Tip for removing oil off of cement driveway
Comments (3)Oooh this question was asked last year, I had the same problem. Thought you might like to look at the old thread, tons of great products. I tried gasoline (don't recommend), kitty litter, green clean and the walmart driveway cleaner--gas worked the best for me (NOTE: still don't recommend). Meant to try the dry cement and oven cleaner but ran out of time and the sun seemed to do a good job of bleaching it over the summer. Here is a link that might be useful: last year's thread on oil...See Moredriveway oil cleaner ... does it work?
Comments (6)I haven't used that, but it's cheap enough to give it a shot. I would make the tenant pay for the cleanup; maybe wait until they move out or fix the vehicle to do the cleaning so you don't have to worry about redoing it again and again. We have always used cat litter to soak up the oil and then dishwashing detergent soaking into the concrete for several hours then rinse with a hose. There are some dark spots left, but not as noticeable as the oil spill itself....See MoreCleaning oil on intrlocking driveway bricks
Comments (1)I've used oven cleaner. Let it set over night and then hose it off. I've done this on concrete, not regular clay brick. Try in in an inconspicuous spot. Also, Home Depot sells a driveway cleaner for this purpose....See MoreTip: Removing old, hard window putty
Comments (19)What about the putty that is as hard as cement? Those pieces seem to pop out the easiest when they are a little loose, but when they can't be pried they seem as hard as the wood. Molly, I agree about the sick "crack" sound. It always seems to happen on the fourth side. I try to make myself feel better by thinking that there must have been a small chip under the compound that just ran. I also harvest old glass from windows removed for vinyl replacements and am at about 50% breakage in salvaging that glass. I'm closing up shop for this year, but would love to try some of these ideas on the extra sash I have in the barn. Brick, you are welcome here any time. Just give me about three hours to pop the rest of the sash out. We'll put you up in a great B&B. If you fish, we have some of the best streams for fly fishing....See Morealbert_135 39.17°N 119.76°W 4695ft.
