Newhostalady-like I'd said, Bobbi just across the street has GE growing like weeds on all sides of her house, some in full shade, some in full sun and some inbetween. The biggest difference is her DH Terry regularly mixes up 5 g. buckets of Miracle Gro to water all of her hostas and others. Last year was just too hot and too dry and they didn't get the care. But this year they are up with a vengeance. Darn, that is frustrating. Otherwise my hostas are much better than hers.(well-that's my opinion anyway. Don't tell her I'd said that. tee-hee! felix-grow, If you are talking about Walls of Water, they may be called something else, too. They are flexible teepee-like plastic cones with individual tubes you fill with water, let warm in the sun, then put over your tomato or any other plants you need to protect. Yes, they work great! If you are using them you don't have to worry about this storm, except if any of your plants are tall enough that the tops are out of the structure. If they are, use Kenny's bucket over the top and rock on top of the bucket tip. Check some of the older threads for WOW (walls of water). Dan posted some pics of his. This is a frustrating spring to be sure. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this is the end of freezing nights till October!

Davidandkasie~ I am SO sorry for your loss... Trust me, I feel your & your kid's pain! I can't believe ppl! I know it would kill me to knock on someone's door & tell them I just hit their pet, but I would do it b/c that's the right thing to do! I can't believe how some ppl are so careless about other ppl's feelings. That was something I was/am thankful for (if it's possible to be thankful in a time like this)... that I didn't have to go search for my dog and that I found him... I can't imagine not being able to find a pet & not knowing what happened to it, having that tiny bit of hope that it would one day return. I was also glad I could be there w/ him when he took his last breath. That had to be difficult telling your kids about it... I'm glad I didn't have to worry about that (no kids yet). I'm so sorry for them, b/c I'm sure the little one doesn't completely understand about death and it's probably really confusing that one minute he's there, then the next he's gone... and the older one, I know how he feels, Coffey had became my constant companion and slept in the bed w/ me every night when my fiance was gone & was there every morning when I woke up and was constantly at my feet following me around, so, I understand, it's hard to lose something that had always been there. I guess that saying is true: "You never really realize what you've got until it's gone." I know that I can't ever replace Coffey, he was definitly one of a kind. Bailey & I do still miss Coffey very much, but I can see improvement in each of us. It will just take time. And, although eventually I will probably want to get another "little brother or sister" for Bailey, I just feel like it's too soon overall. I'm afraid Bailey might not adapt well since it's only been 1 1/2 weeks since Coffey's death and I'm afraid that I might expect too much out of a new dog, so I just feel like now isn't the time. I will know when the time is right. Also, my fiance & I & Bailey will be moving soon and I honestly don't know if I would have the time to train a puppy right now. I have, however, thought about going to a shelter for a puppy. This has made me angry though, looking @ PetFinder.com... We had a special puppy that was WANTED and in a good and loving home and he had to be taken from us, same goes for Davidandkasie, and then, there are all of these dogs out there that are neglected or abused and just plain UNWANTED and just sitting there. It is so unfair how the world works! (Not that I am wishing death on any animal, but it just doesn't seem right how that works out.) Anyway, I'll get off my soap box now. I am very sorry for your loss, T. It is possible that you are a victim (meaning that your loneliness was not earned, but befallen on you due to people letting you down, and unfortunate circumstances), in which case, there is so much good advice in this thread. Have you read it all? Have you taken any of the advice? You wrote all about what has happened TO you, but nothing about your part in it, and maybe you're not ready to address that. I feel compassion for you, I really do. You wrote this: My wife could never grasp what I was going through, and now life has hammered me, everything was gone and my marriage of 35 years was going too. I'll never get over the family dying... You are clearly suffering from depression and loneliness. Have you reached out for help? How is that every single family member including your wife has estranged you? Have you seen someone for help, both medical (psychiatrist) and also a grief counselor? What are you doing to get on with life? As someone who tried really hard to live with a family member deep into depression and victimization, I can tell you that the worst part was when that person refused to access any of a myriad of opportunities for help. That person lashed out at others, and the depression (and alcoholism, fyi) that contributed to the emotional imbalance, drove all of his loved ones away. All of them. Including me. What I'm saying is this: you are down, but you are not out. There is help available. You have been given much advice...just read this thread. You have the capability to turn this around, and I really hope you do. Get yourself right, get some help. There's plenty of help out there. And maybe, down the road, your remaining extended family may wish to re-establish contact with you. If not, you will make many friends and meet people similarly wading through grief and life, and you can succeed in living a postive and productive, friend-filled life. I hope you do.
