Replacement Scrabble Tile

Well.....we counted all our tiles yesterday and we're missing an "N". We have the Deluxe Scrabble (which is no longer manufactured) :-( It's an awesome game, with 2 x's and q's and z's, but the regular Scrabble tiles fit.

I looked on the Hasbro site, and couldn't get the form to work for Canadian.

Would someone be willing to buy me an N (sounds like Wheel of Fortune, don't I) and mail it to me, regular mail.

Or if someone has just bits and pieces of their Scrabble game (the dogs or kids got into it and lost some tiles), would you send me one of your N's?

Of course, I'll reimburse the costs.

If you don't find someone with an extra spare piece, you might try contacting Hasbro and asking about getting an 'N'.

I'd think they should provide service to our northern neighbors.

Just a suggestion - maybe you could find another game, cheap, at a yard sale?

Patti-how ironic is this? I also have spent 2 hours today trying to find that game. On one site-people could leave comments and 80% of those left-were complaining that they were disgusted that 'their' board was taken offline. I'll just bet it's the one I used. One person said there was no warning-about a month ago it disappeared-that's about the time I lost it! Thanks for trying..boo hoo! By the way-I played 3 games on Pogo today-won all 3..but I HATE that stupid break time. To begin with? 30 sec. isn't time to go potty or grab a sandwich or whatever...so what's the point and obviously it isn't for the players' benefit! LOL As for the screen size? Today, at least I was able to see the entire bottom line but the whole board is too small for my old eyes. Grrrrr

I play Scrabble online a lot & WWF. Also started Lexulous which is another entire career. IMO, the dictionaries in both games are very messed up. There are acronyms like "qwerty" allowed but more commonly used words are not. This is especially true in the bingo words which seem to me to be more bizarre than other. On one tablet the Scrabble game, for some unknown reason, only allows me to play the UK version which allows different 2-letter words than the US version. So there is zo, yu, ky, ch, fy, gi, ja, ny, oo, ou,ug additionally. Interesting that we are all using English but the Brits get "words" we don't. WWF is just as bizarre. I regularly email with suggestions but that's a waste of time. Nowhere is there any indication of who is compiling these dictionaries or on what basis. One of the great urban mysteries.

thanks everyone. This is not my idea, but one I saw in several places on the net. I've seen the boards from the games cut up for artists trading card collages. The size would be 2.5 x 3.5 for each card,you can look those up if you choose to sell them :) as far as a tutorial goes....all I can do is tell you how I did it: You'll need scrabble tiles decorative paper(magazine pics,book illustrations,try a photo!) I used rice paper and decorative papers sold for collages sandpaper glue paper scissors drill and very small drill bit a bail and/or jump rings ribbon or cord Diamond Glaze or clear spray sealer (I used clear nail polish and it works great so far) optional bead pins beads Drill a small hole where you wish to apply your bail or jump ring.Also drill a hole if you want to hang a bead on it.( I drilled through the bottom end) Sand the tile on one side. Cut out a small square of paper a bit larger than the tile. Apply glue to sanded side of tile and apply paper,press down to make sure all edges are glued down and flush. Trim the paper even with the edges. Wait til the glue is dry. Apply a few coats of clear nail polish (or spray with clear, or use Diamond Glaze) letting dry between coats. Fasten the bail on it, and hang from ribbon or cord (or chain) And there you have a piece of art to hang around your neck:) I hope that helped, these were really fun to make. Cherry

We have out own special rules we call the "Oshkosh" rules. Grandma got a new Scrabble set years ago and a few pieces were missing. The company sent an entire new packet of letters, so several vowels and valuable consonants were added to the game. I've done the same thing by buying and old Scrabble game at a yard sales and adding many of the tiles to our old board. Grandma also came up with the special rule that once a blank has been played, anyone can exchange it at any time for the letter that it was supposed to be when it was played. The additional tiles and usable blanks make the game last longer and it becomes a lot more challenging to fill the board. What a great game!

Look on Ebay. You probably can't buy just one letter but if you buy even an incomplete set ,you could pull out the tile you need and keep the rest as for "spares".

I was going to suggest you look on Etsy.com, but then I remembered I had a bag of tiles that I bought at a yard sale for scrapbooking. I have a 'N'! Email me your address through my page and I'll send it off to you!

I can send you an "N" if it's the old style (traditional) scrabble game. I bought one at the thrift store to use for photo props and maybe make Xmas ornaments out of the tiles but it's still sitting on a shelf and I haven't done anything with it. Just email me through my profile with your mailing address. I'm in Newfoundland so it will only cost a stamp to put it in an envelope, don't worry about reimbursing me! LOL

No extra tiles in the game? Or were they used up? Had a game when we were growing up but that's one game I never enjoyed. My sister might still have it though. Could check and see but I'm not sure if the tiles are different.

Cynic, there are 4 blank tiles in the Deluxe game. Hate to make one of them into an N LOL

I might have an extra one I can send you but I will need to go up into the attic to find the old game that I keep just in case I lose pieces. Drop me an email in a couple of days to remind me to go look for it. Pretty hot upstairs right now.
