I smell smokey as I went to Miss Myra's BBQ. They were really smoking due to the upcoming 4th and had extra fans going.

Glenda, I wish we had a good barbecue place around here. I'm about ready to take a trip to Statesboro, GA for a big dose of their chopped pork and Brunswick stew, served with white bread and sweet tea. You just can't get any better than that!

Today was my 'big' grocery shopping day of the month. My evening meal was a salad, topped with shrimp, and a piece of toast with jam on it. Very easy, very light, and filling.

This was our grocery shopping day too. We had lunch at Bob Evan's and I had all you can eat, soup, salad and bread. I chose rolls to go with my meal. I had a big bowl of the really good vegetable soup and then got a bowl of the ham and bean soup. I did not eat much of the bean soup and brought it home. The salad was really good also. I shared one roll with Alyssa and let them take my other one home. I could have had the bean soup for supper but didn't, I just had a bologna sandwich and a nectarine. Oh I had unsweetened tea for lunch. I enjoyed my lunch.

We were lazy and hot, so we did take out pizza.

We are barbecuing chicken(in the rain) that I marinated in a homemade southwestern marinade, new potatoes with chives and butter, salad with my own lettuce (why won't my lettuce and tomatoes ripen at the same time?!!!), corn and plums. We don;t eat dessert because my kids don't like it.

Your salad sounds really good, Shirley. I bought some croissants at Wal-Mart with the idea of making shrimp salad for sandwiches. We used to go to a little restaurant in Dunedin and I always got the shrimp salad on a croissant. Hoping to copying it.

Sue, we have a Bob Evans just up the road. Don't eat there much but when we do I always have pancakes. I love theirs.

Pam, I know what you mean. It's just too darned hot to even think about heating up the kitchen.

Pam, I can see why your kids don't like dessert--they just don't have room after all that good food. How many kids do you have? You sure have trained them right :-)

patti, next time you go to Bob Evans' get their white chili.

First place I ever had white chili and now I make my own close to their recipe.

I am making the potatoes Obrien with smoked sausage and Vidalia onions again. My husband asked me to make it again this week. Patti you got me
thinking about it to, glad you liked it.

I have some fresh corn on the cob to go with it.

Sauerkraut and bratwurst and a side of potato salad.

Raven, we're having the leftovers from the other night tomorrow. I only had hash browns so I added some red and green peppers and onions.

Carol, I wish I lived in your part of CA. You seem to have the best weather. Dinner sounds good--at least the brats and potato salad :-)

The Bob Evan's I go to does not serve chili, at least not in the summer. I have never seen white chili on their menu. Their soups are, tomato basil, chicken noodle, ham and bean, vegetable and cheddar baked potato soup. All of the soups are really good tasting. In the winter they have served sausage chilli.
