Anyone heard of Safety Sitter?

It is made by Ecology Kids (I never heard of them,either, and have yet to find their website). It is to keep your child in a shopping cart, without your child actually touching the shopping cart. My mom saw a lady using one and thought it was great. I've only seen one on ebay, and it was laid out flat not in a shopping cart position. Anybody ever use this, and have an opinion?

I have heard of it, but never used it. It looks neat, but I don't know if it would be a pain to use. I thought about getting something like that for when my DD was first old enough to sit in the cart, but decided against it. I think other companies make similar products. I believe I saw one at www.onestepahead.com

your 'crab grass' may just be one of our little native forbs that get real active in the spring. Does it have a seed head yet? That could help you identify it. It may not be worth your time to till it up. These kinds of grass just reappear again next year. I'd just go over the yard with a good variety of St. Augustine. Yes, it can use more water...but I don't like a lot of grass anyway and if you have lots of flower beds you will definitely not want the Bermuda! The Dillo Dirt is a type of compost. And compost is a type of fertilizer. The beauty is compost is a slow release fertilizer...which means it continues to feed the soil for months and months. Commercial fertilizer is a flash feed and is gone very quickly.

Here I am. Thank-you Nancy for giving me a pointer in this direction. I'm fine and I'm not. Off work at the moment with health issues. Hopefully nothing but I'm having problems. Doc found my thyroid out of whack a few months back and that was a major stride forward. Mostly healthy enough to make it to work and have a drink after work. Work is half the problem. Mostly stress issues that I suspect are not helping my personal health. Telling myself that I'm strong enough to beat the stress. Expected blow-back from my getting control of the chemicals situation. I think I have control... or more so then in the past. Some new issues but all I've had to do is e-mail and things get taken care of. That is all I ask as a safety person is that things get looked at and a rational decision made. Some recent personal attacks that I have weathered fairly well so far. Ahh... work place drama! Some serious consideration to going off on disability. Almost enough to live on... almost. Kitties are all fine. Favorite moved to the garage and has pet door access to the great outdoors. She turned into a world-class mouser... pity the small rodents in her sights. Leelee moved in and her former owner was a young girl. Leelee has this whole surrogate baby syndrome going on so she sleeps with her head on my pillow and lays on her back in the crook of my arm. Impossible not to love her. Yoko is getting old and spends more time sleeping in warm spots then I care for. Annie and Jessy remain litter mate close and are seldom apart from each other. This has come about, the way I understand it, from the recent increase in unsafe toys and products imported from Asia, and more specifically China. It is going to just ruin more small American businesses, cottage industry and crafters who make safe products from 'natural' local resources and who cannot bear the burden of product testing for items who weren't even under suspicion and were already manufactured in compliance with already existing safety laws. The obvious place to put more restrictions is at the source of the danger, and the country who supplies the imports. All imports should be subjected to a pre-defined safety standard and bear the cost of complying with meeting them. We already have become aware of China's relunctance to work with our import inspections or allow us in country to do it at the site of manufacture........so we can't easily control that, so we 'feel better' by putting into effect a law to control 'somebody' even if they're not part of the problem. Excuse my reaction. I am a small business owner who has lived with the ever-increasing ocean of laws and quarantines when the problems in my industry have been overwhelmingly brought upon us by imports. So I watch as our ports are increasingly accepting more, and I am the one who lives with trying to contain spread of their diseases by quarantines on my stock!

My thoughts are from the other side of the coin. I watch/sit several of my neighbors animals in their absence. Sometimes it may be for several weeks at a time. Dogs, cats, turtles, gerbils, snakes, you name it. I know that animals tend to act out when their owners go away. Their daily schedule is changed and they usually are upset for a bit, and sometimes bored. I can see a cat or dog chewing through a sack of food just for fun. The water issue, however, I have a problem with. Cats especially don't drink that much water, not near as much as a dog. My concern lays where the cats water was empty. They can go several days without food, but water is essential. If worse comes to worse, they will drink out of the toilet, so always make sure the lid is up and some type of water is available anytime you leave town just in case of an unexpected situation with your sitter. When I vacationed many years ago, I left a feeder for my 3 cats that lasted for a week with food and water. They did just fine. They are well worth purchasing at your pet store. All the furbabies I watch get several visits a day, and I usually spend an hour each visit petting and playing. Teens are almost always in a hurry to do things, and I am not sure they would take their time to do the job well. But then again, it really depends on the teen. I love animals, and treat them all as if they were my own. I have never charged anyone, but I consider them all friends, and what comes around goes around. The day may come when I will need their help. I wish I could help all of you with you pet sitting. That would be heaven for me! Trin

I have one that my mom gave me. I never use it because it's a pain to bring it with us. Now I just use a padded piece of cloth with velcro that's made to fit around the handle of a shopping cart. That's what my baby always wants to chew on. It's small and easy.

I have one. I got it at Babies R Us and it's pretty easy to put on - you just velcro it around the handle and rest it in the seat. There's a belt that attaches around DS. I don't remember the brand name and it's out in the car right now. I used it once. Everytime DS saw something that interested him he would reach for it and he very easily could have fallen out of the cart. It really didn't do too much to hold him in the cart. I had to hold on to him with one hand the whole way through the store. I figure I'll try it again when I trust DS to stay in the cart on his own.

I have one from babies R us and it's still a little too big for 7 mo. old but she likes it better than carseat. I never walk away from the cart anyway.

I've never heard of these-- but have heard of the Buggy Bag (pretty pricey for my taste!) and found another site online that gives directions for making a cover (looked pretty easy).

I had great intentions of making a cover-- but never got it done! We just put a recieving blanket around the shopping cart bar and sides and hook his teething links (with toys attached) around it. He's usually too focused on looking around the store to pay much attention to the cart bar!

Also Right Start sells them. We had one for DD when she was younger. I liked it. I found it really cheap at WalMart. But Right Start does sell them too. They are just a little more expensive there. Good luck!!
