubt that you'll love your RR and the cooled seats are a must in your area. I used to think they were over-kill but they're in the new F-Pace S that DH just bought and I will definitely get them in my next car. His seats are black and I swear that they get hotter than my beige ones so the cooled vents help. While DH loves his Jaguar I think it's just a tad too small for my purposes and probably for yours too. He traded in his MB sedan because he wanted something that was sporty and more fun to drive. He opted for the gasoline engine because I have a diesel MB SUV and that's the one we take on trips - better mileage and much larger than his car. His car also has the gas saving feature where the engine shuts off when the car is stopped - but you can also turn that off which is what we did. I wonder if you will have that choice with your RR? My car only has 30,000 miles on it and my DDIL needs a vehicle now that they moved out of the city to the suburbs. DS offered to buy mine since it's big enough for his 2 dogs and future children. I just have to find a replacement vehicle and I'm looking at RR. We want another diesel and MB, Porsche and Audi stopped making diesels in the US. I also detest run-flats and I think I can still get real tires at LR/RR. You'll have to report back and let us know what you finally picked - and photos too. Maire
