Hi Susan, We pay Kim $15.00 per visit and then tip depending on how long we needed her. With the cats, we only have her come every 2 days or so- of course a dog would need more visits.

We learned about Kim from the Clarksburg vet and have been VERY pleased.

I've used a cat sitter. (She also "sits" houses)-she will bring in mail, turn lights and AC on and off, water plants,etc. She charges $10 a day.Cheap to have peace of mind. I'd pay $15 or even more.

I pay $20/day but I think my cat-sitter is too high. We paid the previous sitter $12/day but that was several years ago. Everything is high in my area.

Friend pays $100 a day for her dogs. She has 4 huge dogs. Think the sitter stays there though.

I trade off with a friend who has a cat. If I am gone just 3 days or so, my cats don't need anyone. I leave food and water for them. Last week end I left my A/C set on low for them because we had extreme heat and humidity.
If I am going to be gone for a week, I ask my friends to stop by every other day to make sure the cats have food, water and they need some human companionship. I do the same for them when they are away.

She charges $15. regardless of whether she comes to the house once or twice a day.. on the days we are gone a full day we have her come twice because we have an elderly cat with special needs. She also brings in the mail and will fill a bird feeder if I ask her to.

We pay $50 a day, but that is for 3 dogs and 4 cats. She gets the mail, papers, takes care of the pool, and stays here. She works at the vets so we feel they are in great hands.

We pay $10 per day.........We leave the animals (1 dog & 1 cat)at home and a neighbor comes by and checks on them. If I were only going to be gone a day or so, I just leave my cat in the house with plenty of food and water.

I paid $100 for two weeks over Christmas. She only came every other day so it was about 5 days total so $20 a day. But I have 3 cats so that's a lot of litter to scoop. :) She was great. I found her on a babysitting website, lol.

I paid $17/day to a service that assigned a specific sitter to us. Along with feeding, she played with Foxy and emptied her litter box.

One year, when we had a terrible snow storm, she called us from the house to reassure us that she had made it, we had not lost power and Foxy was happy, fed and warm.

It's well worth the fee.

Mine is worth her weight in gold. She charges $16 per visit (it has, of course, gone up over the years). I'd pay her whatever she wants, and I send her a money gift at Christmas. I completely trust her. She gives meds, brushes and combs them, changes litter boxes, gets mail, waters plants, plays with the cats, etc.

She writes me a note on the last day telling me about each one and how they were (whether one threw up or didn't eat, etc.).

One time my flights were all messed up and I was delayed a couple of days and she ran out of cat food. She went to the store and picked up enough for the rest of the time and for a few days after I got home so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I'm my neighbor's cat sitter. I bring in their mail, check on the cats, check their water and food bowls, have a general look-see around the house once a day. If they are gone a weekend, I don't charge them anything, usually trade for a chore of some kind later. If they are gone a week or more, they usually give me a $25 gift card or cash; or sometimes a nice gift (they know I collect tea cups).

The other neighbors give me $5 just for taking their little dog for a walk when they are gone a full or even just a half day! I say it's too much, but they are happy to have someone do it.

I have a wonderful cat sitter who has looked after my cats for over thirty years. She comes twice a day and the neighbours tell me she stays quite a long time. It is obvious that this is the case as my cats respond well to her. She brings the mail in etc. She is capable of giving multiple medications to even the most difficult and feisty felines. Unfortunately, she doesn't subQ fluids when they are in kidney failure. In this case, I board them at the vets or she takes them depending on the circumstances. She is worth every penny of the fifty dollars a day I pay her. Over the years, she never increased her fee but I felt the need to pay her what she deserved. Fortunately, my current four do not need medicating but she has proven herself very capable of looking after special needs cats. I will be sorry when she retires! Unfortunately, she is no longer taking new clients.

I haven't seen where the "two different places" has been addressed.
How far away from one another they? Same neighborhood? How far from his home?
I'd keep the charges separate but possibly give them a "combined deal".
My son is cat/house sitting for two months at $12.00 per day (friend). If he were to go to the mom's house daily I'd suggest he charge an additional $10.00 and make sure they knew he was giving them a courtesy discount.
