I have that problem every once in a while, except only for the Volume, the Safely Add/Remove is always there. I Googled and found the solution Mikie mentioned, for the Volume. It works, for a while, then the V button is gone again. System Restore always said no changes had been made. I've found that rather than going through the Options, a cold reboot will usually work. About the Safely A/R button: does anyone ever use it? DA, I remember from 'way back when there was a thread about that Invisible line. I think I found it then, but never have since then. Try this, Launch the HP QuickPlay application. Almost all HP laptops have the program pre-installed. If for some reason you don't have the program, you can download it from the HP website (hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html). Click on the "Music Videos Pictures" icon in HP QuickPlay. HP Webcam will be available among the list of devices. Click on the "HP Webcam" button to turn it on. A light next to the webcam lens and an image will appear on the screen. (Firefox)Right click on your toolbar choose "customize" from the drop down menu....you should be able to drag the icon back to the toolbar.... (IE)do the same and "add" the icon the the list....if you have >>(indicating dropdown menu) it may just be hidden...

Right click on the taskbar and select properties. This will bring up the "Taskbar and start menu properties" tab From here you can click on customize button in the icons section. Locate the icon that you are missing and check status. The status type should read "Hide icon and notifications", change this to "Show icon and notifications".
