We had fuses blowing a month ago in our unit. The problem was finding out what was making them blow...took 3 different service calls. Finally they discovered that it was trying to heat and cool at the same time.

I know....
just a week and a half ago, we couldn't sleep as
it was 100 degrees in our house. it wasn't pleasant.
thank goodness it didn't last more than a few days.

Moni you are a lot brver then I am to do all that .I hope you did fix it. with 99° and 108°heat index in NE TX I know how it muct be.

So glad you got your AC fixed. When mine blows, I have to call in a professional. Even with a "contract" mine charges $60 for a house call. This spring he charged us just that ($60) for simply setting up the timer. DH and I couldn't figure it out on our own, we lost the manual and it's not "user-friendly."

Our refrigerator and water heater both quit. We bought a new fridge when Jammer was home. After hitting the reset button on the water heater it started working. But that only lasted 6 days. So when Jammer comes home we will shop for a new one. I hope everything else keeps working!!!

Aren't you clever, though! I sure do admire those who can fix household problems. Now would you come fix my refrigerator? The repairman has been here a couple of times and came well-recommended, but we still don't have cold air. By the time we replace this and that, we'll have paid almost as much as we would have for a new one. I just hate that they make appliances to fail early. Such a waste in our throw-away society but they've got us over a barrel. The $100 part that includes a small motor to move the damper is ALL PLASTIC! This is a G.E., but I think all the (American) brands are about the same.

Yep, my Son the A/C Guy taught me how to check the Unit like Moni did. It can save you lots of Service Charges you can do yourself.

Moni, the exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I had forgotten about the outside fuse box. My BIL told me about it when it happened the first time about 8 years ago. But I had forgotten. So I called the repair guy and it cost me $171 to fix it!!! After the repair guy told me what was wrong I remembered my BIL telling me! I will cross my fingers for you, but I think you've got it figured out right!!! Way to go!!!
